My mom got the Kimono Ramen $22 and I got the Chicken Kaarage Poke Bowl $19. My bowl wasn't on the menu in the restaurant but I asked the server if it was available because I saw it on a menu online and she said that it was in fact available :) My mom's ramen came with pork belly, grilled chicken breast, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo, bean sprouts, a marinaded egg, and ramen noodles. She asked them to hold the sesame seeds so that I could have some. I had a taste of everything except for the pork belly (it was too fatty for me, lol, but my mom liked it), and I thought it was tasty. The ramen noodles were nice and chewy (she chose the thick noodles) and the broth was good. It wasn't too salty. I liked the lean grilled chicken breast as well. My poke bowl came with sushi rice, mixed greens, edamame, cucumbers, avocado, shredded carrots, and shredded surimi crab (they call this Kani salad, it's basically shredded imitation crab with maybe a bit of mayo). I got 5 pieces of chicken kaarage. They were crispy and nicely seasoned. I enjoyed them despite them being dark meat, lol. The vegetable ingredients were fresh. The sushi rice was a bit clumpy, but once I mixed all the ingredients together, it was fine. Service was wonderful. We were greeted right away and brought a carafe of water. Once we got our food the server noticed we were trying to share a bit of our meals with each other and she offered to bring us 2 small bowls. The bowls were incredibly helpful and made sharing much better and less messy, lol. I felt the food was about 4 stars but the thoughtful and attentive service bumps this place up an extra star in my books. Decor is pretty. Design is sleek and modern. The first time I went in 2016 we ate inside, had some drinks. Ottawa can be a bit of a letdown food scene wise but for me this was a shiny spot. I finally got to try this location after seeing them on UberEats and wow, did I ever pay for it haha I got the build-your-own poké (BYOP) bowl, which already starts at $21.95 before taxes, fees, and tip. I got it with sushi rice, double ahi tuna (an extra $6.75), all the mix-ins (cucumber, green onion, sweet onion, and sesame seeds), miso ginger and coco-wasabi cream sauces, purple cabbage, edamame, radish, pickled daikon, and crispy shallots. It was so loaded and I finished everything but the rice, but in hindsight I don't know if I really needed the double tuna. They were nice, big, meaty chunks, but I do wish they were marinated instead of just plain ahi tuna. The rice was good and warm when it came, but I really didn't need that much of it. The veggies were all great and fresh. The pickled daikon was surprisingly sweeter and not as sour as I imagined it would be. The crispy shallots were a nice addition, and even though I had two other onions in my bowl, I didn't feel like the onion flavour was overpowering. The sauces were good but not as flavourful as I expected or would've liked. I would've loved to taste the wasabi a bit more, but it was very, very mild and not at all spicy, in my opinion. I didn't quite taste the miso, either. Loved the option to customize, they definitely use quality ingredients and have don't skimp on the portions, and I was full and satisfied. I don't think it was quite worth the price I paid, but I'm glad I tried it! It ended up being a comparable price to the prime rib I actually thought I ordered (watch out for those multiple UberEats carts haha).. This business also lacks restroom facilities. There's a simple counter and chairs if you want to dine-in, but then you're on your own to go elsewhere if you need to the restrooms. I will definitely be a regular customer at this business, but it'll be no more than once every other week, only because I can't afford to go more often!
