If you're a fan of sushi, you'll probably end up being a fan of this as well. I went with some friends and we each picked up our own bowls. They're fairly generous with their servings, but I do warn that they are slightly on the more expensive side. They have vegan and gluten free options, so it's a great alternative for everyone. If you're looking for a healthier option this new years, I highly suggest coming by Paradise Poke! :)

They worked through the line quite quickly but there's not a lot of room to sit for to their seats being right where the line is with the exception of those at the window. For the price of the poke bowl (I did the make your own), it lacked protein and they lacked generosity when it came to toppings. The presentation was nice but I felt very limited in the amount of toppings I could have in my bowl as well as they were stingy. For example, I wanted daikon & she counted 4 pieces for my bowl! Lots of rice so it'll fill you up. Unsure whether I'll come back since it was very delicious but slightly over priced..

Only downside of sitting there was not having a place to put our coat so we had to pull an extra chair next to us. Lots of seating available, very relaxed, somewhat hipster vibe, waiters were nice, ambiance was nice. Tomo Slaw (5/5): refreshing, light, tasty. I really enjoyed the texture and crunchiness from the taro chips mixed in Beef Tataki (5/5): my friend was not a fan of raw beef but I love it. The sauce was great and I like how there was pineapple bits to it Spider Roll (5/5): pretty standard - can't go wrong with it Kiss Roll (5/5): I think this was the only specialty roll that didn't have shrimp tempura in it aside from the veggie ones. The rolls were quite big and didn't have too much rice. Overall, the food is very yummy and exceeded my expectations! Honestly wasn't expecting it to be this great but I'm glad I was wrong

The modern interior lighting was dim but set the relaxing tone for the evening. It was also aesthetically pleasing inside Food: I'm a sucker for Japanese food, and their Aburi Salmon Sushi which was torched, was absolutely amazing. Their house sauce and jalapinos were a great touch and gave the roll the perfect amount of spice. I also got the fried chicken bao which was delicious. The meat was juicy and crispy on the outside. The veggies inside the steamed dumpling bun put it all together. It was the right portion and size Drinks: I got the Chun-Li kick. Some flavours that stood out were the Gin, lychee juice and lavender bitters. I'd definitely come back

Joey Rideau, a restaurant that's part of the Calgary Joey chain of restaurants, is located on…read moreOttawa's yeah, Rideau and Nicholas. For those not from Canada, it's a chain of casual restaurants with all sorts of foods from Canadian to Korean. There are locations in multiple cities of the United States including Santa Clara, which I've actually been to. I wouldn't type that Bridges is a good Bay Area comparison, but there are similarities. (Yes, it is a real restaurant, and the Hillard family in "Mrs. Doubtfire" needs 45 minutes to get there from their house.) What did the places get right? We had good times for sure. The staff members were energetic, and they had checked up if we're okay. I believe both times, I ordered something Japanese, though the first time, I also tried other foods I can't remember anymore. What's noteworthy is that one of my brothers likes the truffle udon carbonara I had the first go around, and he likes that udon the best, but of course, it has truffles. The second time, I had the flan cheesecake cake. What did the places get wrong? Not a lot. The 3 dollar signs should make people twitch. So, you should come only if there's a special occasion. The other issue I have is what I typed is an issue I typed in another Canadian spot's review, Boston, as in having their food carry too much spice. It's actually bothersome more so in a Joey's spot than a Boston's because Joey's spots carry Japanese food, and most of their Japanese foods carry the spice I'd rather avoid. I know you can remove the spicy ingredients, but they're still a bother. Joey's is a good spot. It may be pricey, but it's good never the less. I may not be close to Ottawa's location anymore, but I for sure can just go to Santa Clara if I want that Canadian flair of Joey's again. +/Joey's is a jiving spot with that energy and tasty food and drinks. -/It's pricey, and the batch of Japanese foods makes me twitch internally.
