YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS! Donna and her partner don't really care about hospitality. Before you hand over $155 in cash, read this and, most importantly, run the hot water. THE PROBLEM WASN'T so much that the romantic jacuzzi tub, shower or sink had NO hot water OR the fact that my gf and I couldn't sleep because of the hourly chime from the grandfather clock 30 feet from our pillows OR the fact that the most expensive room we rented was packed with clothes, old shoes, old sheets, and random ointments, screws, jackets and random debris and junk OR the fact that both trashcans in our room had diapers, trash and catheters in them! THE REAL PROBLEM WAS... how the hosts dealt with us and responded to us when I brought it to their attention the next morning- totally in denial, totally unprofessional with no apology and no solution to our concerns. YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!! Donna: "How did you sleep last night?" Me: "Not well...the grandfather clock chiming every hour kept us both awake...you should probably move it or unplug it" Donna: "I will never unplug that clock!" Donna's partner: "Bullshit, you can't hear that clock - WE don't hear from our room!" Me: "oh..ok..(in shock). Uh....bottom line is that we both were suprisingly dissapointed. I mean...there was NO hot water in the tub, the shower or the sink...we both had to take cold showers. I asked my gf to use your shower because it was less cold and we weren't able to use the jacuzzi tub either - I am just letting you know so you can fix it for future tenants" Donna: "Well, we've never had any complaints before". (becoming more agitated and unprofessional) Donna's partner (angrily): " I take a shower everyday with no problem!" Me: "Oh...ok...just thought you should have it checked out...maybe there is a problem in the system that needs attention or something". Me: OOh...and when I finally found the garbage cans for the room, they were under the sink..both filled with garbage and dirty diapers and 2 catheters- you might want to hire a better cleaning crew" Donna: "Yea, right....we haven't rented to anybody with children so I don't know what you are talking about!" Me: "Well...I can show you..follow me...." Donna carries both garbage cans from the bathroom to show her partner, then sets them down and continues cooking breakfast. Donna's partner: "Well...go ahead and write a shit review about us, then!" Me: " I don't think that is necessary, I don't want to write a bad review about you, I am just giving you some helpful feedback and maybe you can pay me back with an apology or something??" Not even an apology. Not even a partial refund. Nothing. We walked out...and didn't eat the prepared breakfast...especially since she just touched the garbage cans. Yuck. read more
Staying here is like staying in at a friends house. This B & B stay was for 3 nights. Finding it was a bit tricky as we missed the sign for the road 215 that was our turn off and I will post a picture. Staying our here was very quiet and relaxing. Donna gave us the grand tour of the house and introduced us to the other guest. Each room has a TV and there are many DVD's to watch. Some of the guests were BBQing on the deck as I would recommend to bring food if you are there at dinner as town is a ways away, there are only 2 places to each and the selection is slim. A great breakfast is provided by our hostess each morning. The castle is large so the bedrooms are good size and are spaced well apart from each other. Each room is very clean and if you have any special needs let Donna know as she is very knowledgeable about the area and very friendly and helpful. read more

Paradise Ranch Castle is located in the high desert southwest of Austin with a view of the Toiyabe Range which is especially beautiful when capped with snow in the winter and spring. Although the building is new, its crenelated roof line evokes a medieval castle. We rented two of the bedrooms. Both were beautifully furnished and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Guests have access to museum quality collections of baseball memorabilia and antique dolls as well as a large man cave with movies and a pool table. This part of Nevada is famous for the absence of light pollution from cities. If you visit at the dark of the moon, you will see the Milky Way as you have probably never seen it. read more

Spectacular stay. Donna is a gem. Beautiful interior, lovely kitchen and dining area, great breakfast, super cool "dungeon" rec area, unbelievable views. Better than anything else around by a million. Might look kind of funky (a "castle" in the desert?) from the outside, but you'll be beyond satisfied when you get inside. read more

My boyfriend booked this as a pass through for our road trip on the 'loneliest road in America'. I was a little scared as we arrived late around 10pm and all I see at first in the middle of no where a mini castle with strange colored lights in the windows! I'm like I'm not staying here! Good thing he is so wonderful and laughs it off while ensuring it's all good...because it was such a lovely encounter with the owner of the castle Donna and her late husband Bob's. Such a romantic story how he promised her he would build her a castle if she moved to Austin with him and they had horses and everything. Whatever Bob did he seemed to go all out and she was the lucky girl to be showered with his passions. There is the coolest dungeon downstairs full bar area juke box poker tables pool table piano the whole entertainment. Upstairs has unfinished rooms connected to the rooftop which has the most beautiful views of the snow top mountains. Wish we would've star gazed. Donna was quite the hostess and she seems to be running quite a gig there all by herself. What a woman what a love story what a quaint experience. read more
