U.S. 50 may be the loneliest road in Nevada but Cold Springs Station is the FRIENDLIEST place in Nevada. This is our second time here. First time we overnighted in the RV park and were lucky enough to time it with their Sunday buffet linner. The second time was to charge our Cybertruck. It's the best stop between Fernley and Eureka because we were towing our travel trailer. So, whatever floats your boat, this is a great place to stop. Thank you for your hospitality! read more

This place is such a gem! On our way from Fallon to Austin ,Nv on Hwy50 it was the perfect spot to stop in for dinner and drinks. We were immediately greeted with a warm smile to be seated and asked what we would like to drink. (Which they have a great drink selection) My hubby and I ordered the ribeye and baked potato which came with a delicious salad and bread. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked! The owner gave us a little back story on the restaurant and I thought how sweet she was to talk to us even though she was busy. The stop is definitely worth it!!! read more

This is a little oasis on Hwy 50. Lots of travelers stop at Middlegate for something to eat or drink, but I think Cold Springs Station is far better. (Middlegate has a nice sleazy vibe but probably not the best choice for kids) Cold Springs Station has an RV park, a couple of motel rooms and I've never stayed there so can't comment except to say I know people who stay there and always return. The cafe has become an occasional meeting place for a state wide organization...pretty much midway on 50. I got a BLT and upgraded to onion rings...just cause theit's are so good. I've also had breakfasts there...it's old fadhion roadside food. Well done, friendly folks. They have a full bar which is pretty inviting but I always have the drive home ahead of me so I don't have alcohol. They have a nice little gift shop, everyone should buy a T-Shirt! The restrooms are always clean...but please be nice to their system...they are far from services! The Pony Express ran thru here in 1860-61 and there are station ruins about a half mile to the west. I can imagine someone driving 50 and thinking "we'll eat in Austin or Eureka"...sure get your fuel in those town, wander main street, but stop and eat at CSS, it's a much better choice! Stopped in for a quick break from the heat and to rehydrate. Great stop for motorcyclists and everyone else. First came here in 2006 for camping. The food was fantastic as was the service. It burned down in 2007 and was rebuilt. It still has the same feeling, just bigger and cleaner. I haven't tried the food this time around, but they now have a full bar and still good camping. There is a lawn for motorcycle camping, too. read more

RV park with full hook ups, 30 and 50 Amp sites available. We stayed at the Hotel it was clean and cozy! 37 miles East of Sand Mountain. It is close so you can go and get yourself some amazing food. We tried the Denver Omelet it was amazing and Huge! The Chicken Fried Steak dinner was also humungous, and the asparagus was very tasty as the vegetable for the evening. The salad and the garlic bread were also very good before the meal. The Rib Eye was just the biggest steak I have ever seen. For being in the middle of Nowhere they are very affordable. The night before we had the Drunken Cowboy burger and the Pulled Pork Pocolypse burger. If you like hot and spicy then go for it. If you need a cooler burger, you can ask for the mild version. He had the steak fries, and I had the battered fries. Those battered fries were exceptional. Then evening came and we played some pool and had mentioned Karaoke. I was so excited it was my birthday and Barbara her husband and the staff and locals were there to go out of their way to make my evening special. If you like mixed drinks, ask them to make you a Snickerdoodle it was so tasty or have a Happy Camper. What an amazing bunch of people. I even saw them help someone who had injured themselves by providing first aid stuff out of the kindness of their hearts. They have a store and instead of making the lady buy what she needed they provided it. You don't find many business owners like that anymore. At the end of the evening, we went out and built a fire in the fire pit and just chilled before going to bed. The next morning the guy at the bar was so awesome he helped us with an app to find trails in the area. This is a big spot for Side by Sides dirt bikes and four wheelers. The hotel room was very quiet we barely heard them come or go. I love this spot, love the people, love the vibe. It's in the middle of nowhere and thankful for its existence. I'm not much of a night driver especially when towing our travel trailer. We stayed just a night to refresh and take a break from the road. We reserved ahead of time and there was no need to talk to anyone in person. Parked our trailer to our lot and left the following morning. Didn't have the chance to explore due to a tight schedule, but seen a few people with ATVs. I highly recommend this place. read more

This is my first visit to Cold Springs Station Resort. My neighbor encouraged me to to join his family who come here all the time and know the owners. This is a great spot to launch from for riding in the desert which is why we are here, riding our side by sides.... I arrived a few hours before my neighbor, it's sort of out by itself off Hwy 50, checked in and moved all my stuff into my room. It's not a large room but it's a nice room, comfy bed, has a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The office where you check in is part of a small store, bar and restaurant. After relaxing for a bit after my 6 hour drive, I decided to try the restaurant/bar. The food is good, probably one of the best French dips I've had in a long time. In the bar were George and Barbara the owners and they are some of the nicest people I've met in a long time. Very warm and welcoming, I almost felt like family. This is a very warm and friendly place, even the locals who come to the bar are friendly. Being my first night here, I'll update this review as the weekend goes on. read more

Cold Spring Station is excellent! This place is a life saver. We needed a good place to stop from along drive and a rest room break. Cold Spring Station popped up just in time. They have a rest room for customers and a few snack items and lunch items. This place is located conveniently right of the road so you wont miss it. This place is one of the few places to stop for a rest room break and a bit of rest if your road weary. There are rest areas along the way on this road but this has food, coffee, ice cream, snacks and a rest room. Also, if you have an RV you can rent out a spot for the night. Wish I had an RV... Plenty of room for parking. Lots of room for parking. There are a few little knick knacks items to buy, t-shirts, sweaters, hats and other useful items. I found a cell phone solar battery charger. This was pretty helpful. I am glad this place is here. This is around the middle area from Reno to Round Mountain. Well, it is close anyways. But definitely a good stopping point. Was a big surprise! In the middle of nowhere, at night, I stop here and ask for a room. Got a small cabine for very cheap price. Everything was clean and nice. At the morning, got a marvellous view of the mountains around. I breakfast here... the guy at the service was cool... ask for meat omelette, was awesome, full plate, lot of meat and cheese... My husband and I needed a pit stop from our drive on the "Loneliest Highway in America". We were welcomed when we came in and decided to stay for an old fashioned root beer float. Barbara, the owner, was super nice and friendly! Definitely recommend this place as a pit stop between Fallon and Austin, if you're on US50. We needed a place to stop for the night on the Loneliest Highway, and stumbled across this oasis in the middle of nowhere!. Not only were we able to dry camp VERY inexpensively, we had a good meal at their restaurant AND they have a full bar! Looking forward to stopping here again sometime. read more

Truly the best homestyle-feeling environment. The staff is personable, friendly, welcoming, fun, etc. etc.. I felt the kind of comfort that One would feel when they've been away from home for to long, walk in the door, and every ounce of familiarity and comfort hits you like a brick wall.. A welcome oasis of paradise smack dab in the middle of 110 miles of nowhere. The (6) motel rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Cable TV is available, and the (free) WiFi actually works very well - unlike many other establishments I've stayed at. The food is fabulous - I only had one meal, but it was one of the top five best breakfasts I've ever had. There's also a full bar available. This will give you an idea of who you're dealing with: I arrived VERY late (11:30pm) due to a delay and George (the owner) was there waiting up for me to make sure I found my room. He even offered to make me a sandwich at that hour of the day (I gratefully declined). If you're into to dirt bikes and ATVs this is a perfect base camp for exploring Nevada's back roads and trails. The only possible imperfection I can think of is that they do not sell gasoline. "Never pass gas" when you're in the middle of Nevada. read more

What a wonderful little Roadhouse stop! My husband and I were pleasently surprised when we stopped in for breakfast on our way out of state. The food was simple, down home type fare with bacon, eggs, French toast and coffee offered. There are more things on the menu, but all are more along the lines of menu items that can be prepared fresh, fast and simple. It was tasty, hot and reasonable priced. The restaurant area was large enough to accommodate a medium size group, large family, or just a couple, like us. There also appeared to be a bar area and a small gift and sundries shop. It is a family run business along an old stage coach/pony express route, so there is a bit of interesting history there too. Stop in for a bite or cold drink and be sure to take a minute to chat with the friendly proprietor and staff. read more

If you stay here get the 'motel rooms' not the 'cabins' the cabins are a 'tough shed' type of room, 2 beds,tv,dvd, that's it: no smoke detector, you have to shear a bathroom, showers are not cleaned between users, so if the guy before you makes a mess,,, carry your own soap too, there's no soap dispenser for the sink & the one stall toilet lock doesn't work: but besides that- nice place, nice people, not much for choices on the dinner menu , but breakfast has a selection, good bar, pool table, gravel RV park, but keep up o.k. Good surrounding trail system for off roaders & hunters. read more

What a great find in the middle of the Basin and Range! We had a group of 13 and these folks rolled out the red carpet. The beer was cold, the food was great and fresh, and the hosts were some of the best I've experienced on the road. It has a great family-run vibe and you can even catch up on some history of the area. We had dinner and then breakfast the next morning. The staff even came in early to pack us lunch for the road. There is a pool table and a couple of TVs for sports fans. The hotel rooms were clean and and comfortable. A true gem! I can't recommend highly enough. read more

I had to stay out here for work not too long ago. I rented a room from them, which was clean (though dated), and as I rented one with a kitchen, found it to be very accommodating. My room had ceiling fans and a door in the front and rear of the unit, which allowed me to open the windows and doors and let a good cross-breeze come through. The kitchen had a full-size fridge, and burners to cook on. Pretty unusual, and not necessary for most, but perfect for me as I had to be out there for the better part of the week. After my surveys during the day, I would stop in to the station for the nightly special. Dinner was delicious every night. I'd highly recommend ordering whatever the special is. The owner travels to Reno almost every day to pick up fresh meats and produce, and you won't be disappointed. The locals come in almost every night, and while they appear a little rough-around-the-edges, don't be put off. Everyone is super friendly, with lots of interesting stories of the area. I'd love to stay out here again, and will be stopping in for lunch/dinner when I come through. read more
