He was always very kind and thorough Dr Gerber was an easy transition. Her assistant was outstanding. I had a stubbed toe from about a week ago. He insisted on taking X-rays for Dr Gerber to evaluate. She found that there was a fracture and advised me how to handle it and what to expect. I really liked the doctor and assistant. read more

I have to update this review as I have a couple of issues that are ongoing with Paradise Valley Foot and ankle. They submitted the claim to my insurance incorrectly so I received a $250 bill in the mail. I had to involve Anthem Blue Cross to reach out to their billing office to get them to resubmit the claim correctly. I also mentioned I was interested in custom orthotics but wanted them to see if insurance was going to cover it. It never happened no follow up. I'm certainly not paying for $600 custom orthotics without even an attempt from this office to reach out to my insurance company. Highly disappointed. read more

I had a bunion surgery with Dr. Kayce at the end of last year and it went really well! My friend, who's also a podiatrist, recommended him to me because of his experience and location. On my first visit, I could tell that Dr. Kayce was really knowledgeable. He explained everything to me clearly and patiently. I ended up doing lapidus suggested by him and it has been a great experience. I didn't have any severe pain surprisingly even after my surgery. The bruise and swelling were definitely rough at the beginning but everything was recovered as planned. The surgery was also followed by several follow-up visits and each one went well. He gave me clear instructions on what I could do and referred me to an amazing physical therapist. Last but not least, their office staff were helpful! I never had a billing issue with them and they were so easy to talk to. It's been 5 months after my surgery, my bunion is gone for sure. I start to exercise and walk normally again. If you ever consider a bunion surgery, Dr. Kayce is definitely one of the podiatrists in the valley that you can talk to! read more

As a 30 year RN with a 25 year history of working in various surgical environments, I am a bit skeptical of surgeons. They tend to see patients as 'cases' only. They rarely listen to patients and hurry people through without giving adequate explanations or clarifications of what they are planning in a way that non medical people would most likely understand. I always found this to be incredibly frustrating because the staff that works with the surgeon would need to pick up where they left off. So, essentially I do not like most of them. Given this mindset, it was a challenge to choose the correct surgeon for my issue. My issue turned out to be a non healed ankle fracture that I had been living with for 2 years. Not one doctor that I saw during that time even suggested doing imaging to see what was going on. Finally, I insisted on an MRI with my PCP. Sure enough, the bone was broken and had 3 ligaments attached to it. Needless to say, I had been in an incredible amount of pain while walking or standing. Guess what RN's do all day??? Walk and stand. I sent my MRI result to Dr Vaughn via email and they got me in immediately. I cannot adequately state how impressed I was with his office staff who were all incredibly nice and helpful from beginning to my final appointment. Even when my insurance company refused payment (UHC) they fought for me and got it done. Upon meeting Dr Vaughn, I was taken by his kind and thoughtful Southern demeanor. He fully explained what was going on and what needed to be done to make things right. He explained the surgery, every step of the recovery process and what to expect at various time frames following surgery. He took his time in all of my follow up appointments and I felt that he took an immense amount of pride in the work that he did all with a sense of humility and grace that I have not witnessed in very many surgeons. I had an ingrown toenail removed by Dr. Newport. Not normally a pleasant event. I've had this done before. But my entire experience today was positive. To begin with, the staff couldn't have been friendlier and more welcoming. And then the surgery. The worst part is normally the injection of the anesthesia directly into the big toe. It really hurts. But with Dr. Newport, I barely felt a thing. Nothing I would really call pain. The surgery went flawlessly and my toe is bandaged up and ready to start healing. I do not have enough good things to say about my experience today. As others have said (which is how I found these guys), if you've got an ingrown toenail, look no further. read more

December I called and made an appointment for December 23. When I got there they stated my co payment was $60.00. I paid it and sat down to wait for the doctor. The doctor was nice and told me exactly what was going on with my foot. It wasn't until December 30 I get a call from the front office staff stating that I did not have a referral and now owe almost $200.00 for my visit. Why didn't anyone say that while I was on the phone making the appointment in the early part of December. The lady over the phone just kept saying you need to pay that right now or this will be on your credit soon. After telling her over and over I was not paying that I hung up and called my insurance. I scheduled an appointment with Dr Kayce for flat foot problem dating back to my Marine service 46 years ago. I had suffered with plantar fasciitis for 3 years and recently increased pain in my left ankle. I'm 68 and still climb ladders for construction purposes. Agonizing pain kept me from strenuous work. Dr Kayce diagnosed an abnormal fusion between two bones. It is called a calcaneal navicular coalition. Long story short, Dr Kayce treated the condition with a surgical procedure. A year and five months later, I am pain free and able to climb ladders and ride my mountain bike. The physical therapy was tough but worth the effort. I have had multiple procedures with Dr. Vaughn at the Paradise Valley location. I have the utmost trust and faith in him. I was most recently injured while in Malta on vacation. I thought about having the surgery overseas, but knew the best option would be to come home and see Dr. Vaughn. I called to get an appointment ASAP and I was able to get in the very next day (Monday) after arriving home late Sunday night. I had also emailed him the X-rays and radiology reports from the Malta ER so he had a heads up. We scheduled surgery for Friday. I was very comfortable with the care I received and his expertise in treating my multiple fractures (my toe was in six pieces). He is the best podiatrist I've ever had and I feel very fortunate that he's local to me (as patients fly in just to be seen by the physicians at this practice). So I fall down... A lot. Like all the time. Probably more than all the people you know, combined. Anyways, I literally had an ankle sprain 3 months ago and had been healed maybe 3 weeks when I fell again and hurt my right foot. So I did what I usually do, went to an Urgent Care, got an x-ray and she said nothing was broken and it was fine. A week later, my foot was still swollen and bruised and I wasn't walking so what did I do? I finally decided that after 4 ankle sprains in my 25 years of life, I needed to see a specialist (not to mention, my foot was injured) but I got onto Yelp and searched and I am so thankful I found Paradise Valley Foot & Ankle. If you Yelpers are anything like me, you have no idea how to choose a Foot Doctor, right? Well, I picked Dr. Vaughn's office because of the video on their Yelp page and their reviews. The video reassured me that their office is friendly and Dr. Vaughn seemed knowledgeable & approachable. Funny thing is, I actually saw Dr. Kayce! He's not in their video but he's the other doctor here. At my first visit, Dr. Kayce took a new x-ray and saw a fracture in my foot, makes sense since I was in so much pain. Today was my two week check up so I am still healing but Dr. Kayce has been so great. He has been extremely informative and educational with explaining everything to me.
