We've had an interesting experience working with this firm over the past few years. During our first year, there were some inconsistencies, but we chose to give them the benefit of the doubt. This year--our third year using their services--we were charged nearly double what we paid the previous year. When we questioned the increase, we were told that the prior pricing was not reflective of their standard rates. They did issue a partial refund of around $100, but the situation still raised concerns. Additionally, we were assigned a new tax preparer this year, which made the significant increase in cost even more surprising. As you consider your options this tax season, we STRONGLY discourage you from using Paramount Tax. We and our family were longstanding Paramount Tax customers, using them every year since they were a local tax preparation shop. However, in recent years, after John stepped back and they started franchising, the quality of service steeply dropped. Just a few lowlights from their service. 1) They sent back draft tax forms that were populated halfway with our tax materials, and half with someone else's tax materials. They were unapologetic when we asked them what happened. 2) Despite sending all requisite forms (including for an EV purchase) they neglected to include the forms, omitting $7,500 in tax credits. We had to correct them, and hand hold them through entering the information (despite clearly providing all the information in our original correspondences). 3) There were numerous other minor and (major) errors and omissions, including omitting IRA contributions, miscoding those contributions (resulting in possible tax burdens), and getting income and contribution numbers incorrect. 4) Their customer service is rude and unprofessional. When we had the audacity to question their preparation and to explain that they had made numerous errors, they told us this would be the "last year they would do our taxes". I cannot emphasize enough that you should look elsewhere for your tax preparation. If you use Paramount, you will be sorely disappointed. read more

When I met with Paramount they were really excited to get me out of their office it seemed. I had questions about stock options I had and they seemed really unknowledgeable about how to deal with those. And it seemed the were trying to avoid the conversation instead of saying "I am not sure about that, I will get more information for you." They asked me to email my tax return to them. I asked them if their email was secure. They said it was. I then received phishing emails from their accountant's email address a few months later. When I emailed them about this they only said it was fixed quickly and there is no reason to worry. I was really disappointed in their lack of transparency and "hand waving" response. I have gone to Paramount Tax and Accounting for the past several years and have always been very happy with their service. This past year, my accountant changed and so did the service. I called them to get things straightened out, leaving multiple messages and sending 2 emails within a few days for Dave, to be sure and get things rectified prior to my taxes being submitted. Very friendly, very quick customer service, and very expensive. I have some background in accounting, but was confused by some of the new tax laws, so I wanted help. I found out about Paramount because they are one of Dave Ramsey's ELPs. They had the heart of a teacher. They were very prompt in their communication with me and a pleasure to work with, but they never once mentioned over the phone or in email communication how much they would charge to do my taxes. By the end of filing my taxes, they hit me with a $500 charge. They were nice enough to knock it down to $400, but it was still too steep of a charge. I think I will go back to Turbo Tax in the future. I might go back to Paramount to double check my work if Turbo Tax says that I owe taxes. I knocked off two stars because of the high price and lack of communication about pricing. read more

Parker, who handled our tax return had a great personality and we had a great time during to process. I went here to get help filing an estate federal and UT tax forms. Bad software, bad advice which ended up costing the estate $1000 in tax penalties - Big promises and no delivery. Just let it be know that I called today to get some basic information and was given the choice to contact three different people. I chose three for Jon first and the phone just went dead. No further prompt, not leave a message, just silence. I called back twice and chose the other two choices. Same result. Called back a fourth time and just decided to wait for the tone to leave a message. Same result. They may provide excellent service (and by the reviews I'm pretty sure they do) but I can't think of a more unprofessional introduction to the firm. RACIST & DISCRIMINATION AGAINST MINORITY WOMAN? In Feb, I went here to get a quote for filing taxes and was told to meet with the data entry person. At the end of the consultation, the data entry person (female probably in her 20s with long hair) asked if they can match a competitor price called 2 CPAs in the separate room and closed the door. All 3 of them (all Caucasians) then came out of the room and cornered me in a circle and started throwing insults at me while physically pointing their fingers at me. One of the CPAs who claimed to the be co-owners's brother stood over me and continue to talk down to me (he must have weighed over 200lbs so I felt physically trapped in this circle) while they continued to throw insults at me. I was terrified and panicked so I walked out of the office and drove around the area because I feared that someone might follow me home and continue to harass me. I am a minority woman who speaks good English and yet was insulted and discriminated against by 2 CPAs and the data entry girl, all of whom is caucasian. Please do not trust such a business with your taxes that discriminates against minorities. I am mortified at the way I was treated because of my skin color and I am very disappointed that such a racist business exists! read more

First, let me say that as a small business owner I have been doing my taxes via an online tax software app for many years. This year I knew I needed to bite the bullet because of my business growth and I wanted to rid myself of that stress. The Paramount Tax Office are all so awesome!!! This is my second year using them, and I don't know what I was thinking not finding a CPA 10 years ago. I would always use Turbo Tax and stress my way through it, just crossing my fingers that I did everything right. But now, the stress has gone down drastically, and I know I am in very capable, qualified, hands. Having a CPA prepare taxes decreases my chances of being audited, and even if I am, I know that I have a team of professionals to answer all my questions and help me through it. Really, that is priceless. I would NEVER go any where else. I have priced it out and going to those "other" tax prep places where the people are trained the month before they prep your taxes is about the same! This is the first negative review I have ever written for any product/service. My experience with Paramount is that they are unethical, unprofessional, and vindictive. At this time, my guess is that my relationship with Paramount will likely end in legal action. They first did taxes for me in 2016. Things seems to go quickly and well. They told me I did not need to file a 2016 state tax return, which didn't make sense, but I trusted them. That was completely wrong, and I would have missed out for $3,000 had I not been able to file it in 2017. I sent my paramount accountant my expenses and some questions to start the 2017 process. That's when they notified me that my previous accountant no longer worked there, that there was a feud between them, and that I should ignore or report all communication between them. I found this really odd and annoying since it was weird they were involving clients in a feud that I could care less about. I then looked elsewhere for accounting service and found someone cheaper and more trustworthy. My new accountant informed me that I would have missed out on $3000 from following Paramount's advice. My new accountant needed my 2016 full tax returns to prepare my return for 2017. So since I had never received them from Paramount, I emailed them to request my returns. They did not respond for 5.5 days, so I emailed them again. The next day I got a response. The response was that they had already prepared my 2017 taxes (without permission) for me and they wanted me to pay for them. This FLOORED me. Finally, after 7 days and 5 emails demanding a copy of my 2016 tax returns, I got a response to my request. Today the response was that I would need to pay $300 for ELECTRONIC copies of MY 2016 tax returns that I had bought and paid for over a year ago. Jon Wilhelm is the Kaiser of Sleeze. read more
