Not worth it for the price. We were up in the air about 6 minutes (2 minutes at the top), 30 min boat ride and cost us $169. We expected at least 10 mins at the top but spent around 2 minutes at the top before they bring you down. Was really disappointed in the overall time. The experience itself was fun and the staff were friendly but feel like it was not worth the price, Barely had enough time to look around and take it in. Maybe $40 for a 6 minute parasail/30 min boat ride. We gave feedback to the staff that the time should be a bit longer as advertised. read more

Do not do Parasailing through them. I'm so disappointed that the photo package was a complete fail. We had to call them a day later in regards to not receiving our pictures and were told we would receive them in 5 minutes. Sure enough we received them but they were not of us, it was of a group of children from our ride. Then we were told the rest of the images were locked on the cameras card? I trusted we would get those images. Accidents happen, especially with technology but after reading the reviews and seeing this is common, I am more upset they have not figured it out or even warned us about this issue. They say a refund of $40 is being issued for the photos (haven't received it yet) and if we want images again we can pay over $200 for another ride with no guarantee the camera will save the pictures this time. First time parasailing and I was pretty scared. Great check-in experience. Once on the boat with about 10 passengers, our driver Ryan talked us through the basics. His crewman got us hooked up for our flight and off we went with no fuss or time to chicken out lol. Everyone talks about how peaceful and quiet it is up there and they're right. I was still scared the whole time (fear of heights) but I'm glad I did it. And the guys are good about getting you back on the boat dry unless you request to be dipped. Took the kids Parasailing for the first time. Actually it was all of our first time and it was great. All the kids called this as the top of our highs list of our trip! Everyone was so nice. I'm giving this a 1/5 because I paid for the photo package and haven't received anything yet. I was told it would be emailed to me. It's been 3 days and still nothing. I emailed them twice and still haven't received a response. This was my first time parasailing and I really wanted pictures of my experience. Also, the flight was only about 5minutes and 40 seconds (I timed it on my watch). I wouldn't recommend paying almost $200 for 2 people for a 5 minute flight with no pictures. Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend to purchase photo package! I did and more than half of our pictures came out blurry/ unfocused to the point where our facial features are indistinguishable! Also make sure you take a pair of extra clothes/shoes because if the guy navigating the boat is too busy talking with his colleague you'll slam straight into a big wave getting completely soaked read more

My experience with them was amazing from start to end. It was my first time going parasailing and they did everything to make me feel very comfortable. We reached late at the island and our parasailing appointment was just after that and we were late for it. But they held the boat for us for about 5 minutes coz we said we had other reservations just after. The two women at the counter were in constant touch with the crew on the boat and were very efficient. On the boat, they got us very comfortable and sent people up in pairs. The experience was brilliant, it's so peaceful up there, just the Pacific ocean to watch. They get your feet to touch the water towards the end of your ride. In all a very smooth experience. I would totally parasail with them the next time I visit Avalon. read more

I chose them to parasail with for my birthday and it was the best decision I have ever made. For starters they offered a buy one, get one free on your birthday and it worked out perfectly. We did the 800 ft. and bought the Go Pro package. Which I highly recommend, you can take awesome videos then crop still images after. Our instructors were amazing too. I was a little worried due to the other reviews on "tip pushers" but our guys only said it once and at the end. Which was rightfully so, they did a good job and new it! The ladies at the business front were also very accommodating and polite. Everyone just made our experience fun and exciting. On an "EXTREME" meter, parasailing would be one of the lower things to do, but it is indeed, pretty neat. We went at 10am and there were 2 other couples. The captain was really cool...total "Local" guy. When he asked who wants to go first, of course K said I did. So I went, and you get pretty high up there... as someone that is afraid of sharks, I must say, when he stopped the boat to let me fall into the water in the middle of dark, deep ocean, the image of a shark lurking at the surface waiting for a little 120 pound snack definitely crossed my mind. Like I said, it's "cool" but you only need to do it once. read more

Made a special trip to Catalina to go parasailing but when we arrived we found out that there boats were out for repair and that our reservation had been cancelled. Girl at counter said she called to inform us and that she left a voicemail. She verified the number with us but we never got a voicemail. Ultimately we were stuck with no parasailing adventure. I understand that things happen and that sometimes you have to cancel, but the customer service and tone from the girl at the counter was very mediocre. Something I would definitely recommend working on especially for a tourist location where great service is what people expect. When we finally re-book our reservation, I will gladly post another review on our experience at that point, hopefully it will be better. read more

Woah!!! 1 word to describe this parasailing experience. D.A.N.G.E.R.O.U.S. We didn't even get to parasail because the couple who went before us went straight into the ocean swimming.... Thank god they weren't tangled in the rope... Worst part is... We couldn't even get a refund. Terrible customer service and WOW the sailors were extremely racist!!! They straight up said " Black people brought us bad juju".... NEVER EVER GOING BACK AGAIN. ---------------------------------------------------- Update - 8/1/2012 The Owner of the business reached out and sincerely apologized about everything that happend. Apparently, the captain of the operation will be leaving the Parasail Catalina as a result and the owner offered the whole group another chance at New Port. For $30 more, they'll take photos of your flight and give it to you on an SD card. We made rezos on Saturday morning and were able to snag a 10:30am departure. Our boat took 9 of us out. We went up in 3 groups of 3 and had a fantastic time. They can dunk you if you want to get a little wet, too. I docked off two stars because we were told that rides last about 8 minutes long, and ours was just under 5 min. We were out a total of 35 minutes from the time we left the dock to the time we returned. Bummer. read more

For a relaxing time in Catalina, I'd definitely recommend parasailing. Be sure to make reservations through the phone beforehand. They have a yelp check in offer for a free upgrade from 600ft to 800ft. Once you get off the boat walk down Pebbly Beach rd to sign in. Than they advise you to walk back down to the water where two guys on a boat take you out. I opted for the 800ft ride and it was worth it. You fly high in the sky and get a beautiful view of the gorgeous island. It's quite and peaceful up there, I also got a view of couple of dolphins. I believe I paid $65 for the activity, make sure to tip the guys that take you on their boat! read more

We loved our experience with Parasail Catalina. We stopped at Avalon, Catalina during one of the days of our Carnival Cruise and booked this in advance. Our cruise had some delays with one of the boats that takes you from the ship to the island and we were worried we were going to miss our reservation for parasailing. We explained our conundrum to the people we booked the parasailing with and they still honored our reservation and were really nice about it. No problems at all. Neither myself nor my boyfriend had ever been parasailing and we had the most amazing time. It was such a cool experience flying off the boat and being so high up in the air. We had such an incredible view and it is so quiet once you are high up in the sky, which I didn't expect! The guys who worked on the boat did a great job and they were super fun. They also offered a photo package for $30 which we took advantage of. I'm so glad we did, the pictures turned out great. I made a reservation for 8 on a Saturday, we got a call from them and had a pleasure to speak with Grace, she wanted to make sure we knew where they were located. We got to their shop 15 minutes early like she told us to. I was super nervous because I'm afraid of heights, but after hearing her explanation and watched the video I was ready to go. We went up 800ft and it was AMAZING! What a beautiful experience. I went up with my husband and my daughter and we had a blast up there. The guys on the boat were super friendly. they played some great tunes and made the ride very relaxing. We got the photo package and they were able to take pictures of our whole group with one SD card. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND parasailing in Catalina Island. This experience was worth every penny. We found this when we were walking along the harbor area and were looking for something to do. We accidentally stumbled on it and saw a flyer for $45 a person and you can go up to 1400 feet, so we decided to come back later after checking out some other places. The one along the green pier was way more expensive $79/person and it could only go up 800 ft, plus from what we saw, they didn't take the boat out far from the harbor. We ended up coming back to this company, which has actually been around much longer than the competitor and the woman was very nice and helpful to address any concerns (mainly my fear of heights, if anyone has thrown up, and if anyone has died-that was a no). She also told us something the other company didn't, which was that I was too small to go alone, so my boyfriend and I had to go tandem, which he was slightly disappointed because he really wanted to be able to watch me and have me take pics of him. So we went tandem, got the last slot at 2pm, and they warned us there might not be enough time if the groups going with us would take too long. However, we were the last pair, and we had the longest and highest ride of the other two groups that went. The experience was amazing. I am terrified of heights and I can't swim, but they strap you in real good and once you get up there, the views, the fresh air and just everything about going up there with your companion was great. We even saw some seals and dolphins in the water, since they took us pretty far out. The guys operating the boats were great and made sure we were safe. I would definitely want to go again, esp with their prices and the height they take you, it's such a great deal! read more

Check in went smooth. Boat ride out was rough! Lots of movement and of course my nerves. I had actually chickened out and was just going to sit it out. BUT after seeing the first couple come back calm as a bomb and confirming with them that it wasn't scary, then seeing the next pre-teens leave shaky and come back equally as calm...I said screw it. I had an amazing time and the moment we were lifted off the boat, I immediately realized how bad ass and un-scary it was! I swear it was less scary and less cold than being on the rough boat ride. We all had a blast & can't wait to do it again. I seriously could have done without the constant "tip us" reminder from the guys on the boat though. They couldn't have been any more obvious, times 4! I had noticed the big script saying gratuity appreciated right beneath the steering where the driver gives you tips and instructions (you're reading it the whole time!) Then there's twenties taped above that (suggested tip? amirite?!) then finally as we are driving back into the harbor the loud question, did you all have fun?! YEAH!! Did we do a good job?! Sure! Well tips are very welcome then!! Come on guys. Not very tactful. Then come the tshirt sales pitch...$10 ea, so not bad, right? So I tell the driver I'll take one in a small. When we arrive I walk towards him with a $20...he snatches that sh*t so quickly from me and says thanks! Umm, that was for the tee presumptuous....not gonna cuss here...but yea. I had to tell him it was for the tee and he could keep the rest. I had my $20 ready to tip before the tshirts but I don't like being told, pushed and pressed in numerous ways. We went to Catalina Parasail on my birthday and had a great time. They were kind and understanding when our Ferry ran late. They also let us stack both the Early Bird and Birthday discounts, so we felt like we saved a good deal. We hopped on board the 11am with three staff and five other couples (all young 20-somethings.) The three guys running the boat were awesome! Charming, laid back, and bantering with each other...their personalities really helped make the trip. They were very confident in their work (which was very reassuring.) The were having fun and really encouraged us to relax and have fun, too. They took pride in their ability to dunk just your feet in the water--very precise in controlling the parachute! For $30 they also took photos of your parasailing trip. I didn't think it would be worth it until I saw the care and attention they put into photographing, including turning the boat around to get the perfect landscape shots and encouraging everyone to pose. The photographer was really into it and having fun hanging off the boat just to get that perfect shot. As for the parasailing experience itself, it is scary at first, but doesn't look as high up as you'd think (because all you see is blue ocean) so you don't get vertigo. It is peaceful and relaxing with a gorgeous view. HEADS UP: Even though we were on a morning trip, the water was choppier than normal, and we did get WET! Plan on wearing a swimsuit (with maybe a hoodie over it cuz it can get windy) and consider bringing a change of clothes. Non-water proof items like cell phones and cameras are not a good idea (stash it in the back office in the Parasail hut, or in the dry storage on the boat.) Although you can go to the hut after the trip to pay for photos and tip via credit card, it's a good idea to bring cash for the guys on the boat (I would bring $30 for photos + tip.) read more

Every summer I look forward to celebrating my birthday in Catalina ! I love the snorkeling but this year wanted to do something extra special since it was my 50th birthday ! This entire experience was great. It was our first time and my 2 daughters joined me. The 2 guys/ instructors were great and reassuring to us. We booked it online so we saved $20 per person which had to be a morning trip so we went at 9am. Since we didn't want to get completely wet in the cold water as it was early in the day, the instructor did exactly what we requested and only dipped our feet in. It was an AMAZING experience and I have already made plans for next year to return with family and friends to do it Again !!!! read more

Extremely disappointed. Booked this for my daughters 18th birthday. Got a text morning of stating time had been moved from 10am to 3:45pm (which would not work as we had to be back on the cruise by 3:45) so I called and was told no it's still on for 10am (no fault to the girl answering phones as there was no internet) then received another text saying it had been rescheduled. Decided to walk over to the check-in was told sorry due to weather they weren't parasailing but go try and talk to the girl down by the cruise ramp. She was beyond rude...I was really confused as there was others parasailing already. She then said our boat was not able to make it to the island and I'll be refunded and turned back around. There is another parasailing company on the green pier that was accommodating and friendly so my advice would be to book through them. read more

The captain of the boat keeps track of a lot- watching the wakes, looking for other boats, keep track of your updraft, and will give you a little dip if weather permits! My bf and I were able to play 1400 feet for only $50.00 We were up in the air for a good 15 minutes. Everyone that works here were nice. I know some comments earlier have stated that they were mad for having their time pushed back, but you gotta think, this is a "small small" shop where they need to earn the most profit while they can. Our time was pushed back for 30 minutes because we didn't answer our phone call, which made me kind of annoyed. But, when I sat down to think about it, I made reservation without having to pay for it first, so, of course, they had to call the group behind us go first since it's guarantee profit. Place at Catalina cannot afford to wait to see if you plan to show up since they don't get regular customers. This is a vacation destination!!!! read more

My first time parasailing. Even though Im scared of height, I made it! The view was breathtaking and I had so much fun. Reservation was easy. I was informed to book earlier sessions, because sometimes due to weather condition, they might cancel the later ones. There was a promotion for group of 5. We were upgraded to 800' from 600' for free. Can choose to go out up to 3 person at a time. To be dipped in the water or not. (Of course we wanted to get wet! so much more exciting.) Whole boat ride + para-sail was about an hour. We purchased the photo package. I would skip it next time. The photos my friends took with their cell phones were better. read more
