Called the Tech Guy to repair. 6 weeks and 7 service calls later still no A/C. several parts were replaced, unit is supposed to be under warranty but hundreds $$ was billed for service. Parts were put on that were not necessary and labor charges was billed for said parts. After their multiple failed attempts, they then blamed it on the house and said to call an energy expert. That was clincher. Amana Warranty would not talk to us, only to a repair tech and they refused to call. Multiple attempts were made to talk to owner without success. We got a 2nd opinion and they advised to install entirely new system. AMANA warranty will not cover. Decision was made to proceed, during removal of the previous system, the crew discovered the unit installed less than 2 years ago was improperly installed. Because of that there was black mold on floor and wall behind and under the unit. Had this gone undetected any longer, serious health issues could have resulted as well as serious damage to home. There was a multitude of things done wrong on this system. I feel bad that my son was victim to this. I'm also very thankful to the other company and their crew for uncovering it before it turned into major catastrophe and someone suffered mold poisoning.

However, when I spoke with them to start the service, I had to give a detailed list of the issues. I asked what the cost of the initial visit would be, as I'd already had an offer of $150/initial visit. I was assured it was a FREE inspection and only if they needed to do work to figure out the problem would there be a charge and only after we agreed to the charge. Ok. Day of service, a young man comes late. He says he has all of my notes, but hasn't looked at them, so he wants me to tell him the problem. I do. I take him and show him the septic tank, which was part of the complaint. He takes a picture, tells me he has to call his boss because he doesn't know anything about septic systems. ??? He sits in his truck for awhile, talking to his boss. Comes in, says we need the septic pumped out before they can do anything. And they have a truck to do that but he doesn't think it's available. That'll be $98. That's it! So, I emailed the company, explained the situation. They were sorry, but explained that the initial cost will be returned if we don't use their service or applied to the work they do. Didn't I ask this very thing in advance?! So I obviously found a different company to do the work. I did get a refund check - but what a hassle. Not an upfront company.

I found out I had to be home all day and wait for their call as they couldn't give me an appointment window and would only call me shortly before arriving. I was ok with that as I needed this leak handling quickly. I waited all day and around 2pm, they called me and stated they couldn't make it out at all today. Not even after normal business hours. They said they wanted to reschedule for Friday. Well I already had plans on Friday and couldn't sit at home waiting around around all day so I explained that wouldn't work and condo they at least come out tomorrow and they said they schedule was already full. So I felt like my business wasn't really important to them and they didn't care about me as a customer. I went with another company and they came out timely and were very professional. It was an even bigger slap in the face with I got an ad in the mail the next week stating they have 24/7 on call availability and they still left me hanging. Other plumbers gave me an estimate over the phone for free. Tried to sell all kinds of warranty options ,I needed a plumber, not a salesman. Got the work done by my usual guy even though I had to wait a few days because he was busy. Maybe his fees being 50% lower are why he is so busy.

several months after moving into our house (built in late 1990s and passed home inspection with no…read moremajor concerns), we needed our water heater replaced which was done by Peterman. The hot water was still running out afterwards so they were contacted again. They said it was an electric problem so a full inspection was done by their electrician. We were told the electric panel needed to be replaced and was a fire hazard. If we went ahead with replacing it, the oven would need to be rewired requiring destruction of part of the walls leading to the kitchen. There were also smaller electrical repairs that could be done as well (outlets). If we repaired everything, it would be around $9000. We got a 2nd opinion from a local electrician who had zero concerns about the panel. When Peterman was contacted about this discrepancy, we were told it would be escalated to the supervisor who would contact us but over several weeks we did not receive a call. Due to the conflicting reports, we got a 3rd opinion to be sure, and again, there was no recommendation to replace the panel and the repairs Peterman suggested did not amount to $9000 in their opinion. We did have a good experience with them prior to this (regarding HVAC) but if you plan to work with them, would strongly recommend a second opinion for large projects. We have ended our monthly membership with them and will not be working with them again.
