Lovely little perfume store in the Place des Vosges. The owner of the store seems extremely passionate about perfumes. He was working with another customer when we came into the store, and although I don't understand much French, I could tell he is passionate about his products.
Since the proprietor mixes all the fragrances himself, many scents are unique, and nothing like the 10 popular perfumes every basic bitch wears (I'm looking at you wearer of Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, etc.). The sales associate who helped me was very sweet and asked me what type of scents I liked before recommending several perfumes to try. She sprayed each scent on a tester strip and also on different areas on my arm so I can smell how each scent reacts with my skin/body chemistry. I ended up purchasing Parfum d'Orient, a musky, spicy scent with notes of jasmine. Despite being called "parfum", the staying power is probably closer to that of eau de toilette. i didn't mind since a musky scent could be a bit overpowering in eau de parfum form.
Pricing is reasonable. Perfumes only come in one size, 100ml, and cost 62€ for a glass bottle, while those in the metal bottles are 48€ - the packaging is the only difference. I really wanted to buy the metal bottle since it was cheaper and less likely to break on my flight back to the states, but the perfume I wanted was only available in the glass bottle. That was a little annoying. I think they really should offer both glass and metal for all their products. Otherwise the whole shopping experience was pleasant and I really like the perfume I purchased. read more
