Wow! I wish I had read the Google reviews before walking in. The owner was extremely rude and showed zero customer care. I went for the first time to inquire about braid prices and possibly book an appointment, but I was met with unfriendly faces from the start. Her tone was aggressive, and she kept smiling in a condescending way while speaking to me. Even the employee at the door looked at me like I didn't belong there. The interaction made me so uncomfortable that I changed my mind about buying anything. At first, I thought maybe I had done something wrong, until I read other reviews and realized this seems to be a pattern here. This is not how a business should treat potential customers. read more

Went to get a weave installed. Was told she added a treatment for itchy scalp. My scalp is inflamed and irritated. I called owner to get hair removed and help with my situation since I just got it installed Friday 3 days ago. Got yelled at and told it was my fault. Then told it was the hair. Then told I should have washed the hair. Rather then try to help me and find a solution to my issue since I spent so much money to get this done I got yelled at and told it was my fault. You've come to the right place! I have returned here several times to buy wigs for Halloween costumes and other general mischief. As noted in other reviews, this shop carries a mix of human-hair wigs at reasonable prices, and cheaper but still good quality synthetic wigs. What a selection--literally all the colors of the rainbow! The owner is such a sweetheart. When was the last time you had a shopping experience that was FUN? She obviously loves her products and will happily watch you try on one after the other, oohing and ahhing over your latest wig choice, well past the point where most salespeople would be thinking, "Enough already, buy something!" I have also bought clothes here... not super high quality, but very fashionable, at incredibly low prices. Why spend $200 on skinny jeans when they're on the way out anyway? Here you can get them for $30! It is true that the owner is often occupied with styling customers' hair, and she does not seem to have other people working in the store (or hasn't any time that I've been there). But she does a good job of going back and forth, keeping both people happy...and there has never been more than one other customer in the store, any time that I've shopped there. When you come out of the dressing room to ask what she thinks about a particular dress, you feel like you are in a one-woman catwalk show, with both the owner and the woman getting her hair styled cooing, "Oh honey, that looks good on YOU!" Every time I'm here, I just get the sense that people are having a good time. And we could all use a little more of that in our lives. I have also bought party dresses here (cocktail attire/wedding, not ball gown). They are cheap and relatively low quality, but I have been very happy with them... They look nice and these tend to be the kind of dresses you buy for a special occasion and only wear once anyway. This store has some really fun and unique styles. read more

Definitely don't come here. Came here at 11:30 a.m. on a Wednesday to see if I could buy a brush, and the sign said to "ring the door and wait for the buzzing sound, then pull the door". Well I rang the bell a few times and nobody came to the door even though the business said that it opened at 10:30 a.m.. I looked through the window and could see 3 people in the store. So I rang it again but this time someone started shouting slurs at me and telling me to "get the **** away from my store". Mind you, I don't know these people, nor have I ever had any interactions with them before. 2 other people walked up about 5 minutes later and tried to open the door, I told them to not even bother and then told them what just occurred. Upon seeing me talk to these people, someone from inside the shop comes to the front door, opens it, and starts trying to ask me questions about what I'm doing, telling me I should leave and that someone inside the shop was going to call the police. Also, S.P.D., Yelp is not for whether or not another place affects somewhere else you've been that's chic and overpriced, but your actual review of an actual place. Nothing you've written is a direct review of the place, and now you've given this actually pretty fantastic wig shop THAT YOU'VE NEVER BEEN TO the lowest rating it could get on a site that people use to see where they bring their business. That's some pretty shameful shit right there. As I HAVE been to Parisian Style, I will note that, as a performer who uses wigs, this is a great place to find wigs. If you're just the once-a-year-wig-in-a-bag-on-Halloween type, then you could find what you're looking for too, but if you're serious, they have great extensions and wigs, and the woman who runs the place is very friendly. They seem to service many people of color with wigs and extensions, from what I can tell. If you're a performer and you need a wig, I actually go here more than I would go to the Garment District. read more

I am very very happy with my purchase from Parisian Style. I needed a wig for a costume that I'd be wearing 4 days/week for the entire month of October. I work at a scare park and needed something that wouldn't fall apart or look too fake/cheap, but it couldn't be too expensive. It also needed to handle my mini top hat fastened with a comb and small barrettes. Well, I'm 4 weeks in and the wig has been amazing. So many people actually thought it was my real hair! It fits great, keeps its style well, and my hat has never come loose. All I do is finger comb it. Did I mention it's human hair? Way less itchy than those plastic hair wigs. So how much did I pay for this? Only $35!!! I will say that I didn't think the service was great, but not bad enough to bring it down a star. The woman who I assumed was the owner was unraveling another woman's braids the entire time I was in there and didn't help me much. However, the layout of the store was pretty simple and I was able to try on the wig before I bought it. (She had me put on a wig cap) I'm now in love with this place. Everyone has asked me where I got my wig and they want to go as well. It's totally worth it to spend $35 on a really good wig than $19 at a costume store for a really awful looking one. I also purchased a wig stand for $5 and the wig cap she gave me was free. Wonderful place! I hope some of you choose to shop here. read more

I've attempted multiple times prior to the pandemic and during the pandemic to visit this store and purchase hair. However, each time the store is completely closed. On one occasion I called prior to going and was told the store is open, only to arrive and find this was not the case. They have an abundant supply, however accessing it proves to be more difficult than I imagined. The hours posted are misleading and I imagine they lose a lot of business as the shop is visibly closed and doors locked despite listing on website and door that they are open. read more

Where to begin??? I've been coming to this place for about 4 years now and have been nothing less than impressed with both the service and dedication of the owner and her staff. I walked in after another place COMPLETELY ruined my hair and this woman not only "nursed" it back to health but had the "audacity" (LOL!) to tell me no when I wanted to do something that wouldn't have been healthy. I was completely stunned because people don't tell me no but still I trusted her judgment, especially since she basically took a cut in payment to do what she thought was best for me rather than what I wanted to do. TRULY someone who cares more about the health of your hair than the size of her pockets. I appreciate that. I have NEVER encountered anything other than top notch customer service here and for that I send people here all the time. I have even wondered how she puts up with some of the whackadoodles that stroll in there (and believe me, there are a LOT!) but Iris and her staff are always helpful, kind and courteous. I can't possibly imagine anyone giving this place a bad review unless you're a bigger whack job than the ones I've seen over the years... Anyway, I love this place, I always get great service and my hair ALWAYS looks AMAZING (even if its different than what I originally went in for)! Excellent beauty supply store and hair salon, especially for people with coarse, curly hair (i.e. African decent) or those seeking extensions and/or wigs. So many products to choose from for a variety of hair styles. Iris and Francine are fantastic. I recently got my hair done in medium thick shoulder length box braids which they did in only 3.5hrs!! I am so happy with the result. Another person had their hair done in faux-locs which turned out great and another getting crochet braid weave. They do it all. My mom has purchased three wigs from this shop and loves them. Iris allows you to try wigs before you buy. People with poor reviews of the store don't realize that the staff concentrating on doing customers' hair won't drop what they're working on to run over and cater to you because you just walked in looking. The staff are all personable and helpful, and excellent at their craft! They want to make sure the customer in the chair is getting what they want, but still paying some attention to people just browsing by asking if they need help, while still working. My first trip to this store, they were closed when the sign on the door said they should be open. That left me a bit annoyed, because i feel if a shop tends to make their own hours, they shouldnt keep hours posted in the window. BUT, they have great reviews and the window display is super impressive, so I went back, after calling first. The woman who owns the place is very nice and helpful and listens to what you need and want in a wig. There are 'normal looking wigs' and more costume like funky colored ones. Even the non human hair ones are very high quality. I'm happy with my purchase from here. we even discussed a few suggestions that might help stop the itching i always feel from wigs. read more

I needed a wig for a performance and found the PERFECT wig here about a month ago. The owner was very helpful and taught me how to put it on and use the clips it came with. I had gone to another store the previous day and found wigs that were okay, but none were the quality of the one I got at Parisian. The wig is so natural-looking that I wear it sometimes when I just feel like being someone else or when I'm having a bad hair day. I will definitely go here again if I ever need another wig. read more

I got my hair twisted here a while back and was very satisfied with the results. I was concerned about rough treatment of my hair (an issue for people with highly textured hair), but the stylist knew exactly how to work with it. Like others have stated, the owner is very friendly and helpful (I made the mistake of going a day before Halloween so it was super busy, but still had my hair finished in a reasonable amount of time). There are not a whole lot of hair braiding places in that area so it was a great find! read more

I LOVE THIS STORE!!! If you are looking for a wig of any sort, high quality - great price. And if you need anything at all related to enhancing the quality of your hair, Look no further. This shop has everything. I've bought synthetic wigs and real human hair - both of great quality. Then I found out the owner - who is as nice as she can be was a really awesome weavologist! No really the best, she's done my hair several times - single braids only took her 2 1/2 hours where I've sat in the chair up to 5-8 hrs at other places. Plus she's down high quality sewn in - seriously you did not know the difference. Plus it wasn't too tight and it looked AWESOME! Don't be so quick to criticize someone who helps people that need it. Not everyone can afford really expensive hair peices. In fact, she also sells quallity human hair wigs and pieces, and can order anything for you if it is not in her store. No, it is not chic, or upscale, or classy, but she does serve a purpose.
