We liked the school, but assumed the charter school would be better. We accepted when our name came up on the waiting list. My son was assigned quite a bit of home work at the charter school for a first grader. And they were completely inattentive to his IEP where he needed help with his stutter, never getting into group therapy. He wasn't happy there, so we returned to Art City Elementary for second grade with Ms. Roylance. We mentioned his need for assistance with his stutter, and within two weeks, he was attended to and has one-on-one time with a speech therapist. The ladies in the front office know my kid by name and my voice on the phone--and I'm not heavily involved, I'll admit. I'm not on PTA. I just had a baby, I'm not in the school all the time. I'm so impressed with this school. My son is very happy and safe there.

Children had been playing outside (including 1 child she said wouldn't be 2 until April) with no supervision for over 20 minutes from the time we pulled up until we approached. My husband works in construction and found several safety hazards walking the property. It is obvious that safety measures are not being met. Children should have shoes on when out in the "yard". The back gates were open. The lady that runs the place admitted that her other 2 workers do not work and she does everything. She also made racist comments about the neighbor when I saw a child of that race under her care. I am sure there are people that are happy here and have had their kids here for a long time, but I understand why there is no state licensing yet.

My child has been attending this school for three years and I can't say enough good things about…read moreit. The students stay with the same teacher from kindergarten until 6th grade which greatly decreases first day fears. The teachers also get to know your child and their specific needs. The education philosophy is also a huge plus for me as they focus on emotional, cognitive and social development using a hands-on approach. Overall, I think this school is amazing, I couldn't imagine sending my child anywhere else.

If you have children with special needs that require IEPs, just do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY…read morefrom this school. Their special Ed department sucks! Students progress aren't being monitored properly. When my child attended Treeside (2018-2019) I didn't receive progress reports for quite a while. I ended up bringing an advocate with me to a meeting with the whole team do to that reason. Let me just say how defensive everyone in that meeting got just because I was advocating for my child. From stuff like: "If I had a magic pill I can take to get it all done" or the principal saying "we do what we can". Those are no excuses as to why I wasn't being informed of my child's progress. It was very uncomfortable for me as a parent having to hear such thing from them. Now their cafeteria is a hot mess . I was always there every morning with my kids & I can tell you that there isn't always staff watching the kids other than the cafeteria ladies. There are kids running , throwing balls etc. I was even shoved by a few kids while in there. The Cafeteria ladies are very sweet , but I think the school makes their job harder by them having to be the ones to remind the kids that it's time to go to class, line up or simply having to discipline kids themselves. Their carpool lane is a NIGHTMARE , man that still needs a lot work. It scares me that one day a child will get hit by a car. Save yourself the trouble!

I spent 18 long months at Provo Canyon School and it was THE best thing that could have ever happened to me. From the age of 13 I ran away from home, was arrested several times and did things I hate to even think about. Deep down I just needed help. Provo Canyon School changed my life.Provo Canyon School Saved my life and Provo Canyon School saved my family. Simply put, regardless of what mental or physical struggles i was facing while at PCS I was expected to meet the schools high expectations. Hard day at school, so what. There are rules to follow as an individual and as a team/room/unit. Homesick, yep that sucked and on top of it I still had to be obedient individually and as a team. If your kid decides to make life choices like run away from home, do drugs, and break the law. Then your child is capable of graduating from Provo Canyon School like I did. In fact, when they are crying and complaining on phone calls that," hey this place sucks, they arent treating me well." Yada yada yada, then its time for you parents to pull up your big boy pants and say, "well son I wish you wouldnt have made the very choices you did to make it into Provo Canyon School. I hope you obey the rules and learn to be a team player fast so you can graduate and come home to us. Talk to you next week kiddo. Love ya! " The worst thing you can do as a parent is rip your kid out of this program prematurely. Remember, your kids big boy pants got him in here. Not you! So let him in there as long as PCS will keep him. As hard as the program was, I still call it home for 18 months of my life. Iam sooooo thankfully my parents had it in them to let me be there as long as it took. I am thankful for the roomates that I came to trust and care for while i was there. Iam thankful for the teachers and therapists and unit leaders. I have been back to visit several times over the past 15 years and while I was in the program I got to see graduates return to the school on occasion also. There are staff at provo canyon that are truly amazing and really don't deserve losing a job but I say to these staff that losing your job should be worth it when it comes to shutting down decades of unchecked and raw abuse! I cannot say this enough parents DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE! it will only cause them to have more trauma then they walked in with.

It has been rebuilt and is pretty cool, nice new style and very clean. But, the lack of windows…read moremakes it feel like a federal prison. It's also a maze for first timers. But other than that, pretty rad.
