THE UP-SIDE: A basic hostel with all the basics. Those basics are... basic…read more THE DOWN-SIDE: Where to start? Front desk staff was continually unorganized and befuddled. Rooms like prison cells, with barely enough room to turn around. Literally. I'm not fat but I had to turn sideways to get up the aisle between the two bunkbeds. Even then, I was scraping against the beds. It's that impossibly tight. Keeping up with the prison theme, the ensuite bathroom is a joke. You have to press a button to get the sink and shower water to come out, and it last about 10 seconds. Then, you press it again. And again. It's designed that way. What an absolutely ridiculous and moronic design for a shower. Even with a quick shower you spend half your time pressing the button as you hurry to wash off. Forget about a relaxing shower after a day of seeing the city - this shower is work! There are no shelves or towel racks in the bathroom, making it almost impossible to function efficiently. Oh, and the rooms are hot, and if you open the windows, they open to an inner courtyard - a courtyard filled with young people screaming and laughing till 2 am just outside your window. THE SUM-IT-UP: Stay here for that genuine prison experience.

I asked for information from one of the staff members on lockers and received several eye rolls as a response. Hilariously poor customer service. The rooms are more like cells - they pack 6 people into a tiny room, with zero space for people or bags. Security is also minimal at best. So unsafe, unhelpful, and unclean - avoid at all costs.

You have to pay for breakfast and there is one shower for men, and one for women. Needless to say they are terrifying and disgusting. Also the staff isn't punctual, the website is incorrect and the entire place reeks like mold and garbage. I know it's cheap but you'd be way better off getting a nicer hostel in a better part of London because this poorly placed piece of junk will make up for it's low nightly rates by making you spend tons on daily bus fare. Cheapest in London with the friendliest staff on hand…read more However the location isn't entirely central but still easy enough to get to whereever you wanna go with night busses and so on Easy to get to from Stansted airport. Just get the Terravision bus for 6 quid to Stratford and hop on the 104 which will take you to the front door of the hostel. Or if your getting the tube. Get off at Upton Park station walk to the right and you'll be there in less than 5 minutes They've nearly completed the place with a fresh paint jobs that just looks awesome. Most rooms now are fitted with memory foam mattresses so you'll sleep like a baby. No night reception so if you think your gonna get in after midnight then you best call them and they'll arrange a key in the deposit box outside for you.
