We had a neuropsychological study conducted and found out our son has ADHD and dyslexia. Where the other schools were unable to teach him effectively and even categorizing our son as a behavioral problem, McLean understood his struggles and brought him to grade level in 2 years. The school is a very supportive environment for the students but also for the parents. It is a supportive and engaged parent community and I am proud to be heavily involved with the Parents Association. In reading some of the reviews, I am saddened to hear that other families had issues with bullying. When we were made aware of another student engaging in bully-like behavior with our son, the school reacted swiftly and addressed the issues. We look forward to continuing with McLean for the foreseeable future.

This school is the place to be over the two other schools in the consortium, Paint Branch High and Springbrook High. The music and theatre departments are the strongest in the school and the best. Holding up to 2200 students it certainly does its justice. With its legendary Mr. D'Anna at its hands in the theatre department and Mr. Eising at its music department this school speaks for itself. This is truly the best place to send your child for what ever they want to major in, Blake will prepare any student.

Bowie State University is a gem of a school right in the heart of Prince George's County. If you…read moreare considering college, pay them a visit to see it for yourself. I have come to events on campus many times over the years, but my most recent visit was eye-catching. Significant resources have been poured into the campus as new buildings and grand refurbishments and renovations continue apace. This should be the norm for all HBCUs around the country. It is a testament to the value the state places on its universities, although the level of investment pales in comparison to College Park. The quad is the envy of other schools, some with higher endowments, tuitions, and budgets. It is big enough that it feels like a university but still small enough to feel like home. My favorite feature/building/concept is the Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community (ELLC). Home to students who want to be entrepreneurs, here they live (brand new dorms), eat, and learn (classrooms and other spaces). There is a business and creative synergy that is self evident all throughout the space. I took a cohort of school age mentees for a tour and lunch at BSU. They were over-the-moon about the Student Center Dining Hall's food and modern decor. The food choices included fresh vegetables and fruits, custom made salads and bowls, hand crafted pizza, grilled to order items, and high quality rotating items from a self-serve bar. The seating area had huge windows where the sunlight shone through. The academic and recreational buildings were top tier. But what struck me most was the energy, passion, and intelligence of the students and faculty. They treated my mentees like little brothers coming to campus to learn from older siblings. The students seemed supportive of each other. D9 organizations got along too., but the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. always raise the bar. Bowie State University should be proud of the work they continue to do and the student needs they continue to meet. Five stars easily earned!

They also have a parking lot but on this Saturday morning it was designated for vendors. The school is extremely clean with nice classrooms. The nongender bathroom didn't have working locks which I hope is fixed. The gender bathroom, for females, was very nice and clean.

The 2011-2012 years was the peak of this school. The basketball team were 3 peat champion, teachers were good, and student life was balanced. I have a sister who graduated in 2016 & a cousin who graduated in 2020 at this school and it has really gone downhill. Lot of gang fights, bomb threat to this school, and the environment turning very ghetto. This place now sucks and I wouldn't send my kids here in fear for their lives.
