We did the almost 8 mile hike up to wineglass lookout, over to Hazards Beach, then back to the parking lot. It was a great hike through mountains, to beaches, and through the bush. So many places to lookout and see the water. Loved the hike along Hazards Beach to see the shells and blue water. The trails are well groomed and well marked. The steps up to the first and second lookout are a gradual steep climb so you aren't immediately climbing. It allows you to enjoy the scenery more.

It has the best views, pristine beaches, and rugged landscapes. Hikes and walks are everywhere. Pick one. The crown jewel of the park is Wineglass Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with dazzling white sands and turquoise waters. We hiked up to the lookout and it doesn't seem real. It's worth every step. The wildlife is equally exciting. Everything is making tons of noises. Wallabies are hopping about and diverse birdlife can be spotted throughout the park. It's not uncommon to find a curious wallaby grazing near the trails. Freycinet is also a haven for seashells the beaches are covered in them. For lunch, make sure you go picnicking by Honeymoon Bay. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The water looks dyed. I couldn't believe it.

If feeling adventurous then one could also hike down to the beach itself but this would add a few more hours. Being quite popular at least the parking lot was large so no worries about finding a spot. A large map and guidance boards provided a good overview of the hiking options, warnings and some history. Typical park bathrooms (functional and mostly clean) were available. If you're lucky you may even come across a wallaby or two. The conditions at the lookout was overcast in fall but still a worthwhile vantage point to see this landmark and the surrounding park. At the top the modern walkways made it easy to traverse, setup photos from many vantage points without the crowds or just relax on some of the rock benches that day.

There are a few way to get to this amazing, isolated beach: 1. Hike down from the wineglass bay lookout-a great and long walk (especially going back up likee 1000 stairs) 2. Take a water taxi from Coles Bay town to Hazard beach with Freycinet adventures then cross the isthmus on the largely flat trail (35 min leisurely walk) over to the beach 3. Hike down, water taxi back from Hazard beach-must book a specific time in advance We did #2 and really enjoyed our time. Had a 9 am pick up, arrived Hazard B at 9:30-got to Wineglass B a bit after 10-walked halfway down the huge beach-ate a snack, enjoyed the sun-walked back to Hazard B-walked a good bit of that even longer beach then hitched our ride back. Cost around $Aud 60 pp Round trip.

The highlight is undoubtedly the clear and bright teal water. I couldn't believe the color of the water. This spot is the ultimate lunch spot. We packed simple sandwiches and ate amongst the begging seagulls. We sat on some of the smooth rocks and soaked in the serene atmosphere. The weather was perfect--crisp and sunny.

A must stop when driving Tasmania's east coast to catch the blow hole in action. We got lucky and…read morewere able to see an active blowhole with some large spouts of water. Best way to the parking spots was turning off of A3 onto Douglas Street and driving to the end of the road. We reached the blowhole in less than 10 minutes walking over mostly dry rocks. Depending on where and how close you stood to the blowhole the rocks could be quite slippery. If you're not able to drive up to the Bay of Fires, a decent collection of orange lichen covered rocks were here as well. Penguin viewing was also a possibility and usually best at night when they return from their ocean runs. Guidelines were posted right at the entrance.

The staff were great; the guides were informative and obviously committed to the animals and all the staff were friendly. We were there for the devil and quoll feedings - and had time with the wombats of course! The park adjoins a lagoon and wetlands and is much bigger than you'd expect. The features included a large walk-through aviary and an historic walk to the remains of Bicheno's early coal mine. We stayed for lunch at the cafe and were glad we did - simple but fresh and well made. This park was one of the highlights of our stay in Bicheno.
