1400 Main - dog waste inside-took weeks to be cleaned up

    1400 Main

I have lived at 1400 Main Apartments for a little over 8 years and do not recommend them at this…read moretime. The location, community, events, maintenance staff and Tanner in the office are all absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, I've again experienced unethical behaviors. I now understand the abundance of unethical lease clauses. I moved out at the end of February, it just isn't worth it. There are too many things to list but to name a few, the stairwells are dirty, spit, food, dog waste etc... it took them over a month to clean up vomit in a common stairwell. Residents do not clean up after their pets and management does not reinforce this policy. Doors are left unsecure. I personally have experienced harassment from the Manager, Shay and have the gaslighting emails to prove it. Leases were constantly sent with wrong dates, prices, terms etc....-be careful what you sign. I honestly thought Shay was making an effort to be better, but have recently learned otherwise. I reached out to AJH management several times only to be ignored. Upon moving, as a courtesy, I sent them some videos of concerning issues I found in my apt. We'll see if they do the right thing for all residents well being. Unfortunately, Shay uses her position as a place of power instead of service and TBH I find it unprofessional, childish and exhausting. 1400 Main has so much potential, the location is perfect and the neighborhood vibe could truly have a positive affect on future residents lives. That being said, if the owner of 1400 Main Apartments would ever be inclined to ethically clean this place up, I'd love to & can help. Residents should not have to see this mess everyday or deal with harassment in a place they call their home!

No issues with that so far. Cons include thin walls, where I have had to resort to my couch to sleep more times than I can count due to hearing a neighbor's music since one can hear everything through these walls. Super disappointing. People drive like fast & furious through parking garages. Printers in the business center do not function half the time and so I have also been told. No functioning buzzer system to allow guests in.

The Residences at The Street - Del Mar floor plan-living area

Single…read moreand in my early 30s, I wanted to live in a location with access to a number of restaurants and bars, but I did not want to drive 40 minutes from Pittsburgh to Washington. The Residences turned out to be the ideal spot. Though I initially balked at the monthly rent, I found it to be well worth the price. (The price point also keeps out the rift-raft, as residents hold down jobs and live stable lives.) With such a new facility, I've never had to call maintenance--though it's my understanding that they tackle any issues that pop up within hours. The outside perks include 5 eateries/bars at The Street (the plaza the building is in), a patio with a grill and propane fire pit, and a sizable parking lot where you'll never have to look for a spot. Inside, I make use of the workout room (2 treadmills, elliptical machine, bike, free weights, yoga mats, etc.) and the Keurig coffee machine in the lobby. I have a one bedroom apartment, which to me has three great features: the walk-in closet, granite counter tops in the kitchen, and the washer/dryer unit in (another) closet. The management is very personable, and they understand that the building is your home. To foster a sense of community, the management team has organized game-watches, a Kentucky Derby party, an end-of-summer event, a Christmas door decorating contest. The weekly donut spread in the lobby on Friday mornings is also popular with residents. I will be moving out-of-state over the summer to for another career opportunity (academia...), but it's safe to say that I will miss living in The Residences. Quite frankly, it's just a really nice place to live.

You can hear everything that is going on in the building, including people coming in and out, the people above and below you (literally can hear someone using the bathroom if you're in your bathroom). It is not worth the amount of money they want to charge for rent. And then the amenity fee on top of that, even though the gym and pool are not maintained well.

It's not a secured building and that is one of the reasons I moved here. To find out that a storm hit it and knocked it out which was not true. My carpet was replaced and it is falling apart they sent someone out and he stated it was garbage and it needs to be replaced correctly and he refuses to fix it I took pictures because I'm sure there going to try and charge me for it when I move out. But you can tell it's a defect. They did a patch job. I can't even vacuum because it clogs up my vacuum and stops working. I have called every week for the last month Jim has came over and took pictures. Said someone would be in touch. No response. Dogs bark all hours of the night and day the halls smell like dog pee since they let new tenants move in with these huge dogs I swear there peeing in the halls I have to put air freshener outside my doors. I go outside at night because I work all shifts and there's people just standing out by the cars at 12am 4am in the morning. I must say I'm mad I resigned my lease. It's not safe. Most of the time I'm at my parents. If you can find somewhere else to move to I would.
