They THINK and take the person that needs 6 liters of IV and 3 pints of blood instead of letting you sit there because the person with indigestion was first. As an ex-military man that is important. i'm shocked i feel like i'm having a heart attack and i let the lady know the pains getting worse in my chest and was told by the er department to go back and sit down it is november 19, 2025. so im sitting in the er department waiting for my turn i guess having a heart attack on the floor in the er department is ok by their standards o and the assistant was laughing at me in the back ground uh has gotten worse at the parma hospital system not nice workers, unfriendly, i feel as if im burden to the staff here and ive also had bad experiences here in the er department a nurse shoved a bend needle in my arm and i had told the mean heavy lady it hurt and it was bruised immediately and she told me it was fine. they also left me waiting in an er room for surgery for about 10 hrs and not 1 person came to check on me.. the sign said they check the patients every hr and when i asked the nurse she said i wasn't important enough and they had more important patients. so disappointed but ill share this post on all the social media read more

Hubby had doc. Appointment. Doc asked for chest X-ray/blood work. We arranged at Parma. Off to doc office. Not 2 miles away she calls and said I can't treat him in office return to ER. 1 ;30 pm in ER. They drew blood again put IV port in them said the could not find X-ray. We left at 7 pm without seeing anyone after blood draw. ( Drawn 2 x within an 1.5 hours. 5 hours in ER waiting. Never again. read more

78 year old woman with laceration needs a couple of stitches. Tuesday afternoon and evening, the Emergency room is not crowded. Initial assessment by nurse was 1 hour wait, now in hour 3 and only a few new folks coming in. Waiting room freezing with overdone A/c. They say they can't change thermostat but did have a few blankets for two patients. Tv droning on, NASCAR channel, and nobody has ability to change station. Receptionist has little info and no apparent interest. No idea or feedback on when might be seen as they are busy this time of day "handing out meds" somewhere else. Ok. So does anyone know how long that takes before they start taking patients again? No concept of showing where we are in the queue like Cleveland Clinic does. Maybe they could hand out numbers like a bakery since you are going to be treated in arrival order anyway. Patient and i are both hungry (hour 4 now). No food except vending junk food. I volunteer to run to Burger King and get coffee for others since none available. Rating: you probably will get medical care here. And for sure a bill, but don't expect anything like comfort, care or conveniences while waiting for help. This could be so much better with so little effort that you wonder if they choose to be mediocre. There's even a sign directing folks to the emergency room...the wrong way on a one way. read more

Despite being a long time Parma resident, I have never gone to Parma hospital, and always took the trek across town for an alternative option. Two weeks ago, I decided to give them a shot and it will definitely be my last. Upon checking in the waiting room for stitches, I noticed the waiting room was packed so I talked to the receptionist at the desk and suggested maybe I should try another hospital, but was assured the wait would only be a few minutes as those people were waiting for different services. To be clear, I am not a Karen and fully understand greater emergencies happen that require more attention than me which is why I offered to leave in the first place. About two hours in, a fellow patient approached me and said she had been waiting hours before we arrived, so there was obviously a back log. While this can be expected in an ER, the part I am angry about is that I was blatantly lied to so they could triage me and charge my insurance $400 and me another $150 for a blood pressure reading. Now ask yourself what is wrong with the medical system and why we have people who can't afford coverage.... Shame on the UH administration, definitely explains why Cleveland Clinic is #1! I had to go in to get my finger glued because I had a cut that would not stop bleeding. I was having a terrible day but these people were so kind to me! I came into contact with 2 male nurses, a female physicians assistant, a lady that took my payment, and a lady that gave me a tetanus shot. Each of them were amazing. I was already feeling very nervous/anxious because of everything that I was dealing with today (4/13/21) around 5:30PM. Wonderful staff! My 82 year old mother was brought to Parma Hospital E.D. by my community's city ambulance after a terrible fall at home. The ED doctor was horrible and without care or compation. She manipulated a huge skin tear on my mother's hand without any type of local anesthetic. She recommended a sling for my mother's left arm due to severe pain in my mother's left arm, shoulder and chest and then said she was discharging my mother to home. She offered no wound care or pain management post discharge. My mother has Parkinson's and needs a walker to walk, which she could not use with her arm in a sling. I pointed tHis out to the ED Doc who didn't seem to care. I had to insist that she keep my mother for up to 23 hours of observation so I could make arrangements with a skilled nursing facility to care for my mother's wound care, pain management and physical and occupational therapy. This is not the Parma hospital I have known for the past 60 years -- thank you UH for screwing up a great community hospital with rent-a-doctors. Shame on You! read more

I never write reviews on anything. Anyone who knows me would say I rarely complain or bitch about things. Adapt and overcome, then move on. This situation from the very start got me pretty upset and hopefully will help someone if they find themselves in an emergency. Working on something for my truck, I was using a grinder with a Rigid metal cutting wheel cutting a piece to use. Wasn't paying close enough attention, the piece pinched the blade and ripped it from my hands, still spinning full speed. Well it hit right on the side of my knee and cut it to the bone. I am a Marine and have seen and had my share of serious injuries and before I covered the wound, took a quick look at the meat and how big the cut was. Adrenaline going and no one around, took my dog inside, grabbed a bottle of water and jumped in car. Every time I stepped or bent my knee, the wound split all the way open, pretty bad pain , and was getting lightheaded. I wasn't going to make it to wade park VA, so headed towards closest ER. Thinking it would help, I had called ahead to the ER DESK, and the lady said she couldn't understand me, yet replied to everything I said, then hung up on me. I called a second time, and then quickly explained I'm injured and driving myself in and can't walk. She asked what I wanted her to do??? I politely asked if she could possibly have a wheelchair maybe waiting by front door, or alert a nurse? She said we don't do that. I needed to cover my wound back up so I just hung up. Got to the ER, and quickly parked, try to get out, but pain was intense and got lightheaded so I just sat against my vehicle. When two people walked by I asked them to get a nurse or doctor or someone please. They ran in and about three minutes later, ran back out and said they don't get anyone from the parking lot and I would have to drive 30 feet to the very front port. I managed to crawl back in vehicle and with the door still open, gunned it in reverse, possibly could have hit people but luckily didn't, threw it into park when I got into the port and laid on the horn. No one. I crawled back out of car then laid on the ground so someone could see me or hear me yelling. A security officer casually strolls out just looking at me as if I am bothering him or am pretending to be injured. The whole time I'm yelling at him to help please and can he get a chair. Finally got close enough to me and I moved my hand, and it looked like he got a little pale in the face, but he finally went and got a wheel chair. He brought me into the ER and he was such a nice guy that he went and parked my car in the same original spot 30 feet away where I was originally laying on the ground and couldn't help me since I was so far away. So even calling ahead, 2 people knowing I was seriously injured and about to pass out, the security guard and front desk lady DID NKT LET ANYONE KNOW, THEN REFUSED TO HELP AFTER TWO PEOPLE SAW ME LAYING BY THE CAR, THEN MADE SOMEONE ABOUT TO PASS OUT AND IN SHOCK GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE RISKING MORE LIVES AND INJURIES. I could not believe this. I hope someone from this hospital sees this and seriously fires, or suspends and retrains the older white security guard and the black front desk lady. The nurses and the doctor who took care of me were very pleasant, helpful, and I have no complaints about them. Except for them forgetting to give me pain medicine. I had asked a few nurses who I never saw again, saying they would get someone. About an hour and some being actually in a room, someone came and gave me some medicine to take the edge of the pain and being in shock most of the time. Sorry for the long review, but one very horrible day, made so much more worse because of a few incompetent or just don't give a fuck employees of this hospital. So much for trying to think ahead and prepare someone for their next patient. I'm glad I didn't die laying against my car in the parking lot going into shock and was able to make it to closer to them so they didn't have to walk too far. read more

Came to this Hospital's Emergency Department at midnight with an issue for which we have a follow up appointment at 9am at the Cleveland Clinic. We were greeted promptly and the situation was treated with compassion and empathy. EVERY STAFF MEMBER we encountered was absolutely wonderful. Very happy with the visit. THANK YOU!! In contrast with the last review, insurance was never checked until after we were in a room and care had began. Irony is that the insurance is Obamacare and is considered Medicaid. Staff treatment of us never changed from before knowing what insurance we had. read more

My fiancé was having weird symptoms. He had a nuclear medicine stress test on Friday at Parma. After a bad couple of days we went to Akron general/Cleveland clinic. He had a cardiac cath and was found to have a critical narrowing of the "widow maker". Then I get a call...3days after the test...that his stress test was abnormal. Turns out the policy is that the nuclear stress test does not have to be read for 3 days. He could have in the meantime died...I raised this issue and got the response..they followed their protocol. I am a physician. My recommendation is...DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU ARE HAVING A CARDIAC PROBLEM. Go to a Cleveland clinic facility instead. read more

I came to the Emergency room and saw the doctor less than 20 mins total time in the 4 hours I was there for severe dehydration. Not only did I have a $1500 ER bill because of copays but now I am being hunted by a collection agency to pay the doctors fee, which is billed separately through a different company for the doctors service fee of $1149.00. Almost $1200 for 20 minutes? Never billed to my insurance. Never sent a bill to my home - just straight to collections (Phoenix) whom was just as unprofessional when trying to explain I wont simply hand over my credit card information when I have no idea there was even a bill from almost a year ago. My insurance company paid over $8000 for that 4 hours PLUS the $2500 + out of pocket. Price gouging at its best. This is why people die instead of seeking help to avoid going bankrupt for a 4 hour visit. read more

Probably most horrible hospital on the planet. If you want to be treated like crap this is the place. Rude so incredibly rude and the nurses could care less. I have been here 11 hours with my daughter and not one single person has offered me anything, asked if I was OK. I am sick with a cold/flu myself and after 8 hours in a chair I laid on the floor. Not one person even asked if I was OK and trust me they saw me laying there. I have had 5 experiences myself with this hospital 1st I had great insurance. My primary Dr wanted me to goto er because he thought I might have had a heart attack. They promptly took me back and ran tests on me. 2nd About 5 years had past. I am now unemployed with 0 money 0 insurance(before obamacare) I went to hospital because I had great pain in both of my shoulders very limited use of arms. I went to er because I had no money. They take me to triage while they are checking my vitals a Dr barges in and asks what the hell I am in er for. I told him I need to find cause of pain. he continues to berate me and then pretends to look me over. His conclusion was I will have great pain in arm all my life(surprise now no pain)He ran me out of triage but before he let me leave I had to register(so they could bill me). 3rd After speaking to a supervisor the next day I went back. so this time they sent a nurse practitioner in to talk to me. Unbelievable. Have never seen a nurse practitioner in a er. 4 and 5th About 6 months later I was admitted to hospital for cellulitis in my leg from ankle to knee my leg was blood red. I was in hospital for 8 days. about 1/2 way thru the stay a nurse came in to give me medication that would have sent me into low blood sugar. I refused said I would take later when I needed it. she was determined to give it to me then I refused. she told me I was trying to be my own dr and walked out. Later after lunch I called to get pill, The nurse refused to give it to me. I had to call nurse supervisor who ordered nurse to give me my medicine. she still did not. called nurse supervisor back and she stayed and watch nurse give me medicine. This medicine lowers blood sugar about 20.. I did not want to take when blood sugar was 88 My guess was that nurse was wrote up or worse from that day on. The nursing supervisor for that floor came in daily and threatened me to leave after 3 days of this I did leave. She threatened to call dog warden on my dog. Dog was home alone even though I had someone coming in after day 3(I put out 5lb bag of dog food and water in every container I had + someone that popped in to check her also) I told dr that was treating me and she told me I needed 2 more days that if I leave I will be back in hospital later. She went onto tell me that the reason they did this was because I was getting free care. She was not being paid either she had no problem with this. She was right though I was back to hospital but this time in Indiana. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences I've had with a hospital. Arrived in the ER Dept. with my husband's arm bleeding from a dog bite. Was told to sit "over there", given a form to fill out, and nobody bothered to look at the injury. Waited an hour to be seen. People were being seen that had flu like symptoms before somebody who was bleeding? Not sure exactly what the protocol is with this hospital as far as taking people back for treatment in the ER. The staff, once we were seen, was great so I'll give them two stars for that. No complaints there. read more

Sitting in Er with my daughter who has diabetes. She is vomiting over and over luckily not busy although you would think they were slammed she immediately gets in a room which apparently means nothing. No call bell in sight. She is vomiting for two hours and nurse doesn't even come in room. Sure has time to chit chat at desk and sit on her butt. Doctor comes in and she sends someone to draw blood and still no medicine what happened to taking care of patients. She is interested only in putting stuff in the computer and having someone else do her work. Terrible customer service and a 0 for taking care of your patient. read more
