I was a bit suspicious because of the name. Federal? I eventually realized that is the name of the…read morestreet they are located on. It was open at the time I was in the area and it did look inviting. I perused the menu and decided to give it a try. Walking in I saw the old-fashioned furnishings, metal chairs, display cases, wall shelves, big bar in the middle all in a long and narrow room. Yessss, this looks lie something out of the 50s and I like it. After a long hard look at the menu I opted for the Salami platter... Strangely enough there wasn't salami, but more like a smoked ham, prosciutto like meat. It tasted great, so what's in a name. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, capers, salami impersonator, cream cheese, capers, pickles and your choice of bread. I had chosen crumpets and regretted that . Not because they weren't delicious, because they were so yummy, but they were also so buttery that I couldn't get the cream cheese to stick and everything I tried to put on the crumpet just slid right off them. I got the bottomless cup of coffee and I must say, this is really good coffee and the refills kept coming also. I love the atmosphere in here and there are so many great choices on the menu. If I ever come back tot Auckland, I will definitely stop by this place again.

Busy place with a lot of indoor seating and limited outdoor tables. Service was good, never had to…read morewait. It's a popular place and they were crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. There was plenty of food for each order. My wife had a street dog and fries and I had a Ruben. They were pretty decent. I wasn't as happy with the fries. They were like the bottom of a pile and mostly little pieces with very few full length slices. Prices were extremely reasonable. I would definitely eat there again.

We have dined at Giusto twice now. The ambiance is very cafe and coffee roasters, but the food and…read moreservice is excellent. The food is unusually fresh tasting and a step above the vast majority of restaurant food. We eat out a lot at great restaurants, but at the moment there's nowhere else with the quality and value anywhere near that at Giusto. There are plenty of vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options while also providing a fabulous 300gm scotch fillet for a mere $30. Most mains are in the $22-$28 range. The menu has options for everyone, and changes a little each time you go so there's always old favourites and interesting new creations. The wine list is not large, but it's perfectly formed and very good value. Try the vegetarian platter as a starter for 4. It's fabulous, even for carnivores. We have tried the vegetarian, chicken, steak and fresh fish mains, and can recommend them all. The waitress we had on both visits was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in that making decisions can be tough with so many good choices. Go there and enjoy.

Giusto prides itself on having no deep fryer and working hard to ensure minimal use of white sugar and processed foods. The reasonably priced eatery offers hearty salads, beautiful fish dishes and wholesome meat and vegetarian dishes. Even the dessert menu has a healthy twist to it, with a modern take on delicious traditional sweets, without the processed rubbish. Vegan dishes and other dietary requirements are taken care of - just ask staff for advice. Diners absolutely love the tempting menu, the bold flavours and the generous portions.
