WORST -REPAIR-EXPERIENCE -EVER Avoid this gyp shop at all costs Took a 2012 BMW X5 in for an oil leak and 3 months & $6200 later it was delivered and would not start. After a new battery from a 3rd party it does not run at all. Terry Parolin does not take or return calls. Jake in service is useless and not willing to engage. Beware of the this shop. I wanted to buy a new volvo and decided to have the local shop purchase it for me and to quote the owner Terry--"we will take care of you." To be fair he gave me a loaner car (2004 volvo with 350,000kms) and we waited weeks and then months for the delivery. He said Volvo didn't care about its customers. I contacted volvo on their Volvo Canada site and got a response saying the order would be delayed for another couple months. We had now waited 5 months on the delivery. I asked that the deal be ended and the owner Terry Parolin said he wanted his car back with a $900 monthly lease of the loaner. He signed the car over to me so that I could insure it. Yes, ownership and all with nothing in writing. After some inquiries by his Jayme we found one in Waterloo. Then I found out they didn't buy the car, I did. The invoice was made out to me. If I had known at the onset I could have gone anywhere to buy this car. He made it sound like he was a Volvo specialty shop when in fact he was really just a garage. A couple of months of ownership and i have a minor problem. He can't help--he is not a dealer. He gladly sold me winter tires. I discussed this dealer with local people and I could not fine one person who thought this dealer was great. One person bought a used car that was in a major accident and bought it believing the dealer it was a low mileage used car. Others complained over billing and an indifferent attitude. The clincher for me came when he wouldn't even acknowledge me in another setting. This place is to be avoided at all costs. When the owner pisses you off the entire staff are all his relatives and they make you feel really unwelcomed. Take your Volvo to anywhere else. I now drive to Newmarket and when I walk in I feel like I am welcomed. PS: I am man of my word and he got his loaner back when legally it was mine. I have never felt so violated by an auto repair shop as I have with Parolin's in North Bay. I took my car to them at the beginning of August for a violent shudder on acceleration (between 1600-2000rpm), and for my A/C not working. I have an aftermarket warranty and provided them with all the warranty info. I made it extremely clear that they were to do warranty approved work only. After almost 2 weeks, I'm told my car is ready. I arrive to have them tell me they couldn't find the leak in the A/C, so they put a stop leak in, and recharged the freon (none of this covered under warranty, and no guarantee that the leak was fixed). As for the vibration, they replaced the L/F CV axle and told me the problem was fixed. So, over and above my warranty deductible, I'm paying over $200 extra. I drive off the lot and by the time I get home I feel the same vibration. I contact Parolin's and they tell me to bring it back. After several more days in the shop, they tell me that I need a software upgrade on various modules in the car (not covered by warranty - $470+ tax). My car ends up parked as I leave town on a work tasking. Once I return, I take it back to them as I've already paid the warranty deductible with them. I take a tech for a test drive to make sure he understands the issue. I research possible causes and send many web links to Parolin's with potential causes. Again, I stress "Warranty covered repair only". They end up contacting me and telling me the L/F CV Axle (yes, same one they just replaced) is shredded on the splines that engage in the differential, and that they are replacing the CV axle. I ask them to not just slam in another axle without finding the cause. Again, I stress warranty. The young man at the counter (Brodie), tells me that I already owe 3 hours labor for diagnosing. I bring up warranty and he says he'll talk to the owner (Terry). Today I get the invoice for the axle, 4.5 hours labor, 6 spark plugs @ $30ea, etc. at no point was I asked about the spark plugs, I was just given a massive bill. I go down to Parolin's and try to talk to Terry. He basically tells me pay or I'm not getting my car back, and if I don't like it, then go to court. So, this shop, and particularly the owner doesn't care about return business, doesn't care about his customers, doesn't care about reputation. They were told not to exceed warranty approved work, but stuck me with a bill I can barely afford just before xmas, and held my car hostage for payment. If anyone ever considers taking a vehicle to Parolin's in North Bay, don't! If you ever hear of anyone taking theirs there, advise them against it. They are not reputable, and they will screw you over. Merry F'n Xmas... Overall bad experience. Bad customer service. They broke a part while replacing another one and didn't tell me. I had to come back with the check engine on, worst condition than when it came in. They just didn't give a **** because they knew I was just driving through. Go spend your money at someone who deserves it. read more
