I mean I had chicken sharwarma where it would really stand out. Not much strong flavor in it. I do like the fact that they are generous in sauce. I mean I am a sauce person. The portion size is smaller compared to their competitor for the price paying. Also the chicken sharwarma is very messy to eat. It drips from either end. What's really disgusting is the hair found in my colleagues chicken sharwarma. That was nasty. Well its good that they replaced his half chicken sharwarma and she did try to explain and did apologized. We came in at noon and left at 12:30. Inside the whole restaurant there was only us and another table. I don't know how they can stay in business longer if they are getting this kind of business everyday. That said, the young woman who greeted and served us was fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the meal. I ordered the pancakes with eggs. The pancakes were far too doughy and oddly topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and bananas -- a presentation that felt more suited to a child's menu than an adult breakfast order. Want to put a cute topping on my cakes - you should ask me. They were also overcooked, as was the over-hard egg. At one point I even joked to my girlfriend that it felt like there must be a college kid running the kitchen. The service saved the experience, but the food definitely needs improvement.

Plaka also makes the best spanakopita and tiropita that I've ever tasted -- the Feta is imported from Greece, so it has a distinct taste/texture that differs from the briny North American Feta. As someone with Celiac disease, eating out is often more stress than it's worth, not at Spiro's. I traveled from Houston to Calgary several times, and Spiro's is my must have for safe, gluten-free pizza. Every time I've eaten here, the staff has shown a deep understanding of Celiac disease not just gluten intolerance, but the actual medical condition Celiac and the seriousness of cross-contact that celiacs face when eating away from home. That care is rare and so appreciated when you find a place like this. On my most recent trip, I was staying at a hotel on the opposite side of town and considering delivery via DoorDash. Truth be told, I was nervous as this was the first time I had ever ordered deliver, always in person to gauge safety. It's hard enough trusting the process in person...I was super worried something was going to get lost in translation with ordering via an app. So, I called ahead first and spoke with the owner's daughter, and she did her best to reassure me that everything would be handled with the same level of care as when I am there in person. She even told me to leave a note in the DoorDash "special instructions" and she'd take it from there. The DoorDash driver was great: friendly, communicative, and fast, the pizza was steaming hot. When he handed me the box, all my anxiety gone. On the box was a big red "Gluten Free" sticker sealing the box, and the receipt was marked up with "Celiac," "Gluten Free," and "Be Safe." They were spot freaking on! the pizza was as always just amazing, really, you wouldn't know it's gluten free I have tested it several times because it it just that good it's hard to believe it's not cardboard. So I guess it qualifies as fast food, but you have to wait a bit longer and you will notice a higher quality to what you're getting. I had a beef pita wrap and fries, my companion had a chicken wrap and Greek salad. The food was excellent. Beef was well cooked, tender and tasty. The fries had a unique blend of seasoning (at least, unique to me) and was not overdone. Naturally there was a strong garlic flavour to everything. I could not think of any way to improve the quality of the food which tasted good and was well presented. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with colour photos of Greece (I presume the owner's collection) and some homey nicknacks on shelves, tastefully arranged. And some Greek posters and a road sign or two. Prices were fine. I forget how much a bottle of pop retails for these days, but subtracting that gets you a decent meal for a reasonable price - $15 for good sized wrap, fresh thick pita and toppings, with a side. My companion couldn't finish the salad and took some home. We both left full and happy. I rarely give five stars, but if I can't think of any way to have improved the experience, I have no choice.
