Large, green, and filled with trees, this park is full of people participating in a variety of…read moreactivities. There's even a big dog park for pet owners! Throughout the park there are tracks and walkways and there's a nice lake in the center. The only downside, and this is a major disappointment, is that there might be looters and criminals after sunset, so pay attention to your surroundings! Our stroll through the park got us hungry, so we decided to find a nearby restaurant. We stumbled upon this place with nice open seating, so we decided to stay for lunch. It's actually within the park on the southwest corner, but I couldn't find it on Yelp. Jardim Churrascada is the name of the restaurant, and it was my first time trying Brazilian biro-biro rice - their version of fried rice - and it was delicious! It pairs well with any type of meat. With the perfect weather, we had a really lovely brunch. São Paulo is a nice city and has so much potential to become one of the world's top megacities if only the government were less corrupt and were more proactive in developing and fine tuning the city's infrastructures.

Step into this park and it's like going back in time. The native trees are absolutely gorgeous and so calming. To me, spending time here is better than a trip to the spa! I used to come here almost every day when I lived in Jardins. I miss it! Of course, amidst the tranquil beauty, there are often musicians, speakers, rallies, and all kinds of other exciting events. There is also a cute dog park nextdoor (the best time to go is around 5:00 p.m. for "doggy happy hour") and a small arts fair on weekends right by the main entrance to the park.

Tucked within the gorgeous…read moreresidential community, you'll find a great space to lay out a blanket, stroll with your dog, and play with your kid. The kid's area is pretty large and it's fenced in. Weekends are always busy and so are the after school hours on weekdays. As for the dogs, there's no fenced-in area, but owners of those with well-behaved pups allow them to run off-lease. On certain days, you'll also find a man selling ice cream. This area is great for a walk, and well removed from the city noise.

This park is a great alternative to Ibirapuera if you are looking for a place to run and workout…read morewith a little less of a crowd. It's not nearly as large, but it's very well kept with lovely landscaping and well thought out areas for play, congregating and training. There are futbal courts, a bike path that connects to the river trail (the gate is sometimes closed and you have to go under the bridge at the back of the park, not super well marked), jungle gyms, tons of workout equipment, picnic areas, two huge restrooms, a free no card library, art installations, lots of open space, and a wide variety of plants and vegetation. On a weekday morning, the running path is full of locals fitting in their daily jog or taking their pups out for a walk - also notice some of the maids in uniform walking dogs to get a sense of the irony of where "people's park" has been placed. I found an old map that showed that a favela once stood where the multi-billion dollar mall across the street now does! Many commuters cross through the park from the train station to get to work often cutting across the giant grass fields to get there on time. In the afternoons it's fairly quiet with a few moms and nannies, sometimes nearby workers picnic and often it gets super hot as there is not tons of shade. You may get a few stinky whiffs from the nearby giant sewer aka Pinheiros River but they generally pass by quickly. Sometimes office workers take out the Itau or Bradesco city bikes to take a trip around the park for inspiration and exercise - always fun to see them sweat in uniform. At night the place lights up with crazy workouts. Not just runners but now groups with personal trainers who set up obstacle courses and bring boxing equipment stake out their patch on the big lawns. It's got a great buzz and stays open till 10pm with nice lighting and serious security circling about the grounds. This is one of my favorite spots to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city (even though it's bordered on one side by a highway) and just enjoy laying on the grass. Just don't ruin it by sharing the secret with too many people or it will get over crowded like so many other parks in the city.

For one, the Tryp hotel is dog…read morefriendly and just around the corner, you'll find Parque Buenos Aires, one of the few parks in the city that has a fenced-in dog area where your pup can frolic and socialize with other canines. The larger park is really lovely and while it's not massive, it's big enough to offer a needed respite from the city hustle. While not big enough to dedicate an entire jog (contrary to Ibirapuera park), it's great for an afternoon stroll and during opening hours, you'll find lovers cuddling on park benches, loners on the grass with a book, and kids on their daytime outing. As for the dog park, it's a decent size and while there's plenty of room to run, you won't find any grass here. It's mostly a packed dirt surface, so on rainy days, this might not be the best "clean" play option. Then again, there's almost always dogs there so it's nice for a quick powwow amongst pups.

There are…read moreseveral restaurants, grocery stores, and street food options nearby, so grab a snack (or maybe a cold coconut water from the vendor that's usually near the entrance to the park, by the bus stop) and sit down to relax amongst the hustle and bustle of São Paulo. A beautiful green space inside the city, with a children's play area and a dog run! There are many interesting sculptures within the park that are worth checking out as well. It's a small park but still a very relaxing place. Park staff does a great job of keeping it clean, so be sure to help them out by placing any of your trash in the receptacles, which are conveniently located.

Paulista Avenue is the main avenue in all of Sao Paulo. However, I would not really compare to the…read moreChicago's Michigan Avenue or New York's Fifth Avenue. This avenue has more in common with Wall Street. It is mostly made of office buildings of financial and political orgnaizations. There is some shopping to be found here, but this is a place where you'll mainly see locals in business attire. It is still an impressive looking street with all of the skyscrapers that line it. And one place that really stands out architecturally and is worth a visit is the Sao Paulo Museum of Art. It is only 1.7 miles and I found it plesant to walk to the whole length to experience the sights and sounds of this huge city.

This park provides a little island of shared community space in the midst of the castle style walls…read moreof Jardins mansions. The benches and trees interwoven by a little path are quite sweet and enjoyable for taking a break on a stroll or a run through the neighborhood. The rest of the park elements feel rather random - a giant statue in homage to the park's namesake, a set of rusted rings and bars for adults to hang from and a tiny play structure for kids. All are nice but in the small space of the park each feels incomplete. Unfortunately (and quite oddly given the amount of security patrolling the neighborhood) I've seen vagrants camped out there various times. There are parking spaces surrounding the park, but I've never seen them too empty. On weekends the nearby church is packed with weddings and Services, so parking in the area can be quite tough. Not a destination in and of itself but not a bad spot to checkout if you're nearby.
