They've split their services into 2 sites; the one on Barrett Street focuses more on costume rentals. My visit wasn't for a costume but more for make-up and accessories for a costume, but let me tell you, the costume selection for purchase here is outstanding, taking up a large portion of this larger-than-before site. My purpose here was to seek make-up and accessories, of which they again have a giant inventory. I received great service here. I told them exactly what I was seeking, and within minutes I was given demonstrations and samples of exactly what I wanted - super easy, super fun. When you come here, read all the signs on the doors to find the entrance, as a lot of the doors are locked. The entrance you want is "upstairs" in the back, against the parking lot, the rightmost of all available doors. I was very glad to have re-discovered this store!

It's always kind of expensive and I tend to want homemade costumes. However, for decor and inspiration, Spirit is the place to go. This is a pop-up seasonal shop that comes around for Halloween. I think some locations stay around for more than just Halloween but I'm unsure for this location. They sell much more than just costumes. They even have a little haunted walk thru set up inside and interactive scary figurines. The monster dog that jumps out of his doghouse really startled me. They have costumes for adults, kids and babies. They have a whole section on Ouija board themed stuff that includes a Ouija rubber spatula, floor mat, kitchen towel or beer opener. They have a 20% off one item coupon online. They sell slutty costumes, couple's costumes, TV show products, weed-related costumes as well as more PG costumes.

After a rough start picking up an order for dance class supplies for my daughter, I realized I did…read morenot know the order number or whether or not it was an in person or internet order. I should have had that information. The Costumer is a large operation with three locations in Schenectady. It rents and sells hundreds of costumes and assessories. A call to my daughter resolved those issues. Within 15-20 minutes of my arrival, the order was located and delivered to my car by a staff member. Service was Five Stars I talked to four different staff, and each one was courteous and calm in spite of my impatience during the initial part of my visit. I was a little out of line, but I am going to attribute it to a senior episode. A nice email explaining the delay in locating the order was sent to my daughter by the manager on the same day as my pickup. AND it included a 15% off coupon on her next purchase! I worked in this store for the entire season, and I can tell you that the district manager makes it a joke that there is no training, you're supposed to learn as you go and if you don't know all the policies and procedures, you get toxic remarks said about you behind your back. Weird practices like flirting with customers to get them to donate to Spirit of Children. They don't really care about the children's hospital, they push it hard because it's for the company. If it were a Legit donation, we wouldn't get so pushed for Spirit donations, it would just be an optional side thing. But since it DOES go to the company, they push it as much as they can because they don't want to lose money. Having other people donate gives them a tax write-off. Having over 1 million dollars in donations each year allows them to claim more allowances and pay less in taxes, practically paying nothing in terms of taxes on merch sold. It's a common corporate scheme. I suggest you donate your money DIRECTLY to a donation of your choosing. Every product from shirts, to costumes, to accessories, to props, are all cheaper than cheap quality yet egregiously overpriced. 3 small items often ring you up to 50 dollars. Complaints of people trying to return or exchange their costumes that ripped or broke in half because the quality is shit, but we are forced to tell them there's nothing we can do about it like 3 weeks before Halloween. Awful stores, awful staff, awful quality, awful pricing.
