This was my first visit to The Costumer in 6 years, and also my first visit to their new location…read morein Schenectady, at which they've been for about 3 years. They've split their services into 2 sites; the one on Barrett Street focuses more on costume rentals. My visit wasn't for a costume but more for make-up and accessories for a costume, but let me tell you, the costume selection for purchase here is outstanding, taking up a large portion of this larger-than-before site. My purpose here was to seek make-up and accessories, of which they again have a giant inventory. I received great service here. I told them exactly what I was seeking, and within minutes I was given demonstrations and samples of exactly what I wanted - super easy, super fun. When you come here, read all the signs on the doors to find the entrance, as a lot of the doors are locked. The entrance you want is "upstairs" in the back, against the parking lot, the rightmost of all available doors. I was very glad to have re-discovered this store!

If your family takes its eating as seriously as the rest of America, then what makes you think you can just skimp on the fun decor? It's okay to be a little extra when it comes to Thanksgiving decorations, arguably the most underrepresented holiday in the decor game, and thanks to Party City, you can let your freak flag fly high and gobble til you wobble this year! Want to stick your face through a large foam piece of pumpkin pie and wear it like a hat/mask? Done. Don't have much of a sweet tooth? Wear a foam turkey hat instead. Afraid of hat head? Throw on a pair of turkey shades and sit next grandpa - you might have to give him a nudge to wake him out of his turkey coma, but that's showbiz, baby. The possibilities are endless at Party City, so don't @ me -- there's something for everyone. In all seriousness, if Party City can pack three large display racks to the gills with a variety of fun and festive Thanksgiving party supplies, mix 'n match paper goods, photo booth props, turkey dinner to go bags, turkey lanterns, garland, dish towels, and DIY pilgrim hats for the kiddos, in addition to the countless other aisles chock full of party supplies, then it's my firm belief they can make any holiday a little extra. Party City is what it would be like if Charming Charlie's (the accessories store, RIP) got in the party biz: everything is organized by color, and probably made in China. Can I mention their balloon game is poppin'! I ordered a few basic balloon "arrangements" for an event I threw recently, and not only did they blow them up with some of that premium grade A, hard to find helium, but they also attached strings, anchored them to cute little balloon weights I purchased, and perfectly sized/spaced them out, achieving that height/aspect ratio only realized by a true balloon master. Just another reminder that there's genius walking among us, and not all heroes wear capes. In closing, I walked in just wanting to place the balloon order, half expecting this place to be a glorified dollar store, with aisles looking more like the morning after a wild rave than those belonging to a neat and tidy, "we have everything," party supply store, but boy was I wrong! I was blown away by all the goodies packed inside this party in a vanilla box, ranging from the in your face Thanksgiving display (it saw me coming from the parking lot, I never stood a chance against that beast) to the super helpful staff (shout out to Rosey and Malika for modeling some photo booth props, and just being generally awesome people/Party City employees). I can't speak for all Party Cities, but this location was a slam dunk, and I 100% would return to this particular location to see what my homegirls, Rosey and Malika, have in store for the Christmas schwag, and to see what seasonal flare I can add to an event or dining room near you!

Very very few vintage pieces (maybe two 70s dresses and a few 80s prom dresses) and lots of unauthentic purses and pieces of jewelry (with a few exceptions, to be fair). Most of the store is dedicated to Halloween costumes. Overall, an inauthentic vintage store. They should really get rid of the cheap Halloween costumes and get more vintage clothes.

It wasn't until I filed a claim with PayPal that she responded to my numerous messages. She promised that the dress would be made and sent post haste. I got the shipping confirmation a little over a week later. That was a month ago. I tried for about a week to get in touch with her, as my dress hadn't made an appearance yet, and it took the threat of me reporting her to Etsy for her to come up with some sob story while promising me a refund and a quick, free shipment of my dress. WAIT, WHAT? She hadn't even shipped my dress yet! When I asked her why she sent me a shipping confirmation without shipping the dress, she stopped responding. I haven't heard from her since. I finally reported her to Etsy, but I probably won't get a refund since she conned me into cancelling my claim. What a terrible thieving goblin of a woman. I hope her business fails.

Bryan and I went last eve to rent our costumes for the YELP Prohibition party. It's a small store…read moretucked in an alley- with what seems like thousands of costumes. One on one service to help us. A dressing room to try things on. And lots of accessories added in. We were in and out in less than half an hour with everything we needed. We are ready to party! And I know where to go when the next costume activity arises. Just know- it's cash only for rentals so bring money not plastic.

I was running late but the woman I spoke with stayed on until I got there. The costume she "put together" was fabulous--a real cotton/velvet blue jacket with a gold collar, a throat ruffle, and a hat with a white feather. It was perfect, of high quality (though used, as this is typically a rental shop), and charged me $25. I couldn't believe it and my son was elated.

An internet search on Halloween supplies in Kingston is more likely to show you numerous references to the seasonal store in the Hudson Valley Mall. Don't believe it. Go here first. The first floor has the majority of the party (including Halloween) supplies, cosmetics, and make-up ranging from inexpensive stuff for the kids' costumes to professional grade theater make-up. Upstairs is awesome! They have costumes of all kinds including costumes for kids, adults, inexpensive, higher-quality, rentals, etc. Side rooms and shelves include all kinds of props and accessories, hats, plastic weapons, etc. They have several dressing rooms too. I've also never seen such an incredible assortment of Mardi Gras style masks. If you're going there for Halloween supplies, my recommendation would be to go the 2nd week of October. By then they are fully up to stock for Halloween, and the inventory will still be quite full and not yet so heavily picked-over.
