Like many others, I did not have a good experience on a recent trip to this Party City location. I wanted to go get a balloon for a birthday, and there were a couple of folks in front of me in line. There was one cashier, there was one person filling balloons, and a manager of some kind who didn't seem to be much help to either one of them. This person was clearly overwhelmed by the fact that several folks wanted balloons filled at 4p on a Friday night. The cashier was having some issue with the first person's transaction, but the manager was no help. I waited in line almost 20 minutes before someone behind me in line asked the manager "How long would it take to get my balloons filled once I pay?" The manager's reaction was super rude and she said to no one in particular "We aren't filling more balloons tonight." The person asked if they could buy them and pick them up in the morning and the manager just walked away. I was next in line by this point, so I waited. When it was my turn, I asked the cashier if I could pick up my balloons in the morning, and he said he didn't know. So I left my items with him, and left. I went just down the road to Hy-Vee where the selection wasn't as good, but the service was way better. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

After waiting 4 days for a costume from Amazon and still no word, I decided I'd better try to find it elsewhere. I googled it and it was a hot seller and out of stock. I found it online with a 20% off coupon and the option to pick it up. I am thrilled that I found it at Party City and they had it ready so quickly. read more

The service is so bad they are really bad at communicating. The workers there are so rude and disrespectful, and the workers don't help you with directions for lines. They have so many lines and not one sign that explains what lines are for paying and pre orders. They have a messy selection of different themes from party supply's. Two of the same balloons costed different prices, balloons on the ground, in a random place, and so messy. Only 4 people working the cashiers, and they just need more people on shift, also they don't restock their balloons so much stuff missing/ out of stock. They have so many pre-inflated balloons that aren't for sale. It's so crowded and expensive I am definitely never coming back. read more

Should've checked the reviews first but honestly, was just going to pick up a couple of things and get a single balloon blown up. Unfortunately, the manager, Linda, is completely incompetent in relation to customer service. As I was paying, I was told I'd have to wait thirty minutes for a balloon to be blown up as there were orders ahead of me. Mind you, there was one employee blowing up a balloon and at least two other employees - including the manager - doing various things around the check out area. And at least three helium tanks ready and not in use. The two other customers were elsewhere, shopping in the store. I couldn't wait thirty minutes but asked for an alternative solution - perhaps another inflated birthday balloon, which were all around the store? Nope, I could wait thirty minutes or go ask the other customers if "I could cut in front of them." I was very willing to be offered alternative options but apparently Linda is either so oppressed by her company that she is not allowed to problem solve on behalf of the customer or she lacks the proper management skills to be sitting in that position. Super irritating to have that kind of experience, especially at a place called "Party City." Btw, we left and went to the Dollar Store which was obviously cheaper and had much better customer service! read more

Ordered balloons for a graduation party a month before I needed them, was offered an additional service for the balloons to keep them up longer since the ordered I was told was being done the night before and this added inflation would help out, accepted the extra cost since I didn't want the balloons to deflate during the party. Went to pick up the order on the time requested and found out the order hadn't even been started!! It was crazy busy and was told our order would be done in a couple of hours because it was a busy day!!! Yes, that is why we ordered our balloons a month before we needed them! And to rearrange our entire day so someone could go back and pick up all the balloons, and what about the extra money I paid to keep them inflated?? Was told I would get a refund, then I was told the refund had been processed, then I was told not sure about a refund, then I was told they would investigate at call back, all this over a month of waiting, then told the manager who I was dealing with was fired. Finally told nothing had been done and I had to come in for a refund, went in and didn't get a complete refund only partial refund and the manager who was supposed to have been fired was there working!! No apology from her for the many lies she told she just walked off and I had to deal with another manager!!! Never ever order from this store they will totally screw up your order and party!!!! read more

I ordered a costume for pick up and was told it was out of stock however I didn't need to do anything and the money would be refunded to my payment method since it wouldn't be "picked up". Luckily I checked and had used PayPal and saw it was never refunded ...I even waited over 2 weeks . Clearly the associate isn't familiar with how refunds and out of stock works . read more

I was very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I was greeted with "Let's Party!" when I walked in. Then a staffer offered to help me find what I was looking for. I got the same treatment when I returned a few days later for more plates and table covering. On my second trip, a staffer was having problems carrying a balloon bouquet out to deliver it. I offered to hold the door for him. Even though he was obviously having a bad day, he thanked me and we had a good laugh over the challenges of balloon wrangling. I will definitely be returning next time I need part supplies. read more

There's gotta be a better system for getting small balloon orders? I needed 3 latex balloons and stood in line for 35 minutes while customers ahead of me kept leaving. When I got to the front they told me it would be 45 minute wait to fill them. I politely said I would pass and the woman was quite rude and obviously stressed. Very unprofessional staff. Went to pick up balloons for a customer and was kept waiting for 20 or so minutes. When I finally asked what was happening, I was told that I should have gone to the pick up area. There is no sign that says "Pick up". How was I supposed to know where the "pick up" area was? Seems like a trend with the location. Bought balloons for my 2 year A week ago and I was told I could bring them in anything before her party and they will blow then up for free. So I did on her party day and when I went in, they said there was a wait time of 1 hour.. I didn't have an hour as the party was in an hour. The women couldn't take 2 mins to blow two baby shark balloons for a two year old. She was rude and didn't give two shits about it. Horrible service, will definitely not go back! read more

Terrible customer service. Scheduled a balloon pickup a week in advance for a 10:00 pickup. Wasn't ready upon arrival. Employees instead were just complaining to each other about how many orders they were backed up and running around frantically. It shouldn't be that difficult. read more

We flew in from Miami today And went to Party City to pick up balloons for my Mother-in-laws 75th Birthday and the staff would not fill up 2 balloons for us! The manager was very rude and said NO and told us there was a 3hr wait. The grab and go section had almost no balloons and there were 5-6 employees behind the counter filling balloons. Not 1 would help us. We went to Paper Source to get the balloons and we will never go to Party City again. So rude. So non-understanding! read more

The Paci Fairy hath descended upon our home.... After nearly 4 years, I had finally had enough of my daughter dragging her 11 pacis around (yes, 11). And the bad thing was, we couldn't buy them anywhere except Australia or England. Rippa! So the Paci Fairy stepped in to save the day! I went to Party City and was able to pick up a really cute themed bucket and fill it to the brim with all kinds of little goodies that any kid would go crazy over. Tattoos, stickers, bubbles, candy, tiny notebooks, squinkies, chocolate coins, compressed washcloths - you name it, they had it! I also bought a big pack of Minnie Mouse balloons to tie to the bucket (inflation was included in the price). So I was happy. All the items ended up being about $40. At the counter, which was not very busy, the girl split my first balloon open. This was the last package of these particular design in the store, mind you. She asked if she could sub a different colored star and I said of course. She continued to inflate the rest of the balloons and when it came to the main one which is quite large, I thought it didn't look *that* full but it was a little cool that day so I thought maybe it was that. Also I'm not a balloon inflation and connoisseur, so who am I to judge? At any rate, I completed my purchase and got out of there. The store was very clean. Workers are nice enough, but a little awkward. I think prices are great. By the time I got to my house - which is less than 5 minutes away - the large balloon that looked weird in the store was definitely much lower than the others. It was squishy while the others were fully inflated. I was surprising my daughter with them because we had taken all of her pacifiers so I couldn't drive back and exchange. Besides that, I had bought the last one...there was nothing to exchange it with. The Paci Fairy knocked on the front door and my daughter opened it and squealed with excitement. Forgetting all of her sadness over losing her pacifiers. The properly inflated balloons lasted well over a month. The other one barely lasted the day, which was unfortunate because it was the main one and her favorite. A little quality control would have gone a long way in this instance. We'll be back but I'll be checking our balloons a lot more thoroughly next time! read more

Although on my second visit the staff were friendly... it was disappointing to find that they are regularly out of helium but the grocery store down the street is able to accommodate. I think the discount for balloons should be greater when there is no helium. But he store does have just about anything you need for a party/event. read more

Not friendly and the wait in line to pay has taken up to 15 minutes at times. Not cool!!! Very rude employees. Advertised balloon bouquet for $22.00- it all rang up for greater than $36! When I pointed out it rang for $10 over the advertised price. The employee removed the tag, told me it was a mistake and I should pick out another bouquet. Similar bouquets were listed $22-$24. False advertising and indifferent/rude team members. read more

I agreed with the others that they have great supplies and are huge, but they need help in the service department. I called on my way there to ask if they were on the North or South side of 135th so I knew which lane to be in when I got closer. The kid said, "Umm, I don't know." I then asked what are you next to. The kid replied, "We are in front of Sam's Club." I said okay then you are on the North side of 135th in case any else ever asks you. I get there and he is the only person I see working and he has 4 people in line trying to check out. I can't find anyone to help me find what I need, but I stumble upon it and go to check out. I am now the 3rd person in line and 2 more line up behind me. At this point the kid realizes he needs to call for back-up. He pages someone else to come to her register and splits the line so we can all check out faster. Maybe they just need better training or more staff. I will go back because it is one of the few party places in town, but I may hit Wal-mart first to see if they have what I need they would be cheaper by far. read more

This location has the RUDEST most incompetent people working. Bought online for store pickup and they did NOT have my item that was PAID for. They made me wait forever for a female manager, who was unapologetic about my wait and item missing! Decided to give them another try and was NOT told about their return policy on a defective item that was supposed to be for an adult, but was clearly for a child. Will NEVER go back here again. This store was disheveled, disorganized and filthy. We found a theme we liked - but not much variety. Luckily we looked down another aisle and found more items that matched the theme. However none of those items were priced. Ugh. Variety was so/so. I give 3 stars (instead of one) because I called in advance and the employee who answered was super bubbly and friendly.
