Elva and her helpers were at my 7-year-old sons birthday party this weekend. Both herself and her team were friendly and professional. All the kids loved their face paintings and the children had fun with their sword, flower, dog, and other balloons. It's not easy to find good face painters these days. You have a bunch of people who took it up on the side and the end result is obviously amateur. Then you have Elva and her trainees. They are total pros. They do incredibly detailed work, on squirmy kids, with a positive and nice attitude the entire time. We've used Elva twice now- and both times- the parents at our parties have all gone on and on about just how fantastic she is. I especially appreciated this past party when it seemed everyone went straight to her- how she took control of the crowd and got through everyone without a problem. Oh, man! Elva saved me. It was a rainy day, and my plans for a bounce house to entertain the kids for my husband's 40th birthday was obviously not going to happen. Thank goodness for the rain--California needs it. But, hats off to Elva for being available and responding ever so quickly to my inquiry and follow-up questions. We were able to get things arranged within two days. She and her two balloon twisters showed up to the party and kept the kids enthralled. We're talking 2-year-old toddlers. I've never seen kids sit so still to get painted. Elva is so talented and has a way with young ones. The balloon twisters were so awesome. My son kept getting into their bag and re-sorting their colored balloons (i.e., making a mess of their orderliness). She kept saying that he was fine and that she had her own 5-year-old son, so she understood. Then he crumbled a cookie into the pockets of that balloon bag. She just smiled and said that he was fine. We got Elmos, fishing poles with dangling fish, monkeys climbing up palm trees, swords, and an assortment of other balloons. I want to find another excuse to hire her! read more

Do NOT hire her! She is NOT WORTH it!! I attended a birthday party on 5/5/13 and oh my gosh, I've never seen any unprofessional face painter ever in my life! Not just that but she is not kid-friendly at all! She has a very mean tone when my son told me to make sure I kept the page that has the image he wanted. I thought for a professional, specially a simple image, she should know how to do one if he just told her, like a football or baseball, so I told him not to worry she knew how to do that, but she quickly answer with a very mean tone, no, she needed the image in order to paint it. She has no smile on her face for the whole time, it's like she was forced to be there and worked for FREE. I couldn't believe that the host has to pay her $130 for such a terrible service. All the kids were so afraid of her, she yelled at the kids for a simple touching or leaning on her cardboard display. Besides, I don't know what kind of paint she used but I had a hard time washing them off my son's faces. I even used my make-up remover lotion and it didn't work. He has paint stain on his face as of this morning... Well, I'm sure there are more face painting professionals out there so you don't have to waste your money with this one. Unless you're very desperate!! or want to go with a cheaper one. read more

We used Elva's face painting service at our company picnic two weeks ago and she was everything awesome as said by other Yelpers. Elva was punctual, pricing was competitve, and was nice to everyone. I thought the pictures on Yelp were impressive, but Elva's work of art is beyond that if you get to see it live. I just had Elva come over this morning for my daughters 6th bday party in Saratoga in a beautiful park and she was fabulous! She came early, set up her table and patiently started the face painting and balloon twisting activities for all the kids. My son has special needs and I wasn't sure he would be able to sit through the face and arm painting--well Elva worked her magic and he sat through the entire session patiently as she calmly reassured him and painted a beautiful image on his arm.
