Scary masks, ugly warts, balloons, limo hire...you name it - they've got it!
When I did Performing Arts at college I didn't need an excuse to dress up but now I've grown up the opportunities are few and far between. Therefore my husband saying yes to us having a Halloween fancy dress party last year gave me the chance to really go OVER THE TOP!
Within a couple of days I had started making my Morticia Addams dress and plans for the party were underway.
I arrived at Party Zone with a grin on my face like a cheshire cat. I couldn't wait to start buying decorations to see what I could put together. I got some gruesome masks, a really kool blood-dripping wallpaper for my cordoned off bathroom murder scene and a bag of plastic insects to give the effect of an infestation bursting out of the closet.
The lady behind the counter had started chatting to me as soon as I entered. She seemed genuinely interested in my party plans and gave me a few ideas to elevate the horror. She asked about my outfit and after showing her a picture of it on my phone and explaining what I was doing with it next she paused...and then as if by magic (or witchcraft) she pulled out the perfect wig. I left with half the shop's stock in my boot and a grin on my face even bigger than before. I knew I was looking forward to creating the party as much as I would be attending it.
It took me a week to decorate the house (around a full time job) and the whole house looked frightful and bloody. My chilling yet kool theme really worked. It was only when I took a step back to take some photos that I realised how much I had taken away with me from the lady and the Party Zone shop. A huge thank-you!
The party went off with a scream............. read more
