Not usually my meal but I decided to try a British meal - signature mixed grill with chicken breast, pork sausage, black pudding, gammon steak (ham), and steak. Not leaving the fried egg out. Very interesting plate. Wish I had more vegetables but this is a good plate. Chicken and the sausage were my favorite on the plate. Went in 21st December to pay the remaining and use my friends and family dis count of 15% as I was told you need to consume the food before they can discount it. So we added everything up and I added a drinks order aswell so i knew how much to take with me on the day. My self and family got there and got a shirty waitress who said there is no booking. She went over to the manger then rushed a table with out festive setting. Bare in mind the whole pub tables had festive napkins ,crackers and candles. 2 different table put together and one was shorter. Looked terrible . Waited half hour to be told the manager had forgotten our drinks order. Exhausted at this time. I let my daughter take over talking and ordering as I was near yo tears . I then got up to go to the toilet and had an ipad put in my face by the manager to say it stated we canceled went backwards and forwards with the manager like at a Christmas panto! Like I didn't cancle oh yes you did. The manager went to the till I went to my daughter to ask if we had an email and she said no. I went back to the till and saw canceled by host in red letters and a white line through it. I said you canceled it. Food was below average as my prawn cocktail was swimming in water. I showed the waitress after she ( never was given her name to me) had said everything OK for you ? I showed her and all she said was " the water must be from the lettuce and walked off. The Oxford location of Comptoir Libonais sits on the outside edge of a big Westfield Mall and though the decor immediately identifies it, there was something very tired about it. It felt less special and was less pristine than it should have been. Tables were left uncleared for far too long after guests left. My wine glass arrived dirty, with a very small pour (replaced with a large pour, as ordered, and a clean glass when I pointed it out). It took far too long for anyone to come to my table. Despite good food the collection of missteps left a negative impression, like nobody who cares is actually watching over this outpost. This would easily be a 4-star review were it based on food alone but there is no escaping that it is the collection of a dining experience that influences one's overall feelings about a place. The main was lovely. It was cute little "bags of pasta" floating in a light veggie broth with peas and asparagus. The inside of the pasta was a delicious pear mash which went great with the veggies.
