If the name sounds slightly strange or exotic, chances are it's an Indian or Chinese restaurant and, in this case, it's an Indian restaurant that is just one of a few in Ormskirk that offers the locals a flavour of Indian cuisine on their doorstop (though not quite literally, of course). Their menu features all the usual suspects that you'd expect to find in an Indian restaurant - korma, jalfrezi, masala, vindaloo - plus a few house and chef specials that are always worth a try if you're feeling lucky (or you're not thinking about how it will affect you tomorrow morning). The restaurant itself is comfortable enough and the waiters are friendly and attentive, without making you feel like they're watching your every move.

There must be no more than 15 tables in the entire place, which makes it nice and cosy - which I like. I have been here countless times, and each time I cannot fault the service. The waiters are friendly, and the same guys have worked there for years, so if you're local and go there frequently they remember your name - which is always nice. The food is authentic Indian food, with a varied choice of curries on the menu. One of their starters - Prawn on Puree - is my favourite and I often order this as larger portion for my main meal, which they are always more than happy to do for me. The prices are very reasonable here, and if you like them on Facebook they'll often post print-off vouchers on their page for customer discounts and freebies. They also run deals on certain nights, where you can get 3 courses and a beer for £15. Last week when I visited, the service was abnormally slow.. And something I haven't experienced before. Granted it was a busy Friday night but maybe they were a waiter down or something. The service is usually faultless - this must have been an off night but I wouldn't like to mark them down for it. I'll continue to go here, either with family or with friends - and if you're in the area it's definitely the best place for Indian food for a good few miles.
