The meals I would recommend is any grilled fish (dourada, seabass, salmonette, sardines, etc). Seafood rice is delicious. Also try any Cataplana dish. Thanks to google translate we were able to figure out what we were ordering. You order from the blackboard menu that's in the entrance and you point the fish that you like and they'll cook it for you. They had red wine that were in unlabeled bottles which was on on the sweet side. It seemef more juice than wine. There's nothing fancy about the place. It's a mom and pop operation. You can tell the seafood is fresh. We had deep fried fish and a grilled sea food kebab-like dish. I don't recall the names anymore. We also observed how the locals eat their food. They use olive oil as a condiment like we would use ketchup, or an Asian would use soy sauce. So we poured it on our fish, squid and shrimp and sure enough they tasted really refreshing. First one in a backstreet snack bar in Campo Pequeno was salty but delicious, next one near the water in Alcântara was bland, but this was perfect. In a perfectly seasoned herb and garlic broth, every one (and there are a lot in an order) was clean and fresh. Don't bother with the big snails, they're tougher and not as tasty. Toasted bread, cheap cold beer, and lively companionship keeps it all moving. Patient, fun, and generous staff.
