I saw a YouTube video about I Tre Mercanti being the best tiramisu in Italy, so obviously I had to…read moresee what the hype was about. I found that I Tre Mercanti sold more than just tiramisu. They also sold cannoli and macarons, coffees, and jarred food items.
We started our wait at the bridge, which didn't look too long from there. Once we reached the door, I saw that the queue continued to snake inside. I waited an hour to finally order.
They make tiramisu freshly daily, including different flavors. I felt compelled to try all 3 that they had in stock at the moment. I noticed that the flavors did switch up while I was there as employees appeared to be making new batches with a pistachio colored cream.
I tried the classic tradition, amaretto & almond milk, and hazelnut. Call me crazy but the the traditional one was my least favorite of the 3. Sure, it was a tasty tiramisu, but this is the best in all of Venice? The other 2, however, exceeded my expectations. The hazelnut tasted like a Ferrero Rocher, and the amaretto & almond milk was my favorite since I'm a huge fan of marzipan type of flavors.
