The classes are super diverse and inclusive but more importantly, my sons were lucky enough to have 2 teachers that were absolutely excellent (Ms. Marcy and Ms. Shamel). They taught my boys so much - my 3 year old was basically reading and my older one was more than prepared for kindergarten. if you're lucky enough to get into their class, they will love your kids like they love their own. Beyond that, the school has fostered an excellent community among the parents who do not hesitate to chip in and help each other and who go out of their way to have social activities to bring the kids together. This is truly a special school with amazing teachers and community of parents.

Our experienced teachers really knew kids' personalities, their likes an dislikes. They kept close track of their progress in each aspect of Montessori curriculum and customized learning for them when needed. The school is a very safe and nurturing place with talented staff (after-school program is one of the best I've seen) and rich traditions. By the way, their celebrations are simply amazing! They remain among our most precious memories from that time.

When he was about to turn three this past September, he moved into the 3, 4 and 5 year old class. That is when they noticed he had a hard time sitting still and focusing. He was about to age out of EI (Early Intervention) and start CPSE (Committee on Preschool Education), which would mean the therapists that were approved (Speech, SEIT and OT) could work with him in his classroom environment. However, MCR does NOT allow ANY therapists in this school to work with children who have been approved to receive it. So, we were left with no other choice, and had to scramble to find a new school in the middle of October of 2018. Not an easy task considering that most were already full by that point. Luckily we found a school that my son adores. It is a play based, loving and nurturing environment, that is so in tune with nature and outdoor play. I guess everything happens for a reason, and we were very fortunate to end up where we are now. MCR does wonderful things with the students, my son learned a lot in his time there. Their holiday show and graduation are amazing as well, along with their camp. That said, Montessori is not for every child, especially a child that requires therapy of any sort. What bothered me about our experience is how they didn't give me any feedback of his behavior in the baby class (NK) prior to moving up. We did have parent teacher conferences twice in the school year, but they never spoke about how he was disruptive, couldn't focus or sit still. Had I known this was going to be an issue, we could have looked for other schools before he started in the toddler class. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, as we felt forced out of there in a way. In closing, I debated on whether or not to write a review about my experience with this school. However, I recently learned the same thing is happening with another child there, so I wanted to give other parents a heads up before you consider going to this school.

My son has a food allergy, and they have gone above and beyond to take it extremely seriously and make me feel completely comfortable and confident in his safety every day. When our second son was born, Gigi taught boys what it means to be a family, and created a strong bond between them. Since this is a mixed age group, younger kids naturally develop skills faster interacting with older peers, while older kids learning to be gentle with babies. As far as academics, they follow preschool programs and teach ABCs, numbers, shapes, working on scissors and glue...you name it. We don't speak English at home, so I can definitely tell boys developed their communication skills and academics at Gigi. In addition they teach Spanish too. During the 8 months my daughter was here, my experience ranged from frustration to extreme anger on an ongoing basis. Firstly, despite assurance of a 1:7 ratio, I often noticed a teacher alone with about 10-15 kids, in a bedroom size room. I rarely noticed a teacher completely engaged with a child. There certainly were a few teachers who were genuinely good and caring, but I thought, given the space and ratio constraints, it was almost impossible for a teacher to pay personal attention to an individual child and strike a rapport, which I feel is the most essential element of a quality daycare. Another aspect of my disappointment stems from the quality of education. Despite the high and lofty ideals advertised in the marketing materials. My 3yo daughter, who could count until 20, say all the alphabets, and was on the path to being fully potty trained, began regressing backwards in just a few months after joining this center. In the end, she could hardly count to 8, lost all interest in spelling, and started to have potty accidents 2-3 times a day. The center did not care despite my several complaints, and once the director even shrugged saying these things happen. Almost everyday when I dropped off my daughter, I had a deep pain in my heart for having to let her go through this. I let her stay there for 8 mo because I was helpless due to my job situation. She moved out, as soon as I had a first chance. For parents considering this daycare, I would recommend that you visit this center once or twice and evaluate it yourself. Explains why every week she was on vacation in California or on some international adventure. 2) The energy is HORRIBLE esp. if you are not donating to all of their programs. They won't even greet your child when you arrive with him/her. The teachers all look exhausted, unhappy and annoyed. And they are quick to tell you what they think of every detail of your child's abilities -- mostly negative. 3.) They charge a HUGE deposit (no other preschool in the area charges like this), and BEWARE of the contract. We lost several thousand dollars for taking our son out early. It's insane. 4.) It is so tiny that in the winter the kids are all huddled together in a small space -- ALL DAY. A MUCH BETTER OPTION: World Cup Nursery School. Having only had my children in the care of a nanny up until their placement at APLH, I was concerned about the 1:1 attention and their individual needs being met in a group setting and my expectations were exceeded infinitely. I could truly go on and on about our experience there but the directors are incredible--efficient, thoughtful, and loving to say the least. The staff is so warm and welcoming and made the transition seamless for my family. The facility is immaculate and full to the brim of engaging activities and developmentally appropriate toys. I loved receiving updates on their day, having the opportunity to celebrate holidays with APLH, and the ease of messaging back and forth with the teachers whenever I needed to. As working parents, we were eager to find the best care for her during the day. (Due to Covid, finding in-home care was challenging, so we had to look for daycares.) After extensive research- we enrolled our daughter here and could not be more pleased that we did! The hours are amazing and flexible. The teachers are an absolute joy and it is obvious how much they love each child. We get pictures throughout the day, and they also let us know which skills they are focusing on during their daily activities. We have an app that allows us to communicate with the teachers. This is where we can request they focus on a specific developmental need (more tummy time, etc), and inform them of anything they should be aware of (like teething or a rough night sleeping). No matter what time of day we pick our daughter up, we always are thrilled with what we see when we peek through the door. It is also great seeing every teacher in the school greet our daughter by name even if she is not in their classroom specifically.

There's no stressing about traffic or double-parking at the start or end of the day. We took our daughter out after five months but only because of lots of family engagements that would've kept her out anyway. We wouldn't hesitate to go back in the future.
