I live out of town -- my mother lives in a retirement community in Catonsville. I was visiting for a few days and realized that my mother needed a new mattress. I wanted to have it delivered while I was there so I could get her situated. I called and got David on the phone. He recommended a high quality mattress that was on sale for a good price. He arranged to have it delivered the next day. The delivery guys came when they said they would, took away the old mattress and put the new one in place. They even put the waterproof encasement and the mattress pad on the bed. My mother has a bad back and some mobility issues. The new mattress was super comfortable, but just a little bit thicker than her previous one. This made it more difficult for her to get into bed. I called David the next day to seek a solution. He suggested a lower profile foundation. He had one in stock. Because it was a safety issue, David moved heaven and earth to get the new foundation to my mother quickly. I had to leave before the foundation could be delivered (although it was just a day later). David and the manager of the Frederick store personally took the new foundation to my mother's home. When they were finished putting everything in place, David took the time to call me, told me that they had even made my mother's bed, and told me she was lovely. Not only was the delivery not completed as promised, but the total lack of communication and subsequent lack of apology from your staff has resulted in significant personal and financial inconvenience. I stayed home today specifically to receive this item. Because I received no update or notification that the schedule had changed, I am now facing the following consequences: Financial Loss: I was forced to take a leave of absence from work to be present for the delivery. Childcare Costs: I incurred additional expenses for a babysitter to assist while I managed the expected delivery. Safety/Health Concern: Most importantly, the mattress was intended for my infant. Due to your company's failure to deliver or notify me, my child is now without a proper sleeping surface for the night. When I contacted your team to resolve this, I was met with indifference and no formal apology for the oversight. They hard-sold me a little bit, but it was nothing i couldn't handle and I left, so i thought, a happy customer with a brand new $4000 mattress. The problems came after my mattress was delivered. After a week or so, my husband and I developed excruciating back pain with the new mattress. MY husband would wake up and his leg was numb in the mornings. We assumed, that like most mattress retailers, Mattress Warehouse would offer us the ability to return or exchange our mattress since it wasn't a good fit. (Mattress Firm, for example gives you 120 days to exchange and if you still aren't happy will return for a restocking fee.) We were informed when we called Mattress Warehouse that they under no conditions accept returns and will only offer us a one-time comfort exchange. When asked why this wasn't disclosed to me when i purchased, they told me it was printed on the back of the receipt. What this meant is that we had one shot to exchange for the right mattress or we were out of luck. This is, of course, a very stressful situation as it is very difficult to know which mattress is right for you when laying on it in the store. So, we went back to Mattress Warehouse to exchange and THEN were informed that not only did we only have that one chance to exchange, that if we exchanged for a less expensive mattress, we had to FORFEIT THE DIFFERENCE. The mattress we were most comfortable with was about $1,500 cheaper, however, they Would not give us the difference if we picked that one. There was no other bed in the store that was the same or more in price. We had to drive to yet another location where they had extremely limited selection at that price. It is important to note that the mattress we originally purchased was also the one that their computer "sleep analyzer" suggested for us. So, we were unable to return a bad mattress that Mattress Warehouse suggested and then were forced to exchange for a mattress that we weren't 100% comfortable with because they wouldn't even refund us the difference between the two mattresses. I would urge anyone considering purchasing from Mattress Warehouse to seriously consider checking out other retailers, because from the research I have done since, most of them have far superior return/exchange policies. I just wish I had done more research before I walked into the store, because now I'm stuck with a $4000 mattress that gives me back pain. It amazes me in this day and age that Mattress Warehouse is able to compete with this archaic policy in place. It's no wonder they hide it on the back of their sales receipt.

I hadn't done so, but after calling, the owner gladly let me in. The proprietor is an engineer who decided to research beds to help his and his wife's back issues. He then decided to start a small company to sell the beds. He specializes in organic latex bedding that you can built to your own softness/support liking. The beds are high end, and are made by a Virginia company called Savvy Rest. I was pleased with his knowledge of his mattresses. Although I didn't make a purchase, I would recommend checking his store out if you are looking for an organic latex mattress in the area.
