Big selection but went in and not one person in the hour I was there acknowledged me or asked if I needed help.

I have been a customer of the Patch for more than oh, about ten years now. I actually use to drop in with the old owner. I couldnt say enough about them. one thing anyone needs to know though is they are THE BEST, BIGGEST quilt store on the east coast and when you come in there. they are normally swamped. you really need to do your own homework a lot of times before you get there or you will definitely be overwhelmed with all the selections! I have bought three machines. (Bernina) and, an Accuquilt fabric cutter, a Brother "Scan n Cut". among tons of other stuff. their prices are right on. you will not find it cheaper anywhere even on Amazon. besides, I love supporting my quilting shop anyways. I do buy some things in bulk but, truly not much. If you can afford it and want a machine that does everything. Just go ahead and get the Bernina 990 or the Brother top of the line. you will end up with it anyway. (lol). they frequently have 0% financing and it isn't a bad monthly payment at all. the Ladies there are you family in Quilting and Embroidery and they love to talk shop. Help when they can and are so kind and sweet. I just cant say enough about them. but, honestly it is a lot of fun there. go check it out. read more

This has been one of my favorite places (and worth the 4-hr RT drive) until my 3/6/21 trip. I understand inventory is down--everyone's is, but this is the first time I've encountered a rude employee here. I overheard her take a snippy tone with a customer on the phone, then in barging around the store nearly ran in to me--twice, and nudged me out of her way while I was browsing (I was in and out in 15 minutes, so it's not like I was camped out keeping someone else from shopping). With this kind of customer service I don't see making that drive again. read more

A friend and I drive together 2 hours from our homes to shop this wonderful store. I've always enjoyed the staff, have found terrific products and had a wonderful experience. Just participated in my first Charm Party, a special sale given annually for customers in their Charm program. It was fun and I saved a lot of money, too! read more

Great quilt store, very friendly and helpful staff. Saw their sign from I 81 and made a very productive detour. Lots of beautiful fabrics, notions, patterns, books, etc. Plus, they actually carry YLI hand quilting thread in assorted colors. Hand quilting thread is difficult to find. They sell and service Bernina and Jenome, but they didn't pester me to look at their machines or try to sell me one. I did snag Tula Pink's new collection of 26 fat quarters! read more

UPDATE: You're right, Susan, the incident in question did not happen to me but it absolutely did take place. Your staff accused my mother-in-law, Ofilia, 4 weeks back of stealing. She lives right there in Harrisonburg and has been shopping at your store for over 4 years. She does not have a Yelp account or any other internet media accounts which is why I wrote the review on her behalf. She just told us about the incident yesterday and based on the detailed course of events, I felt it very necessary to write this review. The employees on duty were Mary and Cynthia. Not only did Mary take my mother-in-law to the back room to check her for stolen merchandise, she went on about how you all need to install cameras in the store AFTER not finding a thing in her purse. My mother-in-law was completely upset, broken to tears, and absolutely embarrassed and your staff took it upon themselves to comment that you all should install cameras and not allow people with big purses into the store. What is the relevance for that line of commentary? The only thing Mary should be doing at that point is emphatically apologizing. I am a business owner myself in Fairfax and have dealt with clientele I suspected of theft. Even then, I have never treated people with the disrespect and malicious attitude that your employees showed my mother-in-law. Even now, instead of your response denying the allegations, it would of been much more cordial to message me directly to help clear up the situation at hand as opposed to outright deniability. That in itself goes a long way to show the attitude of both you and your staff. If anything, I hope this goes to serve as a turning point in both the attitudes and processes for you and your staff towards customers. Regardless, you will not be seeing any future business from us nor those close to us. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I will not be going back to this fabric store ever again. Two to three weeks ago, I walked into Patchwork looking to find some new fabric to make my newborn grandson some pajamas. About 5 minutes into browsing around, the manager approached and accused me of stealing. They escorted me to some back room and demanded to see inside my purse. I was so shocked and embarrassed that I could not even speak and broke down crying immediately. I showed them my bag and once they found nothing, the manager smugly apologized. Now I assure you, I have never stolen a thing in my life; even if I ever were to steal something, it surely would not be a yard or two of fabric from a store I've been shopping at for 4+ years. What a great quilt shop! Lots of variety of fabrics. There were lots of traditional fabrics, but also lots of fabric with themes for the local area (farming, farm animals, etc.). I was on vacation and like to stop in local quilt shops and pick up a few fat quarters of interesting fabrics I don't usually see in my own local quilt stores. The store was large, but not overwhelmingly so. The arrangement of fabrics, books, patterns, kits was comfortable (not too tight and closed-in feeling, and not so spread out you needed a phone to talk across the room). I was greeted as I walked in by a young woman at the register. As I browsed, another woman made sure I was finding what I needed. I was actually surprised to see two young 20-30 something staff as my local quilt store is generally staffed by 50+ aged women as was the other quilt store I visited on this trip. I purchased a sampler book and some fat quarters. I didn't realize until I arrived home that the charge for my book was more than the ticketed price on the book. A simple phone call to the store, chat with the owner and a picture of my book with printed price and store sticker price resolved it. I would gladly frequent this store if I lived in the area. I will visit again if I am in the area as well and definitely putting them on my online list of places to look for fabric. read more

We found this shop to be a very nice quilt shop. The shop was large with a well organized selection of traditional fabric. It has a good selection of batiks but lacked contemporary material. There were two comfortable chairs with a nice selection of magazines plus a public restroom. The staff was friendly and helpful. This place is worth a return visit. read more
