Summary: 12$ minimum preferred for orders and at about 8:45 p.m., there is a flamenco dance performance included.
Flamenco truly is meant for upclose intimate parlor type performances, so it is totally right to eat a meal and then have a performance for up to 30-40 people rather than an amphitheater or large stage for other types of dance performances such as ballet. There are 2 rounds of performances, each about 30 mins each and they change outfits and rest in-between for about 15 mins. You have 1 singer, 1 guitarist, and 1-2 dancers. It looks like there is a main dancer who is often featured at this place. When you watch flamenco, you have to really see the faces of the dancers with so much passion, emotion, and tension. Flamenco is almost a dialogue between the singer, the guitarist and the dancer.
Call this place early to get a seat up front to see the footwork of dancers and appreciate how fast she's going (how do they not have osteoarthritis from doing so much tapping and stamping). Watch the guitarist, he is watching the rhythm of the dancer's feet and playing at the tempo. The singer is also telling stories with her voice. The singer apparently has competed and come in top 10 in Spain for her folksy guttaral voice. Idk how the guitarists' fingers don't burn from playing constantly that long.
Foodwise, it's not the best. It's touristy and the dishes are 3/5 at best. I ordered the salmorejo, the pork and noodle bit soup and my friend ordered the octopus on potato dish. She said her dish was ok compared to what we had ordered in other places The salmorejo was good- you can't really mess up a cold dish of only 4 ingredients (sherry vinegar, tomatoes, bread, and garlic). The pork soup was a little bland and salty.
Highly recommend this place for those who want an inexpensive but quality performance. Food isn't the best, so don't come with high expectations for a spectacular meal, but if you're wanting to experience an intimate and unclose flamenco, then this is an excellent deal settled in Old Juderia of Cordoba. read more
