I've been a patient of Dr. Wolfson for a 15 years and I credit him with literally saving my life…read more I'd been bouncing back and forth between psychotherapy to psychiatrists for decades and remained undiagnosed until I found Dr. Wolfson. After sharing my history and experiences he diagnosed me in the first session. I was relieved and scared and he guided me through the process of getting medicated which is no easy feat and has been a sounding board and supportive ever since. We've worked together-yes together over the years spanning 3 offices and I've always felt safe and comfortable. Offices can be shared spaces and the people he's shared space with have always been professional and safe with little to no interaction with others. Throughout my time seeing Dr. Wolfson he's been available to me in person, through email and phone as well as Zoom. He even visited me in the hospital when I had a life threatening illness. I can't emphasize enough the important role he plays in my life and feel truly grateful for his professionalism and genuine caring and support. My only fear is that one day I might be without him.

I've been meditating for over 15 years, and have been in therapy most of my adult life, but my tools were not working anymore. I did not want to be on a daily dose of anti-depressants. I was curious about ketamine-assisted therapy, and a friend recommended Dr. Wolfson. Meeting with Dr. Philip Wolfson made a huge positive impact on my life, I did not realize how depressed I was, but after a single treatment in his calm office in San Anselmo, I felt the heavy depression lift. That afternoon I went for a walk in the woods and I felt my mind "quiet" for the first time in months. I was back to my old self! Further treatments allowed me to find that sweet spot of feeling my feelings and not being overwhelmed by them. It has been over a year since my first treatment, I have not felt that heavy depression/anxiety feeling since. Dr. Wolfson put me at ease, he explained how the medicine would work, but better yet, he set the perfect set and setting for me to surrender and begin my journey toward wellness. Thank you Dr. Wolfson, I am beyond grateful for the positive effect you had on my life. Highly recommended to anyone struggling with their mental health!

Previous psychiatrists I had before Dr. Oklan were nowhere are skilled as he is. Experience and expertise go a long way. I am stable and in great care in regards to my psychiatric needs, thanks to him. He listens well and uses what he hears and sees to make good judgement on the next step forward for me. 5 stars all the way. He's the best in the business.

For another patient, Oklan told me he prescribed 2000 mg daily, which is 1200mg over the safe dosage consensus. Both dosages were well over the 600 mg highest dosage tested by the pharmaceutical manufacturer of Seroquel. Since that time, I discovered that Dr. Oklan has received payments from the drug company for prescribing Seroquel since before 2014; averaging around $110,000 a year while the drug was still in patented form. My son committed suicide one year after being put on antipsychotic drugs alone. During 2013 through 2015, there was no suicide ideation or risk of suicide put on the drug information sheet, nor were we warned about this risk from taking the drug. I believe that accepting payments from the drug company strongly influences clinical decision making and is unethical and irresponsible.

The rough can only obscure a gem like Dr. Balt for so long.  Dr. Balt's style precludes traditional "paper" diagnoses, which, at least to me, makes the most sense because no one can maintain with any level of confidence that their thinking and psyche can be wholly and correctly labeled in a box. Let's face it: our thinking is fluid, as our issues may be of mercurial function. Dr. Balt not only fully understands this truth but clearly relates to it in his treatment, which I would describe as medication-assisted psychotherapy.  Seeing Dr. Balt every other week since Summer 2018 has been perhaps the most rewarding experience I've accrued in that same timespan. I had seen other providers, but only Dr. Balt recognized my issues as specific to only me, as a person.  Dr. Balt's "collective" approach assures that you won't be stuck scarfing down tablets for reasons you don't fully understand or agree with, and compromise is the name of the game when loggerheads nears broaching.  Without delving into my personal issues, suffice it to say that complexities have been manifold, and I've honestly actually come to eagerly await each and every meeting with Dr. Balt!
