You have to drive by this AirForce base and drive through it as you proceed north on A1A along the east coast of Florida between Satellite Beach and Cocoa Beach, Florida. We have driven by it a gazillion times. We get to look at some of the older planes parked out on the runway. And as the years go by, we can see the increase in buildings and base housing -- it's a lot (!) that is really quite wonderful. The base, itself, is located right by the beach. There's a nice area next to the ocean and a playground right outside the walled complex. What else they're doing inside the base, I have no idea. I've read some of their history. It is named after a Major General. It opened in 1940 originally and was only renamed the "space force" base in 2020. And they do manage launches of uncrewed rockets at Canaveral. This is one of two Florida bases with this name change. According to one newspaper report, it cost $50,000 of taxpayers' money to change all the signs. However, the name change and the "new" signs indicating this change always make us laugh at bit because of some of the science fiction movie/television show connections, memes, and political jokes that were prevalent when this new "force" was proposed. read more

Patrick is a great place to stay, we've been here many times. Stayed in VOQ right next to the river. Highly recommend the riverside dining facility, great food and service and can't beat the price. We were surprised not more people were eating there. read more

Family and friends day, love the base. It was a great day, toured the C12 and the helicopter and took pictures. Hot dog and hamburger lines were long. The show with the K9 was great, watching the soldiers get dunk in the dunk tank was a highlight. read more

Air Force takes care of their people. Army is mission first then the soldier. My father was in the Army but retired down here several years ago. We've been stationed at Air Force installations and I've seen a number of others in various countries. This isn't Rammstein AFB but a very nice base. Commissary was renovated a couple of years ago. The BX/PX is decent. All the essentials plus a food court. Lots of parking for either and a nearby Burger King, gas station, and class six/shopette close by. They have a nice golf course. Marina with restaurant and bar. Boat and trailer parking. Nice Banana river view and view of the Atlantic Ocean. Base is split in two parts or so it seems. Pineda Causeway entrance and then the entrance across from the ocean. That portion is more runway but has the ID card office and various other buildings. On post housing looks nicely remodeled. Generally post housing isn't great unless you are in officer quarters but it's a mile ahead of most others you'll see elsewhere. read more

This review is strictly a review of the on base gym that is open to active duty and retired military... The best military gym I have ever experienced. They offer a massive cardio room, 2 weight rooms, spinning bikes, area for kick boxing, outdoor CrossFit area, full size basketball court, locker rooms with showers and lockers. The people working the front desk are extremely nice. Gym is never too hot or too cold. They do have radio playing on the overhead speakers but it's not loud at all. There are no TVs in the cardio or weight rooms which I like because it causes people to stand around. This gym is two floors of everything you need to stay active, no excuses if you have access here! read more

This review is based solely on the water side bar/dock area they have and the exchange as well. The water side bar is absolutely amazing. Very comfortable, beautiful set up, and incredible prices. I highly recommend going there on a Friday night and drinking (responsibly) and enjoying the music. It was my first time and it was an awesome experience. The reason I did not give them a 5 star review is due to the prices at the exchange and their availability of trinkets and things to take home that say 'Florida' and/or 'Patrick AFB'. They have a very limited selection (think a couple shot glasses and bottle openers. that's it.) I can understand that this is a military installation and not a tourist destination, but on the other hand people do visit from out of state (or even just out of town) and want to buy something to support the AFB and commemorate their vacation time. I would recommend comparing the prices inside the exchange to that of the outside prices because their prices on everything (not including trinkets..go figure) are extremely high. As in 20-50% higher than even the manufacturers. Why are a pair of bose headphones more expensive at the exchange than literally anywhere else? same with shoes, laptops, pots, pans, TV's, etc. read more

Literally the nicest base I have ever seen. It's like walking into a country club/resort. The airmen who live here know that they're the shit with the apartment style living and their ocean/river views. I am so jealous that all we have to look forward to is Fort Drum when they have this nirvana of paradise. The homes are beautiful and well kept. There is no trailer trash surrounding you as you walk into the PX or commissary. Trucks are not lining the streets with service members making fools of themselves, blasting country music and drinking beer while their teen wife is pregnant with their fifth child. It's a very prestigious area, so beautiful. Everyone is not only respectful to you but also of themselves. If I could live there, I would. Even their stores were clean with the parking lots kept in pristine condition... I couldn't find a single cigarette butt! You will not find anything like this anywhere else. Every year they do an air show for the locals which makes for a fun summer day on the beach, complete with awesome entertainment. Army bases are like trailer parks compared to the heavenly PAFB. read more

Awesome base! Clean and well kept like all of them, decent size exchange and commissary...

We visited this base in late November hoping to find a comfortable layover before continuing on our trip south. This inn was not a lodging but a retrofitted barracks with inadequate parking/facilities for the physically disabled. The clerk handed us a blanket because the heating/cooling system was centrally controlled and unable to be adjusted. The barracks room had a front room with had the seating area and you had to walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. If I were non ambulatory, I would be unable to get through the narrow doorways. For $120 per night there was no complimentary breakfast and other than burger king no place to get breakfast on base. Folks at the rinky dink coffee place were super rude and didn't acknowledge us when we walked in. The food court had ONE facility (subway) and a shoppette. EVERYTHING on base (museums) were closed on Mondays. Needless to say, had we known this, we would've kept on driving. What a disappointment! read more

Went to the NCO club called The Tides for a wedding. Its a very nice venue on the beach when comparing location and pricing to the hotels along A1a. It has direct access to the beach, and a huge lot for parking. If I had wedding here I would consider having it here. read more

We stayed at the 2bedroom lodging family units on the beach. Here's information we did not know. The beach lodging is not on base but across a busy highway, located between a busy road A1A and sand dunes. You could not see the ocean like in Jacksonville lodging. We had a spacious 2 bedroom but they only had 1 twin in the 2nd bedroom (?!). Beds were comfy but not the pull out couch. They do not have roll away cots either. We had 5 in our party and had booked a 3 bedroom a month in advance. Our booking was changed the day before. (Note: the 3rd bedroom only has a twin in it as well.) Place was clean and neat. read more
