I am a regular customer here and normally they do a…read moregreat job...however...I have expressed to them three different times now that I do NOT want my dog to have his long hair cut into a mullet. I went away for the weekend and had my wife take my dogs to Pampered Paws for their normal grooming (my wife normally does not take the dogs to the groomer and she doesnt know my expectations). Upon my return home, my dog Jo Jo had a very ugly mullet cut. The staff at Pampered Paws have asked multiple times in the past if they can do a mullet on my dog in which I have told them no. So on the weekend that I do not oversee their grooming, they send my dog home with a mullet. I am very unpleased they did this instead of providing the normal cut I get him. I have a very sour taste in my mouth knowing that they have gone against my known preferences when I pay to have my dogs groomed a certain way. Further, I now have to waste gasoline in an expensive economy to drive to the North side of Springfield (I live on the far south side of Springfield) to get his haircut fixed.

My larger shih tzu had a bad experience once at a different shop when a groomer sheared his neck too close and he's always been a little timid because of it, and he was so calm and happy leaving Pampered Paws, so I know they treated him well. They still smell fantastic and they look so so cute. She did a great job on their paws and nail trim also. Took about 2.5 hours until I was able to pick them up from a morning appointment. WILL be going back for the future!

Took my dog in for a full groom and specified exactly what I wanted done and what length on certain…read moreareas, and left a short list of notes for her. She estimated 2-4 hours. I never received a call so I came back 5 hours after my appointment was scheduled (I dropped him off 10 minutes early) and he wasn't done. She left most of him too long, but forgot to switch blades and left a bald spot on his tail. Also, he wasn't thoroughly bathed and whatever was put on his coat afterwards left it greasy and attracted a ton of dirt. He had to have another bath less than a week later. All of that said, I think he was treated incredibly well while she worked on him. He was his normal happy go lucky self when I picked him up. The groomer was extremely nice and I can only assume she was just booked a bit heavy that day, resulting in a subpar groom.

I wasn't asking for the $200 vet bill back. I wasn't asking for a free haircut. I just wanted to know that my dogs are going to be safe and they had to clean facility. When I called to let the business know as a courtesy they seem very uninterested in the information and just said yeah it's going around. Keep your doggos safe and stay away from bark bath grooming.

I called to make sure that they did walk-in nail trims and to see if I needed to bring in my dog's vaccination records. The man on the phone told me that I did. The young man greeted us at the door and asked what service we were there for. I told him a nail trim and he immediately tried to take my dog. I asked if he needed to see his vax records or if I needed to do any paperwork. He said no. Then he PICKED UP my 80 pound dog to CARRY him from the front door to the back. I was shocked and confused. I said, "Um, he will follow you back, you don't need to carry him..." He said, "Oh, it's fine." While I waited, I sat in disgust and horror as I took in my surroundings. I could hear my dog whimpering and whining, which he literally never does. It smelled like pee and cigarette smoke. There was fur all over the carpet in the lobby. The area that I'm assuming is the dog play area, was covered in hairballs, and a pile of feces. Beyond that, was the grooming room... which was the nastiest sight and made me extremely uncomfortable. It was absolutely covered in fur, toys, and trash on the floor and the table space. I literally left wanting to vomit. As I was leaving, I drove around a little bit and noticed that their outside fenced in area was quite small and part of the fence was broken enough to where a small dog could easily escape. This place needs to be shut down. I would not recommend it to anyone at all. The single star can be for the young man who was nice and fast, but that's the only positive thing I have to say. Definitely not worth my $10.
