The park is relatively brand new looking on a 35 ft hill over looking six tracks in the observation area. There is wide ramps for disabled people to get up there with a covered roof and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the action. There is a caboose and a crossing gate to build the rail theme of the park. Ample parking across the street for $1.25, park and when you leave deposit the money, even if it's one hour or five hours. You will see Amtrak trains, Metra trains and freight trains. One thing that I didn't like was the genius who put the info boards on the track side on the top of the railing which will limit the camera and video shots because they will block them, hey put them on the back side and get them off the viewing side. I actually moved to the Metra station which has better un obstructed views and more trackage in eye shot. Overall it's a nice idea for the train nerds but they obviously didn't consult train nerds who take pictures or videos which is what most of us do so the Metra station is the better option.

Parking on holiday: There was hardly any parking but we did park across the street in the parking lot for the small children play park. The walk across the street was not long at all, but making it thru a ton of people was. safety: In today's society, it is not so safe to be outside anywhere in Chicago or the suburbs of Chicago. With the firework bombs and loud people I was kind of shaking siting in open field because of all of the mass shootings happening here. But On the 4th of July there were plenty of police but that did not stop the teenagers from running in the crowds with M-80's bombs. They did catch the "cool" teens who kept doing this but it still scared the daylights out of the younger babies there. Fireworks: The firework show was exactly 20 minutes long and worth the wait and mosquito bites. The colors were big and vibrant! my brother couldn't take his eyes off of it. They were so close it looked like you could touch them. they were very beautiful! I recommend bringing your family, but keep them in eye reach.

The bathrooms were clean; the park itself was clean and free of lose trash and debris; there were plenty of benches to enjoy the scenery and to relax; and paved walk ways to take a leisure stroll and enjoy the tree-lined Olympia Fields streets. The park is large enough to not feel like people in various areas are to close or infringing on your space. There is also a covered picnic shelter which is good if you want to rent the park for family events and such. I also like the wide flat area so that you can let the kids run free or you could have structured games for your events. It's definitely one of the better parks in Olympia Fields.

There is also the really fun Silo room which we are using for pictures. Almost everything you need to know about the meeting rooms is on the website. A quick call to the administrative office can answer any other questions.The staff there is really friendly and extremely helpful. They also have many great ideas to make your event great. I strongly recommend this to anyone that needs a meeting and event space. You can rent out one of the picnic areas in addition to the indoor meeting space. That is what we are doing for the ceremony. Extra Tip: Walk around the property, there is a ton of great picture moments, look at the fairway on hole 1 and 17 of the frisbe golf course. There is a great picture perfect moment.

I know Eisenhower has janitors, but I've never seen them do anything besides run a mop over the floor. To maintain a clean healthy place to swim, I would highly recommend the following * Clean the lockers (aerosol cleaner and wipe down) once a week. * Water vacuum the hot tub. There is sand and soot on the bottom of the hot tub that gets stirred up Everytime the jets are turned on. * Use clear silicon caulk to adhere the loose metal rings, around the shower heads, to the tile shower wall. * Clean the glass in the pool area, sauna, and locker room with Windex at least once a week (locker room should be done daily). * Pull the rubber mats out of the sauna and clean the sauna floor once a week. * Rub the cedar wood, in the sauna, down with teak oil, or similar natural protectant, yearly. * Use a natural bristle pool brush to scrub the walls of the pool. This will scrub off the algae and keep the pool water looking blue instead of greenish-blue. * Pressure wash, or buy a pool Zamboni and clean the pool deck nightly. Don't simply use a mop... This just pushes the bacteria around. The reason I'm going through the effort to write all of this is because I like Eisenhower. Unfortunately, year over year, I'm watching the facility deteriorate. Without regular maintenance, I'm not sure how much longer this community resource will be in operation. Lastly, I would highly recommend extending family swim nights from one night a week to three nights a week. People love family swim, and I very seldom ever see anyone swimming laps on other evenings. Yearly passes are pretty expensive, so family swim night is a great, inexpensive, way for parents to get their kids out of the house; and I am sure it is a great source of revenue for the Park District. Who doesn't like making money?! It's a win win for families and the park district.

We last took swim lessons at lan oak in 2019. Due to swim classes being in high demand we sometimes have to find other places to take them on top of that the pandemic shut most classes down. I was told that my daughter would have to start from the class she last attended with them (which was preschool... she'll be 7yrs old in 2months) When I asked if they would assess/test her skills to find the proper class I was rudely told "no" and when I asked if I could call the swim/aquatics supervisor to confirm I was told "THIS IS THE CALL"... idk if this is some sad attempt to get more money out of people by putting a child that has pool experience in a beginners class or if they're too lazy to test the kids. Whatever the case the receptionist is out of line and needs to learn how to interact/communicate with customers.
