This is the only grocery store town. They know that and take full advantage. The items are over priced. If something is on sale pay attention to the date as it may be expired. Inflated prices, poor fruits and veggies. The deli is ok, but they changed from slicing meats for customers to pre packaged. Over priced and too thick on the slices. A lot of products are over the "sell by" date, and still full price. There are items on the "Out of Date" on sale, but most times, the employees walk out the back door with the stuff. The interior of the store is fair considering it's age, floors look worn. As for the staff, the ones who pretend to be floor supervisors are little on the snippy side, and too young to even be able to know how customer service works. The self check outs are a joke, need to be removed and have real people in there, but I understand that no one wants to work there because of several factors. We stopped here to pick up something for Dinner after a long ride up north to visit family. We decided on a Rotisserie Chicken and Ribs from the Deli as well as some fruit, veggies, lunch meat, bread and munchies. Prices were in line with any store down by us, quality was fine and staff was friendly. read more

Yeah, it's the only grocery store in town. Larry's is in Baraga. Bad fruit, bad veggies, SUPER inflated prices. Every week I go there, I watch prices soar up on LOTS of stuff. Not impressed with the high prices, but it's not like I'm driving 30 miles up the road to save a couple bucks at Walmart. read more

Have yet to be impressed with this grocery store. Deli is constantly wrapping up items when many locals are getting off at 5pm. They refuse to make fresh product for the locals and the customer service has gone down hill terribly. When asked why they would not make more fresh product ex fried chicken, I was told no because we want to leave by 6pm. The meat area is disgusting the meats are an old brown looking product. That does not appear to be fresh at all. When asked if they had more in the back I was told yes but they did not have time to help me. If management/owners want to allow this shame on them. It is us towns people that keep them alive along with tourist in the summer months. I have decided I will save the money and wait to go to bigger box stores in other towns, if I don't have it I don't need it. Farewell Pat's Foods in Lanse. read more

Amazed how many options are available. This store is always clean and fully stocked. So much better than other small town grocery stores. Meat is always high quality. They offer good weekly sales. read more

I like Pat's. I've never been disappointed with anything there. Their deli chicken is terrific! I think they do a good job.

I have been a Pat's shopper for years. Mainly because it is the only grocer within walking distance, and I do not drive, so I am pretty well stuck shopping there. I have noticed over the years I am very careful with what I purchase there. In the past and still today, there can be found out of date food still on the shelves. The other day I picked up a can diced tomato, it was 6 months out of date. Pat's is also in the habit out selling out of date foods, or foods that are close to expiration. Right now there are liquid coffee creamers, (seasonal) from as far back as October on sale. Beware of the "deals" on meats like chicken!! These are out of date and repackaged sold as a "bargain" under 5 for $25. Hot dogs are the same when you see a sale for "10 for 10", look at the dates. It is over priced because it is the only grocer in town, and they use the excuse "Gas is expensive". A jar of Miracle Whip dressing is over $5, compared to Family Dollar @ $3.50. A can of vienna sausages at Pat's is $1.29 whereas at F.D. it's .50 cents. Eggs are a joke at almost $2 a dozen, and prices on other meats are even worse. Sale events are a joke. A majority of the items that are "Bargains" are still more expensive than that of other places. Beware hamburger sale, especially if it packaged there. Mixed with lesser quality and soon to expire meat. Vegetables, whoever is over that department should be fired. I walked by this evening, green peppers, over a dollar each, and they were soft, and wrinkled. Lettuce sale, lettuce had brown spots and excess water in the packaging. looking at the oranges, they were dated, soft spots and the beginnings of decay. The store overall is not really that clean. It is cluttered with too many display cases that should be removed to give shoppers ample room to manuver the carts. Overall, Pat's Foods has not impressed me over the years. Inflated prices, questionable meats, and out of date shelf items. There needs to be either a Wal-Mart or Econo Foods, to give people a better choice of places to shop. read more

Decent selection for a small town, but the store always feels like they're trying to cram too much into too small a space. It's also got a vaguely dirty feel for a store that isn't very old. read more
