This is a great place to stop to fuel up and pick up some beer, wine or snacks. They do not charge tax since it is on an Indian reservation. They were charging $2.72 while everyone else in the previous town was $2.99. Their wine prices were also very good and no tax so we loaded up. Great stop. read more

Prices are good but you pay for it dealing with the rudest young ladies working the registers. I was waiting the one young lady was eating. But when a young man come up she told me he was there first. He wasn't she knew I was waiting. The young man should have even stepped aside but no. My bosses would have fired me on the spot but you can tell by the other cashier nobody cares about redness. Not worth shopping there. read more

Best deal on gas in the UP. In general, gas prices int eh Michigan UP are higher than in Wisconsin. However, once you're up north, you gotta gas up somewhere. This is a good place right along US-41 on the way to Houghton or Copper Harbor, or if you're going around Lake Superior. The place looks like a gas station fashioned after a log cabin. I believe the store is run by Native Americans. The gas is easily 10-15 cents a gallon less than what you'll see in Baraga, L'anse or Covington to the south. Inside the convenience store, the aisles are spaced out wide, with plenty of snacks, drinks and other products to choose from. It also has a high ceiling which gives it the feel of being in a large hall lined with store shelves. Contrary to the other reviewers, I've found the bathroom to be just fine. read more

Avoid this place. The gas prices are really not that good. 15 cents cheaper? Maybe once a year, 30 cents cheaper? Never. Unless you're comparing it to Copper Harbor. The gas is usually about 3-5 cents cheaper. For a 20-gallon tank (monster vehicle), you're talking $1 in savings. $1. Is that really worth this: 1. The gas isn't as high of quality. I've filled up there and checked how many miles I could go, and time and time again it was less than if I filled up at one of the other stations in the area. Coincidence? I had friends do it, they found out the same thing. So is that even worth saving the $1 then? It probably costs more. 2. The staff there is not nice, at all. It's like they find the most unfriendly locals they can and say 'hey, bring your laptop with you to work and if people want to pay for gas, could you take a break from spider solitaire to help them?' 3. Long lines. It makes me sick to my stomache seeing people litterally waiting in line to fill up there. YOU'RE SAVING AT MOST $1 OVER FILLING UP SOMEWHERE ELSE. Not worth waiting, at all. 4. Dirty. The staff is generally-speaking very unkempt, the bathrooms always need attention and the floor must get mopped about once a week. But, if you need to save that $0.75, keep enjoying! read more

Cheapest gas in the entire peninsula, usually about 15 cents cheaper than Houghton and 30 cents cheaper than Marquette. Also the cheapest cigarettes (about $50 a carton), and some of the cheapest beer/liquor. Once had the loosest slots in the UP, but they couldn't afford to pay a slot attendant and a security guard to keep an eye on the two slot machines within the gas station. During your visit don't forget the Pines is the only Upper Peninsula location able to legally sell Everclear. read more

Overall this is a nice gas station with a good selection. The price for gas is always a lot cheaper than any other place around too which is nice. My only complaint was the incredibly rude cashier. It was about 6:20 am and I was on my way down state. I wanted to stop and get some KBC beer for my family downstate for the 4th of July so I went in to the store while my boyfriend got the gas outside. Immediately upon entering I don't see a soul in sight. I grabbed the beer and some snacks and went to the front. A guy watching an iPad at the counter didn't even greet me. Took him a minute to realize I was even there and when he saw the beer he sharply said "I can't sell booze before 7" and then looked back at his ipad. I was shocked at how rude he was. I didn't realize there was a rule about that. I'm not much of a drink person. I said "oh sorry I didn't know" and he just stared blankly. I went to go put it all back. Once I came back he silently checked me out. I said thank you or something along those lines after.. and he just went back to watching his iPad and ignoring me. I understand that being up that early especially on the weekend isn't fun for everyone but there's no reason to be so rude to your customers. I'm also unbothered by the fact that the guy needed some entertainment but when you're dealing with a customer it's probably best to put the iPad away for at least a few minutes just to check them out. read more

The gas quality is trash. Seemed to get less mile per gallon than any other gas station in the area. Remember, cheap doesn't mean best.

They have many pumps and their gases prices were the cheapest we found for miles until we were well into Wisconsin. They also have a decent well stocked convenience store. We were glad we stopped! read more

We were just stopping to get gas (no potty stop) so it was a quick and easy on/off the road. No problems. Four stars.

I saved 19 cents a gallon on gas when I went 2 weeks ago, so I filled up! I also got cigarettes for $29.00 a carton, which saved me a small fortune! I didn't experience anyone being rude to me either, as I see some other people commenting on here. They may not be overly friendly, but they are probably overworked and tired from standing on their feet in one spot all day! I will be going twice a month from now on! read more

I go there all the time I never had had any problems.And to the guy that complained about everything you guys are flipped out I managed a gas station and there is no way you can get different gas mileage than you get from the pines ...lol read more
