I wasn't expecting much, so I was quite surprised to find that Bright is home to What You Eat, an all-vegetarian cafe with heaps of vegan options. When we walked in, I knew right away I would like the place. It has a light, airy, cheerful atmosphere, and the place was packed so I knew the food would be good. I splurged. I had a liquid gold turmeric latte, the vegan schnitzel parmigiana (made with Bio-Cheese), and a vegan cookie for dessert. My boyfriend had the house-made vegetable and barley broth with garlic toast. Both of our mains were on the "lunch specials" menu and not on the regular menu, so I'm not sure how often you can actually order them, but both were DELICIOUS. My parma was easily the best vegan parma I've ever had (much better than the one at the Cornish Arms in Melbourne), and my boyfriend's barley and veggie soup was really hearty and tasty as well. Price-wise, it did seem a little on the expensive side, but given this is a country town and ingredients like Bio-cheese are not readily available, I can understand the pricing. Service was super-friendly even though the place was packed for the autumn festival. Highly recommend if you're in Bright and looking for a great place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I've driven past a few times and today I'm delighted that I stopped to try them out. It's breakfast o'clock and there is table service so take a seat and someone is right with you. They get it right with taking a coffee order right away, do I look like I need one? Well I did need one and lucky for everybody it was made promptly and delivered with a smile. Today I chose the Big Breaky Burger. I find it hard not to give these a try everywhere. I noted on the menu some additional ingredients that you won't typically see. This burger was clearly of a higher class. When it arrived (which was surprisingly quick, I guess they are quiet today, but awesome) the presentation was pretty eye catching. I blurted our something stupid and incomprehensible to the waitress. What I meant to say was "that looks awesome" and "thank you". Let's cut to the juice. The coffee is great, smooth with no bitterness! The bacon is delicious, maybe a light smokey flavour and crisped to perfection. The burger is made on a fluffy brioche bun as it should be. The avocado was generous and had a slight lemon flavour like they cared for it delicately begins the scenes. I love this place after one visit! I'll be back, and I'll bring other people. I was wondering why such a popular spot would be so isolated? But all is well worth the effort to get here. The venue is brimming with natural lighting, classic charm and warmth. For my breakfast, I ordered the Pixelated avocado (on a sourdough toast) because it just looked so darn intriguing. I didn't expect anything else to be honest, and turned out this was GOOD!! Every single element in this dish has complex flavors that compliments each other. The chili dried air kale, diced pixelated avocado and the soft shell crab was especially stunning. The dish certainly performs to its Instagram ability. For my drink, I ordered their matcha latte; it was strong tasting yet smooth. I could drink this all day! The Light Years is certainly not disappointing in any way, from the beautiful venue to the outstanding food, supported with service and ambiance for days. All the dishes I saw coming out looked great and were good sized portions. I had the bircher and it was a generous serve, looked pretty and tasted even better. Overall a good value and tasty option for brunch/lunch in the leafy inner east.

Well first thing I spot when I drive into town was Blynzz, a family coffee roasting business that pump out a pretty mean long black. They offer up two single origin choices for your long/short/macchiatos, on my visit they were from Kenya and Peru. There's also a blend for your milk based coffees. There is a breakfast and treat menu for those that would like some food with their hit, but I didn't try this so can't comment. You can pick up a bag of their beans or some monsieur truffle chocolate which looks divine and totally indulgent. An air conditioned oasis in the heart of gold country. Sometimes leaving the city isn't a bad thing.
