I've only been to their stand at the Beacon Farmers Market and I love their food! I've had the curry chicken and the stewed chicken. Both come with rice, cabbage and plantains. It has always been delicious and you get a really big plateful of food, enough for two meals. They are super nice people with great food! I see some really bad reviews here for the brick and mortar restaurant in Poughkeepsie and I really wonder about that. I've only gotten great food at their stand in Beacon, and I've been there many times. I think some of these reviews are for different restaurants and were mistakenly posted here by the reviewer? I was told they have moved the restaurant to Main Street in Beacon and are no longer in Poughkeepsie. read more

I don't want to rate this locale based on one interaction over the phone. I called to see if they have roti cause I've had a craving for it for a long while. When asked what kind of rotis were available the man answered sarcastically; "Depends on what you want". I get sarcasm at home for free. Won't tolerate it from no one else. I expected this man to list the types as shrimp, goat, chicken, soya and such. The food might be good but my experience is, if the service staff is miserable to deal with the public often (not all the time) the food is made without love as well. read more

Man this food is terrible. I just ordered fried chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. The chicken is Luke warm in the middle. It was probably fried at 11 o'clock this morning and has been sitting for 4 hours under a light bulb. The rice is plain and no flavor and the cabbage is... don't even get me started. The beef patty is garbage. I've had better beefs patty's from a bodega at 2am. All around terrible experience. Place was empty when we arrived. Ordered two beef patties with coco bread and stewed chicken. Was told they only had fried chicken which woman pointed at ( under the glass) and it didn't look appetizing so I ordered a third patty and coco bread. The patty itself tasted old, the beef was spicy but there was hardly any meat in the patty. The bread was no doubt old. We all separated the patty from the bread and ate it on its own. My son tried to eat as much of the coco bread as he could. (Picture is of my sons food) My daughter took a bite and ended up throwing the whole thing out. Disappointing place. Was looking forward to eating at an actual Jamaican restaurant but this was a waste of money. The eating area seemed clean and the woman working the counter was okay, standoffish but pleasant. I was super disappointed with their oxtail dish. It's very bland and the gravy is watery. To me, if you classify yourself as a Caribbean restaurant and don't have your oxtail on point, you have lost my respect and I don't even want to try your other food. Shame! read more

Delicious dishes for all meals of the day. Always something great being made here. I had the jerk chicken- so flavorful and tender fall off the bone meat. The side dish of cabbage was the perfect complement. This came with a nice serving of Spanish rice. I would definitely also reccomend trying the goat curry as well- a new taste for me The owner and chef Pat is so friendly and makes sure all customers are satisfied with the food. When it's warmer out the door is open and someone is always Inside either ordering food to go or eating a meal there- ample seating. Juices, desserts, and daily specials. My heritage is Caribbean and I occasionally come to town for business. I used to visit every week and have tried other restaurants but when Pat's Kitchen opened I quickly had a new GO-TO for my Caribbean food fix. I am a take out kinda guy so the decor is not a factor although it is perfectly fine for me. The portions are so generous and the food is on point - especially the curry and stew chicken. I usually get there too late for fish but called in for a "special" order and am sure it will be a new staple dish for me there. Karen has a permanent smile on her face and has always been friendly. Try it - you'll like it! Update: The snapper was delicious and definitely my new favorite. read more

I've had both stewed chicken and jerk chicken, as well as the same with pork. The flavors and aromas are delightful. Servings are plentiful, though perhaps too much rice and not enough veggies; the staff is friendly and helpful. Get there early because your desired food may be gone by 7 pm. read more

Delicious curry goat and fried plantains. Dropped in here for lunch while biking through town. Curry goat was tender and seasoned as I like it. Plantains were just right. Mixed vegetables were not over cooked; also just right. Staff were busy with many takeout purchases but service was quick and very friendly. I wish I lived closer. read more

Nothing bad to say about pat kitchen love the food and they always have good music playing

Not from around here, on tour with my band and decided to wander around finding somewhere decent to eat for the night. Jamaican sounded amazing. Unfortunately despite the fact that their front door said open until 6pm on Sunday, at 4pm the door was locked and no one visible inside. Open light turned on in the window, plus another window sign, open sign flipped on the door, and lights on in the restaurant, but they locked up with no explanation. Knocked on the door 3 times, no answer. Went back an hour later, they turned the window light signs off, closed most of the curtains, but the sign on the door still read open, door locked. Saw someone inside by the register, but he wouldn't acknowledge me. Interesting that there's a Grand Opening sign above the doorway, because this place is clearly on its way to closing in a month if this is how they operate their business. Making up their own hours as they go, not indicating they're closed when they are, and disregarding new customers when they try to come in to eat at their establishment. Probably best to stay away and find somewhere else to eat, unless you want to risk wasting your time. read more
