Tonight was the second time we got a pizza that wasn't freshly baked. It tasted and had the consistency of a pizza that was a day old. It keeps happening to us and we don't know how to fix this other than kindly ask Pippinelli's to stop selling old baked pizza. We only can tell it was old when we get home and start eating it. This is the most expensive pizza "parlor" in the area so for $30 I expect a pizza that just came out of the oven. This is the only place this has happened to us . read more

They only lose a star for their delivery policy. We were one of their first customers and they did deliver to us ( about 1/2 mile beyond on essentially the same road. The past three orders, we needed to pick up. since there is no legitimate parking, it's a bit of a hassle But the food is wonderful, particularly the pizza which has a great charred crust, excellent balance of sauce, or cheese, and that extra fresh basil on top. My adult children can't get enough of their mozzarella sticks. They are definitely not Sysco standard issue. And this time we tried the Arancino rice balls. They were well received. I usually pass on their salads because it's mostly lettuce with very little toppings. Everything else is a thumbs up. I would recommend the gelato. It is fabulous. Pipinelli's was a sudden, last minute decision for my mom and I-- and what a fantastic decision it was!! I called the order in at a pretty late time, the guy on the phone was incredibly courteous and a great chatter. We got the Fig and Bacon pizza, but since mom and I aren't fans of bacon on pizza, we asked to have that taken off. The guy was more than happy to cater to us, and even the shop was warm and receptive when I got there. And the pizza? *Divine.* We'll definitely be going back for more. read more

There was a private parking lot. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. You place your order at the counter and it is brought to your table. Our waitress was friendly and informative. The appetizers came out quickly. We had mozzarella sticks and meatballs. Both were excellent. We tried 3 kinds of pizza: Sausage&onion, Vodka, and pepperoni. We loved the pepperoni the best. Not only was it delicious, there were stacks of pepperoni cups. The Vodka pizza was tasty, allowing the flavor of the crust to shine. The sausage & onion was ok, but I prefer larger pieces of sausage to crumbles. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will return and try different pizzas and the calzones. read more

I've had pizza...everywhere and every kind. everyone has a preference and this place is my type! I was told everything was made in house and after the pizza came out of the oven w a perfect crust then came fresh basil torn in front of me and fresh grated Parmesan. I also had a cannoli for dessert, also fresh filled in front of me. The service was great and with a smile. I rarely give 5 stars but they deserve it. I wish I was coming back to Poughkeepsie again soon. read more

The pizza is great if you aren't looking for a sweeter tomato sauce, which I never am. We had the Pipinelli Pie and wow are they generous with the prosciutto. One improvement we'd have liked to see is for them to remove the "rind" on the prosciutto. You really can't eat it and so it's a bit of a hassle. Pipinelli's won't disappoint! Great pizza and service, with a classic slice shop vibe. Just off Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie, Pipinelli's recently opened and offers some of the best pizza in the area. We grabbed take out during their first week open, and although they were originally slammed and still working out their kinks, we have ordered at least four more times. Each time it gets better. Great quality ingredients matched with plentiful portions, Pipinelli's is now our go-to pizza spot. I recommend the classic pepperoni pie - crispy, 20", pep cups, and delicious. The unsung heroes of the menu are their garlic knots and unbelievable mozzarella sticks. All made in house and crispy (reminiscent of the now closed Amici's sticks). The staff is friendly and accommodating, providing a great experience for takeout. They are prideful in their quality and won't serve anything that doesn't meet their high standards. Dining room and parking are limited so plan accordingly to avoid waiting. A+ read more

Came back to New York State after 22 years in Florida for my Erzats Goddaughters wedding. Poughkeepsie. It's rare that I travel back to New York. It's very rare that I go out to eat. Ever more so for Italian food. Even MORE SO for pizza. So to humor my wife because she said she was craving pizza we asked and Googled and came up with Pipinelli's. Previous 44 years in NY. Between Brooklyn and Long Island. Half way out, Port Jefferson area. Been making pizza for 54 years. Owned 4 pizzerias restaurants and two more that were restaurants only. 3 in NY, 3 in Florida. It was a 25 minute drive. Believe me! It was worth it. A little unconventional set up but super nice place, great atmosphere. Friendly help, very knowledgeable and professional looking as well. Not as common as you might think these days. Clean cut, presentable. You We ordered a couple of regular slices, and a slice of "Tie Dyed". Which had vodka sauce, regular pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, pesto, and fresh basil. Fresh basil is always a good sign, especially when they use it liberally but not overused. A couple of Pepsi's too. The pizza was absolutely delicious. Perfectly baked crust, thin and crispy. It's needless to say, but I'm gonna say it anyway. And I'm not comparing this to my Pizza because it's practically impossible for somebody else to make a pizza you are going to like better than your own. But, this pizza was as good as the pizzas I got in Brooklyn when I was growing up. Before the industry got a hold of it as an idea and tried to improve upon it with mass production and modern scientific techniques and chemically produced and modified products. No bleached, high gluten flour. Only Sicilian olive oil and imported Italian tomatoes. Not that there aren't great pizzas out there that are made in the modern way. But this place, simply put, does not disappoint in anyway. They also have a nice selection of items other than pizza. A nice menu. A great selection of desserts (homemade fresh, daily),beverages, including glass bottle, Pepsi, Stewart's sodas in a glass bottle, and even though I don't drink it, a great a find. Manhattan, special espresso soda. These guys got everything perfect. They dotted every i and crossed every t perfectly. Run, don't walk, to Pipinellis for a wonderful dining experience! We had lunch here and frankly calling it a "Pizza Parlor" does not do it justice. There is a very nice menu for non-pizza dishes that is exceptionally good. Everything they do is home-made, including Gelato and other desserts. They use DeCecco pasta which is arguably the best pasta you can get - and not cheap. They also make their own bread which you can by for $5 a loaf - a bargain. They really care about using the best ingredients. It is not a big space - maybe holds 25 people for dine-in - but you can take out anything on the menu. They do not have a liquor license yet but they will do BYOB and they will take reservations. If I lived in the area I would be there at least once a week. This is such a great example of a wonderful local restaurant that is so far above chain trash. I don't give out 5 stars often but Pipinellis is a real deal Italian Trattoria that reminds me so much of mom and pop restaurants in Italy. Try it and you will be very pleased. read more

Haven't been leaving reviews lately. Pipinelli's warrants a change in this behavior... I have not had better pizza in the Hudson Valley area. Luckily this gem is in Poughkeepsie. I kid you not when I say I have probably had pizza from 50+ different pizza parlors since moving up here many years ago. This was the first place where I could honestly say "Yes! This is it..." Needless to say this fat boy's ordered from here like 3 times this week lol. Perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. Nice thin classic nyc reminiscent crust and VERY fresh ingredients to boot. To try and keep this brief I will wrap up by saying the Tie Dye pie is an absolute must and the wings and homemade mozz sticks deserve honorable mention as well. Pipinelli's is a great little place. People are nice and pleasant as is the atmosphere. I haven't had anything other than their pizza but it needs help. The sauce has no flavor I added some when I got home but no help...and the dough is a little tough. They need to ramp it up...too bland. Maybe I had an day old piece but no flavor. For the area, this is one of the better pies. Thin crust, good sauce, fresh basil. Interesting new technology ovens. Certainly not old school coal fired but seems to work. One recommendation....eat it fresh in the shop if you can. If in a box, expect a soggier, flatter tasting pie. Like all pizza in a box. One more thing, stick to a simple pie topping like pepperoni, sausage, whatever. If you get a ton of items on it like those stupid pies with dinner on top (chicken with vodka pasta and broccoli, LOL) you have killed the beauty of thin crust. Pipinellis Pizza Parlor is exactly what Poughkeepsie needed. Hands down, one of the best pizzas I've ever had! Perfeflty crispy crust, fresh ingredients, just amazing. The salads? Massive. I actually had to take half home. Don't even get me started on the Philly sandwich... unreal. And the homemade pistachio gelato? Wow somebody finally started making great pizza in Poughkeepsie! No other place comes even close. Really light crust, great sauce, thin NY style pizza. I had plain and pepperoni with jalapeños. Sweet, salty and savory. The owner and the staff are very nice also. The renovation is pristine. Definitely coming back. read more
