Jamie Jansen is a rockstar…read more After changing my wedding plans 5 months before the big day from a traditional medium-sized Ohio wedding to an intimate ceremony in NYC's Central Park I didn't know how Jamie would react. All I did know, is that I wanted him to come with us! I saw his books, studied his website, and heard raving reviews from friends that used his services and knew that no matter what over-priced, world-renown photographer I found in New York, their work would not compare. He is a true artist. He tells your story through his photographs. Did I mention he is super sweet, personable, and funny? Yep, He made everyone loosen up and laugh. He has a great personality, which helps him capture true emotion and genuine smiles. He went above and beyond. He actually brought another photographer with him to NYC (free of charge) just to be sure he was prepared to do the job right. And man, did he nail it. I have gotten a ridiculous amount of compliments on my pictures!! Why am I even rambling?? This is someone who is schooled in photography and really understands what he's doing, not just snapping away hoping for a good shot. He stacks the deck in his favor because he's schooled in film and photography. Jamie did our engagement shoot as well as our wedding, and it was FANTASTIC!!! Our engagement photos were the best photos of our lives until our wedding photos! He takes his time to make you comfortable, puts you in settings that will look great, and then has you be yourself. He is not a traditional "SMILE! NOW MOVE OVER HERE! NOW HERE!" He's looking to capture the real moments, not posed, forced, awkward incidents. To say we were pleased is an understatement - we continued to utilize her for the entire 3 years I was with the Museum. She is able to capture the essence of the event while in the shadows, obtaining some of the most powerful candid images I've ever seen. She is also skilled at staged/posed photos. Her attention to detail is out of bounds. Struggling with some of our gallery lighting, she took it upon herself to purchase a special lens filter - to ensure we received the highest quality images. We had Charlee Parker for our dj at my daughters wedding on May 31 at The Reserve at Stonecreek…read more I don't like to leave negative reviews but I feel as if I need to let you know my experience. I know Charlee was going through a divorce and maybe that's why he was not very "present" for my daughter's wedding. He was very laxed in his communication and most of the conversations were about him. My daughter spent so much time creating a play list which he did not follow and never played more than half the songs on the list. He did not announce things that were supposed to be announced and had to be reminded several times to do so. He was also drinking during the reception. He lost the father of the bride song an it was very awkward waiting for him to find it while my husband and daughter just stood on the empty dance floor. He was suppose to only play 1:30 for the father of the bride dance the mother and groom dance and the mother and bride dance and he played the entire song for each one. He never announced last call at the bar and he had no idea that he was supposed to stop Playing music at 10:45. We had to go to him and tell him. For what we paid for this service I am so disappointed and will not be recommending him to anyone. I hope the next wedding he dj's he is more present.

The exhibit was for students of both Akron & Kent State University to express their talents and some of the work I viewed was very interesting. Some of it was just so-so and a few pieces were very cool; as with any art show. The studio itself has some beautiful & I'm assuming original woodwork that I'd kill to have in my own home. I personally didn't mind all the stairs but this is definitely not a handicap accessible building :/ There is a cute little balcony and kitchen with refreshments...oh, how it would make a wonderful studio apartment!!! But if you're an artist looking to have a showing, it has great space, plenty of natural light and wall space! I was just bummed at the lack of sculpture - maybe next time.
