However, only one week before our wedding, we were assigned 'Anel,' whose work we had never seen. On our wedding day, the level of professionalism and quality of work was unacceptable: Lack of direction: There was little to no guidance on posing or lighting. The photographer made comments like, 'What was that?' or 'What's that face?' instead of providing constructive direction. Poor Technical Execution: Many family photos feature heavy, unflattering shade cast across faces. Across the entire collection, there is only one usable, direct shot of my husband and me facing the camera. Absenteeism: During the cocktail hour, which we hired the photographer to cover, the photographer was found sitting in the dressing room instead of actively taking candid photos of our guests. I actually had to seek out the photographer to initiate coverage of the event. Frankly, the final delivered collection lacked the quality and professional execution we would expect from a paid vendor. It felt like paying a friend to snap photos, not a professional with an understanding of lighting and composition. A further point of concern: not a single photo from our wedding has ever been featured on the company's website or social media. One of my favorite things about my photos was that he was able to capture my guests' genuine reactions during the wedding. He truly can rock the momemt. So talented! He knows how to pose people in small, medium, and large groups. He'll remind guests if they need to button any jackets to get that great shot. He knows how to incorporate the background so he isn't just taking pictures of people but really the entire environment. There is great balance in the photos. He was extremely flexible the day of. Their wonderful portfolio and loads of experience at our venue gave us confidence that they were very capable of doing a wonderful job. We booked them remotely without even having had a phone conversation with them. As our big day approached, it became clear that it was going to rain. A lot. Before the wedding, Seth and Dez hit us up about rain boots, ponchos, and even said they'd buy a bunch of umbrellas so we could have some fun in the rain. I can only imagine that photographing in the rain can be a very daunting proposition give that you're working with loads of expensive, non-waterproof equipment, but Seth and Dez never showed the slightest hesitation. Our photo shoot was scheduled for this Sunday, November 17 @ 11:30am. I was so excited as this was going to be my first family photo with my adult children and my grandchildren. Being a single mom my entire life, when someone offers to bless you with a gift like this you jump at the chance. We purchased matching outfits and even had my hair cut and colored so the pictures to come out just right. Well today, Thursday, 3 days prior to the shoot, Vanessa reached out to inform me that "something came up" and she was cancelling our appointment. Then she offered me a 20% discount if i'd like to reschedule. Needless to say, I was very upset. I expressed my disappointment to her and she simply responded with, "as i said, something came up". In my opinion, it sounds like she was trying to build her portfolio by offering free photo shoots to get her name and business more attention. I work with and have worked with many entrepreneurs who are starting out and work hard with offering deals to establish a customer base. Never have I experienced any new business owner to rescind on a free promotional offer, then proceed to offer a discounted rate if I choose to reschedule! Poor business practices - Not a good way to promote a new business. If you have no intent of fulfilling your offer to people then don't make offers you can't fulfill. I have no idea what kind of photographer she is but I can attest to her customer service which is appalling. If you choose to have your photo's taken with Vanessa - I suggest you do at your own risk.
