Dr. Soiya is caring, thorough, well prepared when seeing patients. He sits and actually talks with his patients and listens to their concerns. He reads the patient's chart before they come into his office. He knows their backgrounds, their families, their preferences. I have yet to see Dr. Soiya. He is the PCP for a good friend of mine, and that friend highly recomments this doc. then I read several reviews, some of which were highly negative due to the lacK if courtesy of his staff, the long wait times, billing problems and more. Is there anyone out there who can clarify these issues, and give a good and honest review of Dr. Soiya, and his practice, and address the issues I have raised? Expect a wait time, but worth it. You will have a Doctor who truly cares, listens and tries to resolve issues. Old school, spends the time with you that is needed, hence the wait time. When his office has excellent support staff like now, everything runs smoothly and efficiently with timely, caring and personalized treatment. Do not have Paul Soiya as your primary doctor if you ever need a call back, or want the staff to follow up with X-rays (they were ready in two days. Still never heard results 8 months later) or referral for any other doctor. They have never called me to follow up with blood test or podiatrist or anything...I had to call and call and call with promises made but never delivered on. As you can tell, I found a new-improved, responsive doctor. read more

Dr. Soiya is a good doctor but the business side of things is beyond dreadful. They are always running two hours behind schedule so a checkup turns into an all day affair. They do not accept credit cards or cash which makes payment a hassle. Then the billing agency they elect to use constantly bills wrong amounts with no little or no description of services. When you call the billing service for clarification they tell you to call Dr. Soiya's office. You call Dr. Soiya's office they tell you to call the billing agency. It is the definition of insanity as no one is willing to answer a simple question. Ultimately I feel the accountability lies with Dr. Soiya's office staff since they choose the billing company but they always claim ignorance which is beyond frustrating. If you are retired and Medicaid covers the billings and you have all the time in the world to sit in waiting rooms it could work but for all others I would advise finding another office. read more

My wife and I have been seeing Dr Soiya for more than 14 years. Obviously we think he's the best or we wouldn't continue seeing him. He's an excellent diagnostician and truly cares about his patients. He knows what test to order if he needs to delve deeper into and resolve an issue. His office staff has improved considerably over the past year so disregard all the negative staff reviews. His nurse Katie is also excellent and caring. Dr. Soiya is the kindest, sweetest doctor I have ever been to. If you're impatient or in a hurry don't bother, I always end up waiting forever - even when I called ahead to see if he was running on time. It doesn't bother me though, because he sits there and listens and never rushes and remembers the little details that make you feel like he sincerely cares. read more

Dr Soiya is the kindest Doctor I have ever met, he takes time to understand your issues, patient and knowledgeable. If you have to wait a bit longer, it's because this is not a rush them out kind of practice. He has been my Doctor for 8years. Now the down side of the office is Joyce, she is rude, impatient and inept. I have had several run ins with her, she NEVER answers the phone, makes it nearly impossible to get a refill and has even told a pharmacy I am no longer a patient of Dr Soiya's. Dr. Soiya is amazing. Kind, compassionate, intelligent, has the most incredible mrmiry, pay attention to detail that no other. Old school. Still hand writes his charts and I love it. He is worth the wait and most if all I support his private practice and not joining Honor Health. I love the girls too. Great job! Bring a book or music, but the waiting room is very comfortable. I wouldn't change for a silly reason that he gets behind. He gives all his patients his full attention and is truly interested in people as a whole, not a diahnosis. Soiya is a great listener and very caring with patients. Lots of experience and good bedside manners. He never rushes you in/out and takes the time to understand your problem. Definitely a old fashioned doctor who keeps long hand records. His downside--practice can be 90 minutes behind in his schedule by midmorning; when its your turn to see him you know why---he never rushes you in/out and explains everything. If you are a new patient,he easily will spend an hr, to get to know you and your problem. Bottom line, a great doctor well worth the wait. read more

First off, Dr. Soiya is a nice and competent doctor. However, is office staff is the absolute worse. All the reviews are true. There are a lot of doctors in that area, so be picky. My last physician I went to went is now with MDVIP so I needed to find a new doctor. I needed my annual wellness physical to be done. It had been over 12 months so I was due. I found Dr. Soiya in my plan and near my house. When I scheduled the appointment, I said I was a new patient and that I needed my annual wellness physical. I was booked for Nov. 22, 2017. The appointment went fine (wait time was after 1.5 hours, the doctor was running behind schedule, like all the reviews read he does run behind but I was prepared with magazines). I liked the doctor, very personable! After my appointment with him he sent me to Sonora Quest Labs to do my blood work. I did this all of this on Nov. 22nd. Then I get my claim and I owe the doctor $180.39! I called BCBSAZ and I was informed that I was billed as a regular visit, not annual wellness. I called the doctor's office many times, they said they would look into it and call me back but they never called me back (I tried calling three more times). So I finally drove there on January 11th. The lady running the front office Joyce was very rude, I had to explain the many times I have called, so finally she spoke with me. She said oh, the doctor doesn't know you yet to do a wellness exam, you would have to come in first and meet him and then schedule a second appointment to come back for the wellness exam. WHAT? When I scheduled the wellness appointment they never told me this and when they asked what insurance I had when I booked the appointment they asked me what my co-pay was and then said never mind, a wellness exam is covered. I then asked, why did Dr. Soiya send me to do bloodwork? That would have been done with the wellness exam and Joyce said that is how they do business there. That is crooked. No wonder this doctors staff has bad reviews on YELP. Not only that but I never got a call back regarding my bloodwork. When I asked Joyce when was I going to get the call regarding my blood work she said that the doctor only calls if it is drastic. What? He told me himself that I would get a call regarding my results. So, I don't even get a baseline on where my bloodwork currently is? I ended up getting the report from Sonora Quest Labs and I have a nurse that is a friend and she explained my results to me. Stay clear of this doctors office, there are too many other good choices out there without having to deal with a crooked, rude and incompetent staff. read more

I completely agree with Amanda's post. A+++ Dr. Soiya is the best doctor I've ever had! He is compassionate and never makes you feel he has sicker patients with 'real' illnesses (like some doctors do and doesn't tell you it's all in your head!) He knows a lot about everything and I have all of my trust in his judgement because so far, he's always been right about what's wrong (with me). For those reasons, I don't mind waiting for my office visit because he's a GEM! ~ read more

What's most important in a good general practitioner is the ability to diagnose and treat quickly...and get it right. Dr. Paul Soiya does just that. I see some folks rate him with a lower than 5 because they don't like to be kept waiting - but my feeling is I am paying the same for Dr. Soiya's advice as another doctor. Yes, takes a little longer, have to wait a little longer, and he spends time with me a little longer than what may be practical to meet my hurried schedule.. but I love that fact that my health report is that of a much younger person. Any doctor can get you in and out on time - Dr. Soiya gets it done right - to the welfare of the patient. THANKS for really caring about your patients Dr. Soiya. :o) read more

I would really like to write a great review for this doctor. My family members have been seeing him for 20+years, not to mention, I have seen him several times approx 4 years ago. I found Dr Soiya to be personable, knowledgeable and an overall great healthcare provider. Unfortunately, the Manager, Joyce, and her front office team are horrible. This Joyce is undoubtedly set in her ways, with no care or concern for the patient, their time, nor the multiple short cancellations. The front office team have been abrupt and quick to cancel the last three appointments I have had. Not to mention, today Joyce phoned me three days prior to my appointment to inform me they had to cancel my appointment. Explaining it was scheduled incorrectly. She argued whoever schedule me put me in a time spot that was not available to me since I was a new patient. Last i checked, they possess my medical records and are require to for 7 years. Having seen me a handful of times within 7 years, I do not quite understand her claim to continue to gripe to me that I am a new patient. Regardless, her imperfect management skills and lack of attention to my concerns caused her to abruptly hang up on me...hilarious!! I phoned her back only to be told no apology, no I am sorry, no customer service skills whatsoever. My suggestion to you, Joyce, hang on to your crappy life and the disgusting way you treat not just people, but your employer's patients; and never forget, you are not employable anywhere else.
