I called a third time, and learned that the first two people hadn't even recorded the message - there was no record of it in my chart or anywhere else! Additionally, I am bombarded with advertisement emails, which you cannot unsubscribe from, because it would also unsubscribe you from appointment reminder emails. This feels like a very predatory practice for a doctor's office, especially one primarily aimed at an older audience. It feels incredibly money-grubby. Dr. Johns is incredibly helpful, but I cannot recommend the practice due to the administrative staff, who are sometimes unhelpful to the point of being actively counterproductive. Unless you have insurance that covers literally 100% of your medical care and every single visit, I…read morewould RUN from this practice. I'm a generally healthy person with no complaints who is on a couple long-term maintenance medications for stable conditions. Not only did they require multiple appointments for simple prescription refills, but they then coded these visits as high-complexity - despite the fact that I didn't request them, I had no complaints, and all I needed was a prescription refill (for frame of reference, my previous provider wrote 12-month prescriptions for the same meds). I was billed $176 for each of the virtual prescription refill appointments. My final appointment there before I called it quits was a 15-minute virtual appointment (again, that the provider requested, not me) where ALL I NEEDED was a refill. The provider herself actually coded it correctly, and the billing team overrode the provider and change the appointment to the high-complexity code. I have worked in medical billing, and these appointments do not meet the requirements of a high-complexity code. They will bill EVERYTHING as high-complexity. So if you're someone with a high-deducible plan, this is NOT the practice for you. (Sidenote - they also admitted to me that their self-pay prices are actually LOWER than my contracted rate with insurance, but they would not give me the self-pay price). I went back and forth with their billing team, telling them I'd be happy to pay the bill when it was the correct amount. They stopped responding to me in February 2025. Today I got a letter from collections. I'm petty so I'll be fighting this until the bitter end and making sure that by the time this is over, they'll have spent more than $176 on collections and paying their billing team to argue with me, but I recommend saving yourself the hassle and just avoiding this practice altogether. (Also I can't wait for the part where I get their auto response to this review telling me how concerned they are and to reach out to discuss. I've already done that multiple times and no one there cares to remedy this situation!)

The previous doc, PA, and NP at Prevene we saw were all knowledgeable but also took the time to listen and do a proper assessment. More often than not, they also thought through root cause possibilities rather than simply looking for a band-aid to slap on via meds or overly simplistic advice. Our last few appointments with the new staff was full of interruptions and more talking than listening, telling me the same thing you could find online or in a book. We'll be looking for somewhere new.
