Paula could have laughed and hung up. Instead she was very kind and said it was very likely too low of an offer but that she would present it. She took the time to show the beautiful home to me and explained that there were a few financing options that I had never heard of that might make it possible to borrow more. She ended to selling the home for $80,000 higher than what I could afford which is great for the sellers. I was really impressed with her professionalism and that she took the time to educate a random caller offering too low of a price as a long shot. I think I've interacted with over 50 real estate agents over the last five years and more often than not they've been ethical disasters. One person at an open house at a gorgeous home was trying to steal the buyer in front of me away from her own agent who was too sick to be at the open house that day. The realtor wanted to make double commission and said she knew exactly what level she could lowball the seller she was representing. The woman said she would never be disloyal to the agent who had been showing her homes all summer. Sadly I've seen that multiple times. Each time I think of how the sellers who trusted this person probably have no idea that their agent is unethical and untrustworthy and driving away potential offers with their greed.
