They finally got corn tortillas for tacos! Now I can eat here gluten-free!…read more The lady who constructed my taco was really nice! She even let me throw on one extra condiment free of charge (shhh). I got a taco with black beans, veggies, sautéed onion salsa, guacamole and some medium salsa. It was really good and hearty. 3 tacos is only 25 reais! Can't beat that! There are some high tables outside. They are a bit crooked but still nice to sit outside. Good and quick option for lunch or dinner.

We remembered our friends' reviews and happened to jump out of the bus on the right block. There's three little restaurants, all fairly new, on this block all right next to each other and we'll have to come back to check them out. Overall great concept, good use of a tiny space with a glass counter so you can both see and pick your toppings (handy if you forgot the Portuguese words!) with a bar along the other side for maybe 8 seats. The area looked clean, well managed with a tiny bathroom in the back, hooks under the counter to hang your back and even an outlet to plug in your electronic. Options of meat (frango, carnitas, barbacoa, chili or veggie) and a variety of salsas, and toppings (cheese, sour cream, rice, beans, etc) gives you the opportunity to customize your meal. We got the small burrito (which was a healthy portion) with carnitas, cheese, sour cream and the hottest sauce. Unlike Chipotle, they actually mix the ingredients before rolling up the burrito so you don't have all the meat on one end of the burrito and cheese on the other. Despite the chili markings saying it was spicy (and I don't like spicy) it wasn't. However the chicken quesadilla with cheese, tomato, and pico de gallo was significantly spicer (despite saying it was mild). The slushy margarita mix with optional add in flavors of strawberry or green apple it exactly as it sounds. Don't expect any recognizable brand of tequila. Plenty of other refrigerantes were available as well. They do deliver and you can do take out too, so it's convenient either way. Pleasantly surprised by this find.

I wasn't expecting much for a Tex mex restaurant. But if you're looking for cheap large quantity…read morefood, this is your place. I got the nacho supreme which was filling but made my stomach a little uneasy. Nachos were fairly crispy, smothered in cheese, beans, guacamole and sour cream sprinkled in black olives and spicy salsa on the side. Their chicken burrito was typical but not as good as the real Mexican restaurants like La Calaca or Azteca. Their bottomless pink lemonade is like super sweet, unnatural flavored, pink dyed liquid. If you like fake drinks, it's tasty but if you're expecting anything like lemonade it's far from it. Service was minimal. Our server seemed rather disinterested in her job.

The background to this woeful tale in short is I lived in USA got obsessed with real Mexican food but would always settle for Tex-Mex. In Brazil? Bra-Mex is a bland assortment of either a) what people think Mexican food might be or b) What Brazilians might eat and pretend to be Mexican. I have tried this place a few times and concentrated on over priced margarita's and eaten the food quickly without thought. Added to the disappointment, last time i was here the whole "balcony area" was empty the whole restaurant was full with the exception of one table at the very entrance. I hate sitting at the entry table especially in a busy mall with music being played. I asked for a balcony spot, they said it was closed and they won't be opening it. I haven't learnt any swear words in Portuguese (deliberately) so I just smiled and left.

The sashimi was one piece cut in the 4 thin slices - very tasty but very small. The nigri came cooked to my surprise. when I asked the owner, she said it is not fresh so we need to sear it for safety. I was not impressed to be told this. moreover, the rice had a bite and inedible. when the bill came, this was the biggest shock. She charged me the equivalent of £25 for ONE piece of scallop sashimi on the basis that it came from Canada. She did not warn me of the price when I ordered and further dos lot share that the nigiri scallops would be defrosted. why can Sushi Leblon down the road served 100 times fresher and better sushi and sashimi for a fraction of the price? My advice is DON'T go to Azumi unless you want inferior food for exorbitant prices. The owner is very dishonerable. I paid, left and will never return.

Great selection of fish: yellowtail, tuna, sea bass and so on. The place is not that big, I would recommend you to eat directly at the bar table with the sushiman preparing your meal. I would recommend also to order just sashimi & niguiri, the rolls were not that good. The service was not so good, they only speak Portuguese so it was quite difficult to understand them. Anyway, you must come if you are visiting Rio!
