My shih tzu had her hair cut 7 weeks ago by Spruce Ya Pooch as I couldn't get her into our normal…read moreone. They were friendly enough but what they did to my shih tzu isn't what I would say normal! She was left bald! Literally skinned her! Fair enough she was matted in places but they didn't even attempt to get it out. They took her into their van and never had to door shut once! They had her attached to their lead at first but then touch her off.. she could have ran off! Baring in mind she would have probably ran home with embarrassment. I was honestly left heartbroken. Even my dog was so upset. They even cut her paw which was bleeding all over the floor which is when I realised it was her paw. I looked at pictures before booking with these too and they looked to have done a decent cut on shih tzus that's why I booked with them. But to then have my dog skinned with no fur coat on her at all not even her bushy tail or ears! She went from looking like a shihtzu to a pug. I had to go out and buy her a coat which is an extra small because she literally had no fur at all. Looking at pictures of cuts they've done recently it looks like they like skinning dogs and leaving them with no fur. Then cuts are okay for the summer but when it's so cold outside it's no good. My poor dogs hair is starting to come back now and she's now looking like the dog she used to be. It's shameful what happened to my dog so I would NOT recommend sending your dog here especially a shih tzu. So you wanted a review and this is mine.

However, when I returned 2 hours later, my worst nighmare had finally come into reality. My dog was now a unreconisable frankinstien; bushy tail, fluffly head, and butchered body which had been shaved to the skin and while my stomach was turning the pet lodge butcher laughted and suggested that she could have skinned his fur some more. The nightmare doesn't end here; I took him to the vets on the same day, after Pet Lodge, and they said his ears need cleaning- something which I had paid pet lodge to do. I now don't dare walk out in public with my dog. My dog has a serious complex with his new nakedness, and I feel like I have betrayed his trust that he put into me when I left him at Pet Lodge. He now keeps his head low to the floor and he sits curled up in the corner looking depressed- and I know it is Pet Lodge's doings as before I took him he was brimming with life and a very happy little confident- if not arrogant- dog.

Normally placid and with a lovely nature he turns into a he-devil when it comes to grooming... HOWEVER the staff at Pet Lodge deal with him admirably and he always looks and smells beautiful when he's done. If you don't want your dog to been shaved and there is no health reason for doing so just tell them - they do listen... I wouldn't go anywhere else now - always happy with the end results.
