I adopted my dog as a puppy in Jan. 2023 at 8 weeks. I had spent months researching rescue groups. I am so happy to have settled upon PawSafe. They were responsive to my questions via text or phone throughout the process. When I picked him up, the foster parents were there so there was an opportunity to hear see first hand how loved he had been. I waited a long time to adopt another dog, taking into consideration the high cost of vets, food, insurance, and reputable sitters. He I stretched my budget , but I was prepared, and he is worth his weight in gold. I had not adopted in years, but they were very transparent about the costs involved in the process. They indicated they would take $50 off the bill with proof of neutering, which they did. I was surprised by a couple of negative reviews I saw. The PawSafe Alumni Facebook group is very active. There are hundreds of very happy dogs and owners. We're like a family. I know people often write only when they have negative experiences and the rest of us do not, but I had to weigh in. They have the worst staff my dog has an incision that noone has info about and they are refusing to have the doctors call me and now I'm at the hospital with vet bills over $3000 and noone cares. I had a very negative experience with PawSafe. We have been searching for the perfect second dog for at least three years. My current dog is my baby and I wanted to find the best dog that would be a good match for him. After watching several rescues and meeting many dogs over the years, we decided to adopt a dog from PawSafe. We went to meet the dog on Sunday 1/12. I was very disappointed to find that our almost 9 week old puppy was not spayed when we went to meet her. We met her on a Sunday and were told by her foster mom that she had a spaying appointment on Monday, but that if we adopted her, we had to have our own vet do it. So I said great, have her spayed, and we'll take her home after. They said no. But they charged us $395 instead of $450, as a discount for that. I'd love to see where they think I could get a dog spayed for $55?? Try hundreds. In the adoption contract, there is a 30 day guarantee that you can return the dog for any reason if it doesn't work out. After giving it 28 days, it was clear that the rescue had not tested this dog with cats or small dogs. She was extremely prey driven and was attacking and terrorizing our cat. In consideration of all the pets in our household, we made the very difficult decision to return this dog. I contacted PawSafe on Sunday 2/9 to let them know that we wanted to return the dog. For several hours, I didn't hear anything, so reached out to my dog's previous foster mom. She informed me that 'Sunday is the down day for the rescue' so I might not get a response. Interesting, since I adopted the dog on a Sunday, and there was another potential adoption underway at the same time that Sunday. I also see online that there is an adoption event on Sunday 2/16 at the rescue's NY location. So I guess it's only a 'down day' for people they don't feel like dealing with. They have no problem taking your money on a Sunday! I did finally hear back and was informed by Diane that if I wanted to return my dog to the CT facility from which I adopted her, I would have to wait AT LEAST TWO WEEKS because CT was under quarantine due to sick dogs. Or I could wait 3 days and travel 90 minutes to their NY location, with appointment options given only during the work day. I have volunteered with the rescue where I adopted our first dog, and have fostered many dogs over the years. I'm not a newbie to this process and don't appreciate the way PawSafe goes about things. I think when a dog is terrorizing another family pet, and the rescue obviously had not properly cat tested this dog, that they rescue should do everything possible to take the dog immediately back into their care. Instead, they suggested that I board the dog (at my expense of course) for two weeks if I didn't want to deal with it. What kind of rescue suggests this? How is that a good option for this poor puppy? And of course, if I opted to do that, she then would have been old enough for additional vaccines, and I'd have to do those at my expense too. Why is that good customer service to suggest that? Ultimately, they gave us an evening appt on Wed 2/12 in the NY location. After taking the long drive to NY, I walk into the middle of an adoption event with 20 people standing around holding puppies. I was forced to wait almost 30 minutes before they'd take the dog from us. It was the most terrible experience of my life. Only PawSafe can take a horrible, emotional experience, and make it 1,000 times worse. Plot twist, to make things even more interesting, I took a look at their adoptable dogs today (2/13/2020) and see that they have over FIFTY puppies up for adoption in CT, available mostly on 2/15 and a couple on 2/17 and 2/19. With adoption events in CT on 2/15, 2/19 and 2/22. What happened to the 'AT LEAST TWO WEEK' hold on dogs coming and going? Just FOUR days after telling me that, suddenly they have capacity to take in FIFTY puppies, but not the ONE puppy that was creating a severely negative situation in my home?? Cool. By the way, do you know how much money they'll make off 50 puppies? 50 * 395 = $20,000. And I mean they can resell my dog again too so it's not like there's no financial incentive to take her back, I guess other than the fact they'll actually have to spay her this time. There are many better rescues to work with than PawSafe, that show genuine care about the dogs and the adopters. I hope that sharing my terrible experience will help at least one person avoid this level of heartbreak in their own adoption experience. read more

Very happy to have found my best friend and new companion. While in the future I would be more prepared that he should be checked out ASAP by his own vet as a matter of practice , I was happy any issues were fixed quickly. I love that there is an alumni group and we are in touch with his sister. We even went back for extra training with his foster mom! I would adopt from them again. read more

Better late than never... 4 years ago I found my best friend..I was at my lowset..I had lost my sister, my 2 and a half year old basset hound was diagnosed with lymphoma and I chose the chemo road. It was uneventful (thank God) and I got another year and a half with her. I also needed back to back..back surgery. My son could see my Lanie girl wasn't going to make it much longer. He signed up with you, and off we went on a Saturday morning. We were signed up as #9...I didnt want to be there and all I wanted was my Lanie girl to get better....oh no I spotted the puppy I HAD to have, but she was in someone else's arms. I paid close attention to the womans every move...she put "Daisy" her litter name down to ask her husband what he thought????? Daisy was back down in her area for less than 10 seconds, and in my arms, heading to do the necessary paperwork. The woman approached me asking what # I was, I replied 9 she was 33, and wished me luck. I changed her name to Kiealy (my family name). I know we all think we have the best, and I appreciate that thought. I just want to add we all have the best for us..both dog and owner.. Everything about this organization is nothing less than heartwarming, yet professional. My only advice is....get there on time (if not early) on adoption day, and sign in...STAY IN THE (AREA).... Kiealy and I are seldom apart and are the truest of best friends. When I came home with K, my Lanie girl was laying out front with my neighbor...Lanie picked her head up gave the puppy a kiss, passing me on to the new puppy. And then I had to take My Beloved Basset girl to cross the Rainbow... I never once thought of Kiealy as a replacement. As with people there are no replacements.....just new chapters... DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE I am absolutely disgusted in this place I just adopted my puppy, gautier (booze now) from here. He's the cutest little dude we love Him dearly but be careful from adopting here. I made the mistake of not reading reviews before adopting. It seems that i am not the only person who has dealt with similar situations. When i went to adopt him They asked me no questions before taking him home or asked for any references. They did warn me about his heart murmur but the day i took him i noticed an insane amount of itching and parasites in his poop let alone they had just told me he was completely healthy and dewormed. After a few days of keeping a eye on him i realized something was up so i emailed them with my concerns they said they had no recollection of any of this and would ask the foster but i never heard back and it's very obvious that he was in pain and uncomfortable due to crying and whinning while scratching almost constantly through out the day. It got to the point where he would knaw at his skin till he was bleeding. Wasn't much i could do, i had already made the vet appointment but had to wait for them to squeeze me in he ended up having a skin issue, worms and a parasite. They should have either told me or should've realized something was wrong because it took me less than 2 days to notice. I believe this place in unprofessional and a scam. I spent $500 thinking i was getting a healthy puppy but now it's ended up being a lot more due to all vet bills and medications he is on. We were very disappointed we applied for a puppy and were invited to come to an adoption event at 6pm, first come first serve. We drove an hour and a half away and arrived 20 minutes early thinking we would be waiting to go inside. Come to find out they allowed people to sign in at 4pm and leave and come back at 6pm..... there were at the very LEAST 15 families ahead of us... for 7 dogs. The guy running it proceeds to let everyone know "although they let people sign in at 4pm it's still first come first serve, and they don't make puppies so nobody should be upset" L M F A O. Maybe next time don't hold an event at a certain time then allow others to get first dibs by signing in 2 hours earlier then you told majority to come. This is not how you run a rescue, sorry but not sorry. A child could run a more organized organization then these people. read more

We made an appointment to meet and filled out the adoption application. When we got to the location it was very clean with a lot of volunteers who were able to answer all of questions which made us comfortable with introducing her to our family. A couple weeks later, we made we scheduled her first vet appointment. We sent them all the paperwork Pawsafe provided including proof of vaccines, medication etc. Our vet was thoroughly impressed with all of the documentation. When we are ready for another dog, or to anyone we know who are looking, we ALWAYS tell them t check this place out. We have had our dog for close to a year without a single regret. read more

Adopted our sweet boy from the recent adoption event held at Smithland Supply, the event went very smoothly and was handled really professionally. If you want to get a puppy that you've had your eyes on, definitely get there early. The first people in line were there at 10:30 the night before and got the pup that they wanted. I showed up just before 5am and was 5th in line. Before the shop opens, around 8:30, a list is handed around and your spot is held in line. There are plenty of announcements and guidance from the staff, once you line up and it's your turn, a volunteer guides you to a puppy pen, by yourself so there's no rush. We ended up chatting with our pups foster mom and she was so nice and gave us all the info we needed. I can't stress how great the volunteers and staff were. We love our Dex (formerly Peregrine) and will definitely adopt from here again. They really care for their puppies so well! read more

Few months ago we rescued a puppy from this organization. When looking online for pups, the information said that they were not spayed or neutered yet. When I was there I found they did the surgery. The pups were only 2 months old :(( I found this practice to be not only horrendous but attempt against the safety and healthy thrive of the animals. So many researches proof the importance of allowing a female dog to go to their first estrus (heat cycle) before the spaye surgery. So many scientific researches withs lots of information. Also lots of veterinaries agree with it. The consequences of spaying a female at that early age (2 months) can be tragic :(( As I said, I was extremely disappointed and hurt and very, very, very upset not only at this organization (which I will not recommend) but overall at the Veterinary they use, who seems to don't care for animals but yes for money. And perhaps the PawSafe Rescue too? You care more for money that the safety of the animals? My sweet pup is ok, we give her lots of love and I said to her many times I am so sorry they violated you this way. Horrible way to begin your life. The people that was supposed to rescue, harmed you, violated you. Anyways, I hope you will considere reviewing your spayed and neutered practices, currently they are abominable. read more
